A must try when in Aberdeen! - Edit
This place was amazing! The location is super cute and the menu is really good. I tried vegan salmon bagel which was heavenly, and also strawberry cheesecake milkshake. I wish I could go back to Aberdeen just to visit Bonobo Cafe again! They also had some leaflets about animal rights which made me believe that the owners are probably vegan for the animals which is a really nice plus as well. Oh, they also have a cute cat present in the cafe and if you’re lucky you’ll see her/him 💕

Lovely vegan hotspot in Aberdeen - Edit
Had to wait quite long to be serviced but the food was alright. A bit on the expensive side for the small portion, however. The staff was nice and the atmosphere good. Very cozy place to have breakfast or lunch.

Sheer deliciousness - Edit
I went two evenings while at a conference in Aberdeen. First I had hash browns which were absolutely magical and a kebab which was nice but not as exciting. They very kindly made me bagels for the next day's breakfast and lunch. Pastrami and pickles, New York style and delicious and also a lifesaver as the conference was a vegan desert. The next evening I had spicy tofu to start which were delicious with quite a kick. Then a seitan burger which was absolutely excellent. Plus more bagels for the next day. Great restaurant.

Used to be good, but not for me anymore unfortunately.. - Edit
I didn’t feel good after my last visit, so unfortunately needed to edit my review. I ordered a matcha mint milkshake but instead I got a chocolate one. I informed the staff who served me, but she raised her voice at me and said repetitively that it’s matcha chocolate, it’s how we do it. I wasn’t informed that there would be any chocolate in there when ordered, I wouldn’t choose it otherwise. It’s called “matcha mint”. She did not offer to change it for me and did not even say sorry or at least inform me in a nicer way. I had no choice but to take it as I felt pressured. I was quite a regular, stopped for a while because of another incident in the past. Really wanted to come back to like them, but I won’t try anymore. The milkshake also was sickly sweet, so I just left it, not recommended. To be fair to them, it’s not all the staff that’s not nice. Also, perhaps it was a simple miscommunication about the ingredients. However, please don’t do this to your customers. It was £8 for a milkshake, but I left feeling like I was a beggar asking them for free food while I paid quite an expensive price for what I received. Quite sad that it happened this way… 🙁😔

Lovely Venue but Small Portion - Edit
I want to give Bonobo Cafe more than 3 stars because the venue itself is beautiful and the staff were friendly and attentive. The food itself was delicious, I had the carrot and cheese bagel which I think was meant to imitate salmon, either way, it was great. There were two things which were big enough to lose a star each unfortunately. Firstly, on Tripadvisor and HappyCow it says it’s a lower priced restaurant, but the prices were, I thought, more medium, which I wouldn’t have minded but I was expecting it to be cheaper. The second thing was that the portion size for what I received was small. In total, it was £8.90 for two slices of bagel with the cheese and toppings and a side salad. Whilst it was super tasty, I was still hungry afterwards. If it came with, say, a portion of homemade chips or mini hash browns perhaps etc. that would have a gone a long way.
Read moreIt’s a shame because, as I say, I’d like to give more but the somewhat higher than expected prices coupled with the smallish portion size left me a wee bit disappointed. However, there was so much that was good about this restaurant I’d still go again, but I might order something different.
Pros: Venue, Staff, Free Lime Water
Cons: More Expensive than Anticipated , Smallish Portion

We visited Bonobo cafe on Saturday lunchtime & opted to sit outside as it was a nice sunny day. My partner & I both loved the relaxed vibe here. Partner had soup & I chose the chocolate banana bread which was served nice & warm with chocolate sauce, ‘cream’ & fruit.

Outstanding café in Aberdeen! - Edit
We met Isaac from Bonobo café in Glasgow and we decided to come here when we were in Aberdeen! And it was awesome!
Read moreThe café itself is lovely - the covered rooftop garden is beautiful, lots of art and plants, a resident cat... And the food and beverages were delicious! Plenty of choice and flavours. We got the soup of the day and choona (mock tuna) sandwich, higher hearts bowls, a fry up and a matcha latte (yes, all of it).
Everything was delicious. And people were great, clients and staff alike, we ended up having fun conversations on top of enjoying the food. There's also a zero waste shop in the café.
And it's a cooperative!
Highly recommended!

The food was amazing. We had the fry up, Tofu Benny and sides of tattie scones and vegan haggis. The staff were very friendly. The on-site shop was great and we got a number of items including vegan honey. The seating is very cool- rooftop cafe (sheltered) and the smell of incense. There’s a resident cat
