Good, solid food - Edit
Down to earth Mongkok Buddhist restaurant. Staff are friendly and recommend dishes that are seasonal. The handmade dumplings and fried sticky rice are tasty.

"This is a vegetarian restaurant, are you aware of that?" - Edit
I had lunch here while I was book-shopping in Mong Kok and, after doing some searching, finally saw the sign. A middle-aged lady who could speak good English walked me through the menu and other things... not before coming to me with a somewhat worried face to ask: "This is a vegetarian restaurant, are you aware of that?". The service was very quick and the food tasty (I had the tofu skin soup with bok choi and the spicy fake beef with vegetables), although slightly expensive (there's a 10% service charge). All things considered, a very nice option in an area where eating vegan or vegetarian is not always easy. I will come for vegetarian dim sum next time.

Great HK style food - Edit
My husband and I went 2x, once for dinner and the next day for lunch, because we really wanted to try the dim sum (stops at 4:30). This restaurant can be a challenge if you don't speak Cantonese. We both speak Mandarin but had troubles. We were with a Cantonese speaker the first time and had no issues. Very few dishes contain milk (mostly desserts). The 2nd day we had a few issues getting the server to understand our questions. Luckily we were sat with another couple (common seating) and they helped us a bit. They've got a great English menu with pictures (just ask for it). Recommended!!

Simple place - Edit
I was staying nearby so decided to try my first HK vegetarian restaurant. All menus are in Chinese but have pictures. Have to ask what doesn’t have eggs - most dishes vegan as dairy is rarely used. I found the mock roasted pork (Char Sui) quite oily but tasty and pretty close to the real thing. They had a really nice daily soup which changes every day.

Intense language barrier - Edit
I wanted to try dim sum here so me and my partner came right when they opened. It seemed to be only regulars in the restaurant when we came in. The waitress took quite some time to notice us and she put down some menus all in Chinese. My partner and I don't speak Chinese so I was using google translate to guesstimate what the items were and another patron came over and recommended some things. The staff then gave us an English menu after 15 minutes of struggle. We ordered a steamed eggplant dish, a peach shaped bun, bean curd rolls, spinach dumplings, and radish cake. At this point, we became curious about the vegetarian pork buns but we couldn't find them on the paper by matching the characters for it so I asked my partner to try to order them directly. The waitress was pretty much non-existent at this point so my partner went to the paying counter to order. When he asked about the pork bun she said something and pointed to a heating case by the door, presumably where the pork buns are kept. He went over to it assuming it might be self-serve but there were several signs instructing us not to touch the heating case. We waited around to see if anyone else was getting food from the heating case but no one was. Our other food did take quite some time to come out; about 20 minutes before the first dish arrived. The bean skin roll was delicious and I loved the crispy water chestnut pieces inside. The eggplant was also really good. The peach buns were fun but there was a tiny ball of filling only which was kind of sparse in my opinion. We didn't love the spinach dumplings as they were a little too plain and the dumpling wrapper was extremely tough and sticky, ripping apart and quickly contracting into a messy goo if it even brushes the plate. We waited about 15 more minutes for just the radish cake, my favorite dim sum. It was really good to me but my partner kept wondering if it was supposed to come with some sauce. After we finished our food, we finally saw some staff getting food out of the heating case, but never brought us anything. I assumed our order for the pork buns wasn't taken. We waited until our tea was gone and then we paid and left. The dim sum wasn't all perfect and I honestly thought they didn't really deserve the mandatory service charge so I can't really give it a full five stars. I can't imagine honestly trying to communicate about what's vegan or anything so we just tried to keep an open mind.

Best dim sum in Kowloon area - Edit
They have the best dim sum in the Kowloon area in my opinion. It's cheap and everything is so goooood. Unfortunately they do not have very clear remarks on vegan / dairy / egg for their dim sum menu.

Friendly and delicious - Edit
Ordered for takeaway there. We visited the restaurant at noon and it was super full, very popular with the locals as it seems. My beancurd with mushrooms and veggies arrived super fast and was very delicious. One of my best foods in HK. I also have to mention the very friendly servers, the friendliest I have seen in HK. The only downside is that the Restaurant ia quite pricey.

You could do worse - Edit
We found this place near where we were staying. One of the waitstaff spoke English and they had English menus. Their menus included veggie dim sum and a standard menu. We were given tea at the beginning of the meal. We ordered a vegetable and fermented bean dish, a pan fried noodle dish and a deep fried tofu. The food was fine. The vegetable dish didn't quite match the description and the noodles were rather oily, which wasn't entirely unexpected. We were charged for the tea, but they removed one from the check when I showed them that my partner didn't drink any. The staff was friendly. We will probably try other places instead of returning here since there are many options in the area, but we aren't opposed to going back.
