Amazing Day Visit

All vegetarian, organic meals served at this hot spring retreat center. We had day passes to visit and ate the lunch and dinner buffet. They had ‘special diet’ versions of the main dishes (no egg, no dairy and I think no gluten) and everything was really good and plentiful! Lunch was a kale soup, roasted veggies, breads and salad bar. Dinner was a polenta casserole and salad bar. A very relaxing place to be in the woods. Nice staff, very peaceful and quiet.

Pros: All vegetarian, Vegan

Day Retreat

I spent all day at Breitenbush on 12/1/18 for a single day retreat and plan to return for an overnight. This was a womens only weekend, and the cabins booked up fast. I was still able to go for the day and make use of all other facilities. The food was wholesome and flavorful, dietary restrictions were well marked along the buffet line. They do ask that you call ahead with dietary restrictions so they know how much to make. I was able to eat plant-based with no trouble and feel satisfied. I was there for lunch and dinner, and a bell is chimed that rings throughout the property around 10 minutes before the buffet will be open. Here is what was served (from my memory): Lunch - coconut milk based soup with green beans and mushrooms, white rice and coconut/lime tofu, peanut sauce, salad bar with greens/shredded root veg/mushrooms, and a premade rice noodle salad. Dinner - lasagna (various trays for different dietary needs), variety of bread and spreads, same salad bar, Mediterranean salad, and cookies. Each meal was served with a cooler/ade with basil and lime and water for tea was always available. My body felt satisfied. Keep in mind that the draw to Breitenbush is the hot springs, not the food.

Pros: WFPB or vegan options, Satisfying flavors, Hot and cold offerings

Cons: Needing to call ahead for dietary restrictions, Lack of trays for the plates and silverware, Noisy in the dining room when full
