Vegan breakfast heaven - Edit
Blackbird has been my go-to spot for over 4 years and they don’t stop to amaze me. Their vegan food is nothing short of amazing - always fresh, creative and full of exciting flavours. Whether it’s their famous toast kimchi with melted cheese & maple syrup, the fluffiest (coconut berry) American pancakes or one of their vibrant lunch bowls, every dish is made with care and passion.
Read moreThe specialty coffee is another highlight of Blackbird. In Bruges (the city where I grew up), it’s not a given to find good coffee. Luckily for me, their rich, smooth and perfectly brewed coffee is the best in town. Whether you’re looking for a classic cappuccino, cortado, espresso or a filter coffee of the month, they never disappoint. The same goes for the fresh juices and tea.
This brings me to my next point of appreciation: the atmosphere, which is truly something special. It’s cosy, welcoming and feels like a safe space. The staff play a huge role in creating that. They are always friendly, attentive and genuinely happy to help, making every visit feel personal and warm.
Nowadays it’s unique to find a place which puts inclusivity and care + quality above quantity at the forefront. If you’re looking for a place with incredible vegan food, outstanding coffee, and a vibe that makes you feel at home, Blackbird is it. I can’t recommend this place enough!

Between the three of us, we had "the lazy breakfast" (a great menu item that is croissant, bread, and granola, plus cheese butter, jam, juice and a tea or coffee), American pancakes, and Kimchee Cheese toast. The "cheese" wasn't great (as is often the case) and the pancakes were a tad chewy. The croissant was delicious and granola also good. Very nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Great that it's fully vegan.

Had been planning to go to Blackbird for a long time, but either we couldn't or it was closed, or fully booked, and then there was a lockdown etc.
So now finally! To be sure, we made a reservation, as it is often fully booked.
Since Spring 2021, everything is vegan. Great!
We ordered some drinks (nice mocktails available), a soup of the day (3,50€) & oven dish (moussaka that day)(16,50€) & the happiness bowl (with peanuts, avocado, lots of greens, ..) (16,50€)
The food was great. Moussaka was just the right portion. The happiness bowl was a very large portion (I couldn't finish it, my husband did).
For dessert a piece of lemon pie (from magpies). It was a huge piece, and enough for the 2 of us (makes sense at 6,50 a piece😉.
Very friendly service. Nice relaxed interior. With some outdoor tables too.
The restaurant room is at ground floor, toilet is at the back - upstairs. No accessible toilet.
We really enjoyed it, and will surely visit again! Recommended

In de Blackbird vind je een grote veganistische keuze voor kleine en grote honger. Onze bowls waren smaakvol met een originele combinatie. De afsluiter: een "milk" met zelfgemaakte taart. Om onze vingers van af te likken. We waren aangenaam verrast en hebben van onze lunch genoten. Een aanrader. Ook een dikke pluim voor de vriendelijke bediening.

The food here is lovely. My partner & I both got the banh mi bagel which was delicious. We also got a cheesecake & cookie from their cake selection which were both really good. Bit on the the pricey side but worth it. Recommend booking a table as it is a popular place. Staff were also very nice.

Don’t get breakfast at your hotel, get it here - Edit
Spotted this place while I was out for a walk as they have a Vegan Summer Fest poster in the window. I got there just after 9am and managed to get a table for 1, but I think I was lucky as most tables were reserved so booking ahead is advised. I had the Tofu scramble and it was excellent, especially the pickled onions. The filter coffee was also very good, using proper specialty beans. They also have a range of vegan/animal rights stickers and t-shirts if that’s your thing 😊

Het eten was heerlijk, de porties perfect en het personeel super lief. Het was eigenlijk al vol maar mochten buiten toch nog plaats nemen. Echt waar het beste restaurants waar mijn vriend en ik ooit hebben gegeten! Wij hadden de hapinnes bowl met quinoa en de blackbird bagel! Als je in Brugge bent echt een bezoekje waard!!!

First, you must have a reservation! In a great location. So many options! Got pancakes, croissant, yogurt and granola, multigrain bread with cheese and jam, OJ, cappuccino, and a ham and cheese croissant to go. (It was good for breakfast the next day!) Everyone there was super friendly. They also had a bunch of desserts in a case! Such a cute place.

Was great to find a 100% vegan address for lunch in Bruges. The different lunch and brunch items we chose were very tasty and fresh! Slightly expensive but it is probably average in the area. They also sell a few nice t-shirts at the back.

Turned up here and was not able to get a table to eat breakfast- we should have booked. However we were offered a little spot (couple of chairs and a little side table) for cake and hot chocolate. It was great and I’d certainly make sure to book if back in the area again. Great to see how popular it was.

We reserved a lunch slot and were glad we did. The restaurant was only accepting reservations when we arrived at lunch hour. We had the balance bowl with quinoa and the blackbird bagel. The “feta” on my salad added the perfect balance to the sweet pomegranate seeds. My husband really enjoyed his bagel meal.
