Hot porridge in winter

This is a branch of Bonjuk that is located on the outskirts of the student village in Nokdu. Although, the company provides all ingredients and the recipes to their branches, each place is slightly different.
Staff is very friendly here. They have pink-colored Dongchimi instead of the regular white one.

Bonjuk specializes in Korean rice porridge. The current menu includes more than 6 vegan-friendly options. Under 'traditional porridge' (전통죽), you can find i.e. black sesame (흑임자죽), pumpkin (호박죽), red bean (동지팥죽 & 단팥죽), pine nuts (잣죽) and mung bean (녹두죽). Then, there's also plain, white porridge (흰죽) which is naturally vegan, too.

The porridge is served a few basic side dishes. While the Dongchimi (watery radish kimchi) is vegan, the three other side dishes contain animal products (fish sauce, squid and beef). Better them staff when ordering if you don't eat them, so they don't serve it to you. For dessert, you even get a cup of sweet Maesil tea.

Personally, Im always overwhelmed by the large servings and either shared or take leftovers home.
