blew me away! - Edit
long ago i lived in dc, where there’s a vibrant Ethiopian community and plenty of great vegan Ethiopian food; this is without a doubt the best Ethiopian i’ve had since then. the veggie sampler platter was everything i’ve loved about Ethiopian cuisine and more—there’s a mushroom-based dish included that i’ve never had before. highly recommended!!!

I tried a combo platter, got 4 choices! I really loved the collard greens! The other 3 were good. If you are spice sensitive, you might skip this place. The teas are wonderful!!

Delicious, Great Experience - Edit
Visited Blue Nile for dinner recently with my omni family. I ordered the house made honey wine, vegan butternut squash soup, and the vegetarian&vegan sampler platter. The sampler platter had all 8 vegetarian entree choices on it with lots of injera. It was absolutely delicious and I will for sure be coming back! My favorite entrees were the yellow split peas, the chickpeas, the green beans/carrots, and the potatoes.

I really enjoyed the vegetarian sampler plate. It was plenty of food for two. - Edit
The veg sampler plate was flavorful and interesting. The injera is not made of teff so that’s not usual.

Cons: Injera is a little weird because it seems not to, Contain any teff.

Vegan Combo - Edit
I ordered a vegan combo with gluten free teff injera. The food was good, but not the best Ethiopian I have had. My injera was firm and cold. The potatoes in one of my dishes weren’t cooked all the way.

Awesome & Healthy - Edit
High vibration food. We got every vegan dish and they were all slamming. Many Ethiopian can be oily, this was not. The food is healthy and tasty. We loved the ginger juice as well.

Excellent Vegan Food and Wonderful People - Edit
We dropped in here one night this week with a large group of people with no reservations. The staff was extremely accommodating, getting us in out of the cold, and getting us seated right away. Our waitress was patient with our party not all being there, and us ordering in shifts to get people done who needed to leave while waiting for others.
Read moreThe menu is clearly marked to denote vegan items, and there are a lot of them!
I had a veggie sambusa (very tasty), and ordered the veggie combo. I asked for recommendations for which items to include. Our waitress recommended her favorites: Gomen, Fosolia, Inguday Watt, and Shimbera Watt. Everything was excellent, and I ended up with enough leftovers for lunch.
If you live in KC or you happen to be downtown for business, I recommend stopping in here, vegan or not. You can even hop on the street car to get there in inclement weather. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area.
Pros: Vegan friendly (clearly labelled, lots of options), Excellent food, Friendly staff

This was my first time eating Ethiopian food. The hostess was very helpful, walking me up to the lunch buffet and telling what my choices were. The food was fantastic. I would definitely go again.

High quality authentic experience, with a killer special on their lunch buffet. Seriously, more than one vegan option and the injera bread is worth the visit alone.

Fantastic! - Edit
Great place for vegans & non-vegans to masticate together happily. The fried veggie pastry appetizers were delicious. I had the veggie sampler as an entree. The chickpeas & mushrooms were my favorite, although all of my vegan selections were great! Our waiter Zack was extremely friendly, helpful and informative. Be prepared to eat with your hands; wash them before you eat. It is similar to the traditional way of eating Indian cuisine. The bread is meant to be torn, then used to scoop up your food. Overall, an excellent experience for both myself and my carnivorous eating partner.

I love this place so much that my family is considering an intervention - Edit
They have a daily all-you-can-eat lunch buffet with 4-5 vegan entree options (only 2-3 non-vegan entree options, for comparison), rice and injera (bread) are both vegan. Kids under 5 get a free buffet. Friendly staff. DELICIOUS food. I eat too much here. Someone please stop me. Okay, don't.

Delicious Ethiopian food in the River Market - Edit
I love going here, particularly for the lunch buffet (which is a great bargain!). The lunch buffet clearly lists all vegan items, and one of the two soups offered is usually (always?) vegan. If you can't make it for lunch, never fear, there are plenty of veg*n options!

Great food, friendly staff - Edit
I love Ethiopian food, so a good Ethiopian restaurant won't struggle to get a positive review from me.
Read moreThe drawbacks to this place are: finding street parking on weekends and the limited seating.
The perks: staff knows/understands veganism and all of the items in the 'for vegetarians' section on the menu are vegan. Items with cheese are not included in that section.
I don't drink, but they also have a good range of beers and wines from Ethiopia, if that's your thing.
Moderate prices.
Pros: Cosy, Friendly staff, Knowledgeable on veganism
Cons: Serves meat, Limited seating
