Only place I know in North Austin that serves South Indian food - Edit
Had the samosa and masala dosa. Were the best samosas I’ve ever had. The taste and texture were so delicious and flaky. Couldn’t recommend the dosa enough. It could have been a little spicier , but I don’t fault them for anything.

Simple, Delicious Indian Food - Edit
The whole menu is vegetarian and is clearly marked for vegan and gluten-free options.
Read moreThe owner is patient and attentive, answering questions about the menu and ensuring we had enough soup and sauces during our meal.
The dishes are massive, and the prices are low. You may not be able to finish your food!
You won't regret trying this place!
Pros: Delicious food, huge portions, Clearly marked vegan (VG) & Gluten-free (GF) items, Wonderful host
Cons: The interior is very minimalist , It's not closer to my house

It's good! - Edit
Love how easy it was to filter vegan, non vegan and gluten free options. Made things much easier.
Read moreFood was really good. We did takeout and I got the mysore dosa, cachori, and bhel puri.
More flavorful than other Indian places in Austin for sure.

So much flavor! - Edit
I LOVE that you can filter their online menu for only vegan options. The chickpea items were our favorite!

Love this place - Edit
Samoas here rock and are very filling. We have come 3 times and like it every time. Great variety of options - all vegetarian and many vegan. We had some confusion with our table one time and an order being delivered to the wrong person and the staff were friendly and happy to give us another meal. Would highly recommend Bombay express to anyone craving some authentic Indian dishes.

SO GOOD - Edit
I eat here frequently and absolutely love everything! Almost all their stuff is vegan or vegan by request. The food is always so delicious and fulfilling. The only thing i wish they would have is a plant-based milk in their tea because i love tea and would love to enjoy some. Definitely suggest eating here more than once so you can try all their yummy foods.

Best Indian in Austin! - Edit
This place does Indian right, which may be why it’s packed with South Asians on most days. They’ve got an authentic, varied menu and an always delicious rotating thali (set meal). Wonderful!

Delish! - Edit
I never ate much of anything other than the standard American meals before going Vegan. But now I try a lot more. I had heard that Indian food was very vegan friendly. I tried this place after it was recommended to me. I'm so glad I did! I don't remember what I ordered. I just told the guy that I was vegan and that I wanted whatever he recommended. And I never looked back.

My Favorite Indian Food In Austin - Edit
This place has the best Indian food in Austin. About 80% of the menu is vegan or can be made vegan, and I've never had anything better than an awesome dish there. If you go on a weekday, they have lunch special, which usually include non-vegan stuff, but if you ask them to make it vegan they will.

Excellent food, over 20 vegan choices - Edit
The Bombay Express was a great find on our first night visiting Austin. It is about 3 miles north of the city of off I-35, in the new superWalmart plaza. The food was some of the best and the most authentic Indian cuisine I have ever had. The prices are very reasonable and the portions large. The restaurant is clean and pleasant. They have take-out on most everything. The tablecloths are vinyl and you eat on paper plates with plastic silverware, very casual and this is reflected in the prices. The staff was helpful and polite. A wonderful place to eat, excellent food, and so many choices for vegans!
