nothing special - Edit
went for breakfast. they had maybe 2 vegan options. i went for the vegan skillet which was decent other than the fact that it was served with REAL BUTTER?? i asked the waitress if they had any dairy free butter and she changed it right away. i assume this was just an error when plating the dish but they really shouldn’t let things like that happen. fair value for the meal (£12) although they do charge an additional 30c for oat milk. the main waiter was quit awkward and dismissive of us, but the girl who ran our food was very friendly and gracious.

fantastic vegan options - Edit
although there aren’t many fully vegan options the ones they do have a great! i stayed here for a few days and during my stay i tried the vegan breakfast skillet which was amazing, the thai mango salad which was lovely and my favorite the Dark Chocolate and Cherry Sundae which was heavenly. the staff were also so kind and helpful! definitely would recommend black ivy especially for those looking for a great bar in edinburgh!

Plenty of vegan dishes?? - Edit
I was shown a three course lunch menu that had one vegan starter (chickpeas) and nothing else. I was told they could do a main course, which was also chickpeas. Had breakfast here the year before and it was borderline insulting - no substitutions so I paid £12 for little more than some beans and toast. Bizarrely all the meat eaters had avocado on their plate but the chef hadn’t thought to include any on the vegan breakfast.
