Nice breakfast

Nice atmosphere and décor, I had the vegan bap which was tasty but on the small side. The iced coffee was very nice

Pros: Reasonably priced, Friendly service, Nice decor

Cons: Small portion

Vegan brunch

The vegan boss breakfast is incredible!! I also love the avocado toast, with mushrooms instead of poached eggs to make it vegan. Great coffee (they use minor figures oat milk!), and delicious smoothies.

Pros: Good value, Great vegan options, Friendly staff!

Great spot for vegan dishes

Lots of milk alternatives for coffees and also so many vegan options. There’s also options for regular menu items to be “vegan-ised”

Pros: Dogs allowed, Super speedy service, Vegan cake options

Hit and miss

I want to love this place as I am a huge fan of their approach to local food and they have pioneered reduction of waste with their #NoExcuseForSingleUse cup campaign. I have had some lovely coffee, breakfasts and cake here. I have also had wrong orders, coffee with avocado lumps in it, cold food, slow service/being ignored at the counter, and orders arriving after the rest of the group have finished eating/drinking. They have also had no vegan cake option the last few times I have visited. It’s a lovely space and atmosphere that they create,I will be having a break from them after my most recent experience and hope that by my next visit things are more hit than miss.

Sums up Exeter in a cafe

As a local, I visit Boston Tea Party fairly regularly. I feel it's one of those places visitors to Exeter should definitely go to; make sure you sit inside and go upstairs (if possible) as that's where the Boston's atmosphere really is.

In terms of food, it's nothing particularly special, but it's nice and it's good quality. My favourite vegan option is the vegan breakfast, and you can also ask for the tomato and mushroom bap to be made vegan which is really nice when you're after a warm snack.

The cold sandwiches aren't as good as the hot food, but the avocado, sundried tomato and olive tapenade is OK if you need to grab a quick bite.

They usually have a couple of vegan options in the cake display, the chocolate and coconut flapjack is particularly nice, and they have lots of suitable drinks options with organic soya milk.

If you've been to Exeter but not visited Boston's you've been missing out.

Pros: Vegan options labelled, Organic and free range produce

Cons: Lots of meat on the menu, Can get crowded
