no tofu :( - Edit
No tofu on the menu, and I told the staff I was vegan and they confirmed they had no tofu available.
Read moreThe staff was nice though, she suggested a rice, spinach and mushroom dish. (In Korean.) It was enough to tide me over considering I was with a bunch of meat-eaters, but I wouldn't recommend it for anyone expecting good vegan options.
Pros: nice, helpful
Cons: no tofu, no real options

Questionable. - Edit
I was in the neighborhood and decided to pop in for something to eat. Didn’t really read the reviews before I ordered so I just went with the tofu bibimbap which may have been a mistake. I was sure to say no egg so that wasn’t an issue. After I started eating I noticed a comment on someone else’s review that said the tofu was mixed with fish. At first I thought that was crazy because mine tasted fine, but then I bit into a piece that had a weird texture and I couldn’t get past it. The veggies in the bibimbap were good and I asked the very nice people who were working and they said tofu is only beans, so now I don’t know what to think. I really hate wasting food but I couldn’t eat the rest. Perhaps ordering porridge is a safer bet here, or the soft tofu instead of the fried. I’m not sure I’ll be back.

Good restaurant - Edit
Restaurant is on the second floor. Sadly there is no English menu but the staff could help me with my order.

Unfortunately this is not vegan. The yellow stripes are eggs and there is fish in the „tofu“

Arobed, can you confirm how you concluded that the tofu has fish? I tried it before reading your comment and got totally weirded out by the texture, but the workers assured me the tofu was beans only. Not sure what to think.

I also asked the server many times if this is vegan and they stayed yes. I even made my question clearer with asking this is without meet and fish.

Mine definitely didn’t have egg strips either. They were so nice and I don’t think they’d have any reason misrepresent what is in their food. I’m thinking I should go back with a Korean speaking friend!

Fresh and tasty - Edit
The food in itself is classic but tasty. The tofu bibimbap is flavorful with a lot of vegetables and the restaurant itself is really enjoyable and calm. You can seat right by the window to enjoy the street’s view. Prices are also pretty cheap (8000 won for the tofu bibimbap).

Delicious Porridge and Bibimbap - Edit
I love the pine nut porridge. Unfortunately, it is not so popular with foreigners, so some other locations may not have it. The tofu bibimbap is also delicious, but cannot be ordered as a dolsot. Large quantities. I always take my left-overs home in my lunch box. Be careful to ask them not to put the banchans. Appart from the cold radish soup, most are not-vegan. (The kimchi and the gochujang sauce should be okay for pescetarian)
Read morePros: Good value, Fast
Cons: Banchans are not vegan, A lot of plastic is used when taking-out

Really good bibimbap! - Edit
I got the soft tofu bibimbap (without broth or kimchi since someone said that wasn't vegan—could not confirm with staff since they didn't speak much English). It was really good.

Sweet porridge for cold days - Edit
As a vegan living in Korea, Bonjuk and Bimimbap is the ultimate 'relief' and my to-go restaurant around the entire peninsula. I am incredibly happy to find Bonjuk pretty much in every district. I admit it, I absolutely love Korean pumpkin porridge (or Hobak-juk) which is made with pumpkin, glutinous rice flour and some simple ttoek (glutinous rice cake). I always ask the staff to make it sugar free and it still tastes fantastic.
Read moreThe red bean and sweet potato (goguma) porridge are great too. I tried the tofu bibimbap once and it was fairly all right, but for culinary deliverance to a higher plane go for Hobak-juk.
Everything about Bonjuk's vegan options is amazing. If you are feeling cold, sick, hungry, or you happen to enjoy porridge and thick soups I highly recommend it to you. Million times.
If you know you cannot eat a big portion of food, it is better to get a take out (no extra charge) and enjoy the porridge at home, it will last you in fridge for days.
Pros: Portion size (enormous), Take out

Nope. Definitely - Edit
I would not recommend people to come to this store. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The store manager could speak some simple Chinese. They tried to help me to pick food that does not contain allium and with no meat. They couldnt change the beef in the bibimbap to other meat for my friends. Their bibimbap cant remove any food that contains allium (e.g. their kimchi). So we were left with porridge as our option. But the porridge wasnt very nice tasting. You can say its hard to swallow because it tasted like salty red bean soup (we ordered 2 red bean and 1 abalone for my friend). Both red bean porrdige were still half filled when we left. We really couldnt eat anymore. It might be personal preferences. But a word of advise, maybe you should walk further down and try another store.

great find! - Edit
Great find! Affordable and there's a lot of food when it comes. I had the sweet pumpkin porridge - it's enough to share. Super filling. I asked the server for vegan selections by pointing to my cheat sheet on my phone

And she said the pumpkin porridge was. It was good! Sweet, indeed! And only 8,000 kwon. It's across the street from Krispy Kreme and upstairs. First door on right. Free wifi and lots of outlets to charge phones.

decent choice it you're in the area - Edit
they do have some vegan options but they are not labeled "vegan" and since the staff doesn't speak any english, it's useful to have a korean speaking friend with you (given the fact that koreans usually consider ham, eggs and cheese vegetable). once you actually get to an acceptable meal, it's quite nice. kinda clpse to korean cuisine. prices are little bit over average but i'd say it's money well spent.

Decent and cheap - Edit
I got the gondre bibimbap for 7,500W. It was good. It came with a small bowl of miso soup but I wasn't sure if it was vegetarian. None of the staff seem to speak English. It was tasty, although it took a while to arrive. They were very friendly and smiley. I was struggling to read the korean menu but noticed an English menu on the wall later with photographs. Check the wall first!
