Comfort food (and drinks) - Edit
The perfect variety of yumminess. The Mac and cheese is the typical nutritional yeast kind, but still yummy. Caesar salad is delicious!!!

Vegan bar food in a punk rock dive that wears its activism on its sleeve. ❤️ - Edit
[censored] beer served by awesome folks. Ok, so you can get good beer and fancy cocktails as well, but this is the kind of place where a PBR functions just as well. Vegan pub grub hits the spot, and the folks working there are authentic, and great. This was the first bar I have visited with a publicly advertised Safer spaces program and am happy to have seen others follow suit.

The food is pretty terrible here. It kind of perfectly describes that cheap bar food that seems frozen and reheated. Definitely would not eat here again, but would still come for the great atmosphere and music.

Great burgers. Love their new kale salad too. Service can be slow but it’s much better now that you order & pay at the bar

fav spot in portland! - Edit
This bar is hands down my favorite spot here in portland! I’m from San Francisco and come up yearly just to partake in the delicious food here but Black Water always takes the cake! the staff is very friendly and what an amazing/cool theme. You’ll see many different people here all welcomed eating their fully vegan menu and drinking at the bar😄the food is beyond delicious and interesting vegan options you definitely don’t always see. My non-vegan boyfriend happily devoured our huge dinner we ordered because there was just too many options that sounded amazing. We were not disappointed and never have been by this restaurant! if you’re on the fence about eating here please try it! a lovely environment with great food! (try the western burger and add cheese if you were a fast food lover before going vegan)

Best Wings! - Edit
My fiancé and I stopped here after an animal-rights march in Portland and we are so glad we did! We ordered chicken wings and they were the best we’ve ever had. We also ordered the Philly and French dip, both of which were good (my fiancé loved the French dip, I thought both sandwiches were pretty okay). Service was outstanding and I would recommend coming here if you are in the area. We’ll be back the next time we’re in Portland, if only for the wings!

best junk food!! - Edit
i love their sandwiches!! some of my fave portland vegan junk food honestly. it's a funny place to get a bite because of it's double duty as a metal/punk music venue but you can just tell the door person you're there for food if they've got a show on.

Epitome of vegan junk food - Edit
If you want your vegan junk food fix, this is the place to go! Pretty reasonably priced, and all the greasy foods you could want. The burgers are quite good. Some things are a bit to oily and heavy for me, but that's sorta the point of the place. I try to stick to sandwiches and burgers now.
Read morePros: Delicious junk food, Good prices, Usually not crowded
Cons: Food is greasy/oily (but that's the point)

Good vibe, salty food. - Edit
I love everything about Black Water; the divey vibe, the loud shows, the wide array of vegan bar food. I had to stop going here though because the last meal I had was INCREDIBLY salty. If they regulated the amount of sodium in the food I would go here all the time.
Read moreAlso, there are zero soy-free options available on the menu.
Pros: Entire bar menu is vegan.
Cons: Too salty, soy in everything on the menu.

Finger licking good - Edit
I love this place it’s staff and owners. I used to work here so I’m biased. All of the food is delicious and house made. DIY punk at its finest. They fought tooth and nail to make this space all ages and keep punk accessible for the under 21 set as Portland’s gentrification killed all of the house shows and warehouse type show spaces. The menu is top notch delicious bar food. I love the scorpion and western burgers, the French dip, the Philly, the chicken tofu sandwich and the nachos. Also Bomb breakfasts on the weekend and usually no line unlike everywhere else in this town. Support!!

Awsome place - Edit
We got two beers, the tater tots with like a ranch sauce, Mac and cheese and I forget the name of the sandwich it might have been called vegan patty sandwich? But it was amazing !! The ranch sauce with the tater tots and the sandwich were unbelievably good. The staff was so nice and helpful. I also got the philly cake they have which is like a tasty cake sort of it was delicious. We went on a night when bands were playing so it’s obviously very loud in there but it was a great experience
