My favourite Akureyri spot - Edit
This was my favourite Akureyri spot. It's really good for breakfast/picking up lunch bits. I tried all the vegan pastries and the filled bagel and enjoyed them all. It's a bit outside the centre of Akureyri, but there is a nice path along the River Gléra for part of the walk.

Cons: Outside of town centre

Yummiest snudur - Edit
Industrial chic cafe with a glass-bakery. It's great to look at the baking-persons.
Read moreCafe is a little hard to find, it's in an industrial area and doesn't have a noticeable sign.
Have different vegan options, from snudurs, cookies and even something with vegan cheese. Everything tastes good.
Got oatmilk for coffee, cappuccino etc.

Tasty, friendly, not overpriced - Edit
We had to walk around the building to find the place (it’s on the south side) but it was worth it. Workers were friendly and and the vegan pastries clearly labelled. Nice selection of teas.

Great food and service - Edit
A handful of great vegan options - including pastries and bagels/sandwiches - and stellar service, above and beyond - they were out of premade vegan sandwiches at the time, so they made one fresh for us

Vegan options! - Edit
The young guy serving was not enthused about making a coffee, he pointed to the self serve coffee. I asked for an oat latte and he reluctantly made one. It was served quite cold and pretty average. As for the food, I got the cinnamon role with caramel icing, it was delicious. Also bought a croissant for later on which was pretty nice. The chocolate croissant wasn’t labelled vegan so I didn’t end up getting that. Worth stopping by for travelling vegans!

Nice range of vegan options - Edit
We visited this bakery two separate times and enjoyed the vegan chocolate croissant, hearty bread, a fruit danish, a cinnamon roll, and several other vegan items. They also had vegan takeaway sandwiches. It does seem like the menu changes, so be prepared to find something different when you visit.

Go here - Edit
A little tricky to find but worth the search. A fair selection of vegan baked goods that all looked mouth wateringly delicious, all clearly labelled. Also offers coffee and Oatly brand single-serve milks (plain, chocolate). I got a vegan bagel sandwich and a caramel covered cinnamon roll. The bagel was more soft and bread like than toothy and chewy like in the U.S. Very very good and worth the "best bakery" tag.

Delicious! - Edit
When I found this bakery through this app, I had to try it and it didn't disappoint. There are a good range of baked goods (I wouldn't say over half of it is vegan though) and they are clearly marked.
Read moreWe ordered a raspberry danish, rhubarb crumble slice, and cinnamon scroll topped with salted caramel. All very tasty and sweet (we kept one item for the next day as we had our sugar fix with the first two). Very reasonably priced too -- no more than I've paid in the US. Worth a visit!

Fantastic croissants - Edit
I didn’t expect to find such great croissants this far into the Arctic. This bakery did not disappoint. Good coffee, loads of vegan options including fantastic croissants and cinnamon rolls. Not too expensive either - prices are similar to those in London.
