Awesome location + good but expensive food - Edit
It's super expensive here, but being so close to the city, I find myself here regularly. The Yum Cha for lunch is pretty great, lots to choose from - plenty of mock meats but also some healthy wholefood options too. Wish there were more non mock-meat dinner options, but the eggplant and mushrooms are pretty good!

Not that good - Edit
Way too expensive for what you get. High price, little food, average quality. Only reason to go is because its located in the park.

This place is wonderful. Food is flavourful and you can tell that care has been put into it. The green tea dumplings were really something! Friendly staff too and really chilled atmosphere. Worth the prices for sure.

Number 1 Vegan in Sydney - Edit
It’s still the place to show off to overseas visitors. It’s combination of location, styling and excellent food is beyond par. I’ve been visiting Bodhi in its various guises since 1991 and have always been a fan.

yum cha heaven - Edit
I was not overly impressed with their dinner (before my vegan days) but am so glad I returned to Bodhi to have yum cha. So fresh and so many options. My favorite were the veg dumplings - carrot & ginger and the spinach. Yum! Will try their dinner again one day...

My favourite restaurant on the planet - Edit
Bodhi is literally my favourite restaurant. I lived in Sydney for many many years and often used to go to Bodhi (when I could afford to)... I even used to go when it was in China town so I've been going here for years. I now live in London and have just got back home to London after a 2 week holiday in Sydney. I think I went here for yum cha maybe 6 times in 2 weeks (I dread to think how much I spent)!
Read moreBodhi has so many different types of steamed dumplings and they're all good but I love the spinach, snow pea, bok choi, mushroom, shiitake, green tea, beetroot etc. I'm not a fan of any type of fried food but there are so many dumplings and BBQ and vege buns that I'm happy to fill up on them without running out of options before getting full.
I have taken non vegan friends here and all of them like it too.
It's a little expensive but I think it's totally worth it, the food is really fresh and delicious and the outdoor seating is lovely too.
Pros: Dumplings, Delicious, Nice outdoor seating
Cons: I live in London now so can't go here often :(

Had dinner here tonight and loved every minute of it! The bao were delicious, as were the dumplings. We chose the duck as the main course and enjoyed it immensely. Worth the price, in my opinion. Beautiful setting, very nice staff, and all vegan! Two thumbs up from me!

absolute heaven - Edit
I’ve been here twice so far, once for yum cha lunch and once for dinner. Both times were great but I’ll have to rave about the dinner a bit more... special shout-out to the ‘chicken’ skewers, the betel leaf and the ‘duck’ pancakes, soooo amazing! I don’t think there had been anything we didn’t like so far! I’ve also only tried one cocktail as yet but they all look amazing! Their website does however mention to double check the cocktails are vegan before you order as some are made with egg yolk.
Read moreThis place has indoor and outdoor seating, depending on what mood you’re in, and is just a short walk from St James Station. I would highly recommend this place if you live in Sydney or are visiting, it’s a must!
Pros: ‘chicken’ skewers, indoor or outdoor seating as preferred, near public transport, short walk across the park
Cons: need to double check cocktails before ordering

My happy place in Sydney - Edit
High quality vegetarian dim sum (yum cha) has made our visits to Sydney that much better. They smartly took advantage of the parkside location to include patio dining that feels surprisingly secluded while only meters away from the busy streets lining Hyde Park. The shitake mushroom yam cake with crispy soy and vegetables, and pandan sago are to die for! We've never tried dinner because the dumplings are fantastic, but we'll definitely try it soon.

Great for lunch - Edit
The Yum cha lunch, with small dishes coming out of the kitchen among which you can pick whichever you want to share at the table, is really good. Usually ends up costing $20-25 per person for my friend sand me.
Read moreThe dinner is very nice, especially with the romantic lighting outside (be sure to book in advance). I love the mushroom nest and the grilled portobello but the main dishes are a bit pricey. The shiitake asparagus dumplings as entree are excellent.

Cons: Pricey dinner place

So happy to have found a vegan yum cha. Great variety, everything is nice. The only problem is that as most dishes serve 3 ans i went first by myself then with my mum, I ended eating way too much both times!!! The desserts are great too.

Wow! soooooo good! - Edit
You forget sometimes how easy it is to make delicious food with minimal ingredients. Was so impressed and wanted to go back but just didn't have time. In general Australias care a lot more about their cuisine than the average American. It certainly shows in a place like this. Every dish was better than the last. Maybe we got lucky, but maybe the most delicious experience I've had at a restaurant since going vegan

Never again - Edit
I had avoided Bodhi for many years due to issues with their old restaurant in Chinatown, however I finally decided to give them another try. A bad mistake.
Read moreDespite the place being only 20% occupied I was told that I could only have a table for a maximum of 45 minutes. I ordered and the meal was delivered within 5 minutes which can only have happened if it was prepared well in advance. Served on a plate in a rice paper (or similar) bowl there was a mix of mushrooms, nuts, tofu and chewy asparagus - all drowned in a thick creamy sauce with a side order of rice. It was only a smallish meal but was very heavy and, as I discovered, almost indigestible. In fact I gave up half way through and paid nearly $30 for the experience.
This was an overpriced, unpleasant and hurried meal. I will not be going back. The website won't let me give it less than two stars but it barely deserves one.
