Chill out brunch option - Edit
Nice location in a backyard setting. Had the vegan english breakfast there and various other items on differing occasions. Always a good place to chill out when in the area with time on your hands.

Loved the outdoor seating area. Overall enjoyed this place but many of the options on the menu were “out”. Decided on the Crunchy Wings Cauliflower & the Raspberry Lime Kombucha.

Order western, not Khmer food here - Edit
Staff is very friendly, the service a bit unorganized but fine. The restaurant setting is great! However, all of the Khmer food we tried here was very very unimpressive, it was bland and came with minimal toppings. The breakfast items we tried varied in quality. Wouldn’t recommend the french toast, but we did like the brunch dishes. However, the portions are very small so you have to order at least 3-4 meal items to create a full brunch. Overall there are better places to eat

Superb - Edit
Ended up eating here for dinner multiple nights as it was the closest veg restaurant to me. Had the (very good) veggie burger the first night, but on the second night I discovered the tempeh skewers which remain THE most amazing meal I've had in Cambodia. Absolutely delicious, and served with a generous helping of fantastic hummus and four pieces of roti. I think there are only two ladies working the kitchen, so things can take a while at dinner if they're busy, but the surroundings are pleasant and the food is definitely worth the wait. Highly recommended!

Air tastes more than this - Edit
I’m sorry but...seriously? Come on... How could you even serve this food? Absolutely zero taste AND to top it off, the service was insanely slow (no other guests there and we still waited a good 45 mins) and impersonal. The items on the menu looked amazing so I was very disappointed. We specifically had the tofu scramble and beans, the incredible burger, and the coconut pancakes (these were nothing but a complete disaster). Avoid!

Disappointingly bland breakfast - Edit
I really wanted to like this place. I ordered the Scrambled Tofu and Beans, the smoothie bowl, and some green tea. To be fair, the smoothie bowl was pretty good, but I wish they hadn’t been skimpy with the toppings other than the banana - they seemed more like garnish than ingredients.
Read moreThe main dish was surprisingly disappointing. The tofu itself tasted like it had been cooked in cooking oil without any seasonings (not even salt and pepper, let alone any spices to add flavor), and despite the description that it was a scramble of tofu, kidney beans, garlic, and tomato there was not one bean in the dish, I’m 99% sure not one clove of garlic was used, and it looked like they managed to find a single cherry tomato to sauté into the scramble. Either the cook didn’t have a clue what the dish was supposed to be, or they were out of ingredients and didn’t think I’d care. It was just sautéed soft tofu on bread - bland, bland, bland.
Not helping things, the green tea also wasn’t very good, and while I wouldn’t normally comment on something like that, in this case, the mediocrity seemed to fit in with the rest of the experience. Perhaps it’s better at lunch/dinner, or I caught them on an off day.
Pros: Vegan, Outdoor seating
Cons: Quality, Service

Cozy place, nice brunch - Edit
We were here for Saturday brunch with a menu full of 1$ items. The portions are small, so you can try more. With 2 persons we had 10 items and were satisfied. Also the coffee and smoothies are nice. They are not included in the brunch. The brunch was nice, fresh and delicious. It is great that you can try out different dishes. But we already had tastier vegan food in Phnom Penh. It is a nice relaxed way to start the day being here, enjoying the tapas and drinking coffee.

Bong Banlai at YK Art House - Edit
Had the French toast, three slices topped with bananas and syrup. The incredible burger with potato wedges, and cashew onion rings. The burger is on the spicey side, for those who don’t do spice.

Loved this place! - Edit
Relaxing atmosphere, super friendly staff and delicious food and drink - what more could you ask for? When we first arrived, we noticed it was part of a guesthouse and we were so gutted we didn't book to stay here so that we could enjoy delicious vegan food here everyday! It was a Sunday when we dined here, so they were offering $1 dishes to build your own brunch - what a steal. The menu is fab - we chose avocado and beans on an English muffin, the king oyster mushroom Florentine (which comes with a luscious homemade hollandaise), the pulled mushroom slider and the full English breakfast. Everything came out quickly and it was oh so delicious! A refreshing change from eating noodles, rice and veggies, and all set in an outdoors courtyard surrounded by trees. We loved it here and hopefully will get a chance to come back before we leave.

This restaurant is like a secret garden. It took me some time to find it. The tuktuk driver didn't understand where i want to go. But it's worthy of my time. I have never experienced this kind of food and i like it. the staff are warm. it will become a part my precious memories of Cambodia.

Peaceful Lunch - Edit
A nice place for lunch tucked into a quiet courtyard draped in plants trees. There is ample outdoor seating next to a small pool. If it rains, there is covered indoor seating as well, but the trees provide good cover outdoors. The dishes are great to share the smoothies are nice too. I recommend the pita hummus, falafel bites, bbq pulled mushroom slider, baklava, coconut pancakes, bean avocado toast, fruit salad w/ coconut cream.

Amazing $1 Brunch! - Edit
Came here for the $1 Sunday brunch with good (cheap) intentions, but everything sounded so good we ended up ordering nearly every option - there are around 10-15. Great service, and the owner whipped up a custom coffee/banana smoothie for us on request. Bonus points for the adorable rescue dog. The only thing that I wish had been mentioned by other reviewers is that the $1 brunch doesn’t start til 10:30am (although today it ended up being 11am), so we walked in unwittingly at 9:30am. We weren’t in a rush and it’s a nice spot to sit so it was fine, but consider this an FYI for other brunchers :)

Leaves room for improvements... - Edit
We had come across the Bong Bonlai menu and were delighted to see that we've got a vegetarian restaurant with mostly non-Asian dishes now: https://ykarthouse.com/bong-bonlai-menu/
Read moreTo begin with, the place isn't easy to find and not well advertised, as it's part of the YK Art House mostly serving guests who are staying there anyway. The tables are near the pool area, some in the patio, some others indoor.
Our table still had the breakfast menu (at 12:30) but on request we got the lunch menu and were assured that all food is actually vegan!
The soup of the day, was a rather tasty pumpkin soup (with a lot of fresh ginger). The red thai curry was a bit mild to our taste. The king mushroom aussie burger was more of a round sandwich than a burger with a patty, but it tasted good and came with nice potato wedges. The falafel warp was so salty and dry that we didn't eat it. Last not least, we had a shepherd's pie (not on the menu). To say the least: In lack of any "meaty" texture, it wasn't quite what we had expected.
The service was rather inattentive and completely forgot to bring the requested additional plates for use to share the dishes. To get some water, we needed to go to reception, as nobody would show again once the food was on the table.
Overall: We loved the concept and menu but both service and quality of food leave room for improvements.
Pros: Nice setting, "Exotic" menu, Vegan
Cons: Inattentive service, Seasoning not optimally balanced, Restaurant hard to find and not well advertised
