Great vegan comfort food in a busy location

Really great range of clearly marked vegan options on the menu, and staff are always able to answer any questions about the vegan-ness of menu items. The fried chick'n seitan burgers are fantastic and they do a ton of vegan sides, including bacon fries and poutine. They also have a range of vegan mayos to choose from on request. The only real downside is that Lothian Road is a busy area for offices and on weekday lunchtimes the restaurant is full of people on their lunch break, so you will often have to wait, and there's not a lot of room for people queuing to wait in. Despite this, it is always worth the wait.

Pros: Lots of clearly marked vegan options, Friendly staff

Cons: Very busy at lunchtime

Good food, shame they removed the vegan Rueben

Had the angry vegan chicken burger which was really nice but upset they replaced the Rueben with more burgers. They’re missing a trick, it was really a unique option you can’t get elsewhere.

Vegan bacon sandwich

The vegan bacon tasted like real bacon, which I found a bit strange, but I'm sure you like it, if you like bacon.

Went to check it out, but was dissapointed.

The chick'n was anything but tasty or delightful, the texture was very bready, and the bread was too compact and had a bad texture too. I felt like I was eating only bread with one bit of bacon, one bit cheese. Would not go again or recommend to anyone.

Pros: special vegan menu

Cons: bad food

Great Little Vegan Menu

Delicious vegan options tucked in the menu of this Edinburgh gem. The seitan is thick and dense and the cheez is out of this world. A great spot to enjoy whether you’re full vegan or not. Can be a bit packed at times, but it’s well worth the wait.

Pros: Delicious vegan options

Cons: A bit crowded at times

Okay

The burger options were basically the same thing plus added extras and the bacon and sauce and cheese were pretty nice but the chickn was just unrealistic as hell. Pretty tough and bland tasting. The staff were nice but were pretty unprofessional and talking amongst themselves continuously. Almost obnoxiously. Didnt even come with chips!

Pros: Vegan fake meat options, Not too expensive, Nice decoration

Cons: Rude staff, Unrealistic, Singular items, not meals

Good high street option

We tried the reuben and the angry vegan sandwiches. Both were very nice, though the seitan in the angry vegan was very dense, and thus could have stood to be a thinner patty. I'm a harsh judge of seitan though, as I regularly make my own, and tend to prefer it to any I've had in restaurants.

Regardless, tasty options, very central, and a good place for mixed groups.

Pros: Central, Several options

Cons: Serves meat

Chips > burgers

I've been to bread meats bread a couple of times. I am not a big fan of the burgers, however, their vegan bacon chips with spicy mayo are amazing. I definitely keep coming back for those .

Pros: Good value, good fries, big portions

Cons: very busy

100% worth a visit!

Absolutely LOVED this place. Variety of vegan options for both mains and sides. For your money you get the perfect sized portion. The staff were so so lovely when I went in. Short wait for a table as the restaurant itself isn’t that big and was busy, but definitely worth the wait. Had the vegan fried chick’n cheese bacon burger and fries. Honestly the best burger I’ve ever had. Even my non-vegan partner said that the vegan burger was the best burger he has ever had!!

Pros: Vegan mains and sides, Tastes amazing , Friendly staff

Cons: Small restaurant so may have a short wait for a ta

excellent food

Great place for a casual meal with friend, often very busy due to the excellent food. Now my favourite to go for a casual bite in Edinburgh.

Pros: good options that are well labelled

Best burgers in Edin!

I really love this place -I go every month! The burgers are incredible, it has a fab vegan menu and really helpful staff. They have a big selection of vegan sides, including chips with ‘blue cheese’ and some of the best mayonnaise I’ve ever tried.

You can’t book a table here but I’ve never been turned away. Don’t be put off by a queue, there’s always one -they always get you a table within 15m (in my experience)

Delicious and Different Vegan Options

When I went to bread meats bread it had 3 vegan burger options. I have tried both the "pulled mushroom" and the beetroot burger. Really enjoyed both of them.

Pros: Lively atmosphere , Tasty food

Cons: Very meat heavy , Had to queue both time (but not for too long)
