excellent!

No pictures to share this time, because I took my food to-go. I didn't want to show their food in less than a favorable light. As I was starving, I ordered the chick-less pot pie (to die for!) and the burrito without the dairy (tasty but a little too spicy for me) for later. Loved both! Getting into the shopping center during rush hour can be frustrating, but worth it!

Pros: tasty food, nice location, chic spot

A Wonderful Cafe' Dining Experience

My husband and I love Black Cat Café, because of the large number of delicious vegetarian options, friendly staff and outdoor seating. We find ourselves eating there many times each month. When the weather is nice, you may have to wait for an outdoor table at peak dining times. Sunday brunch is particularly popular, but there are a number of tables so you probably won't have to wait long. Indoor seating is plentiful.

We've always had the nicest waiters, so the service is a real plus for Black Cat. We never have to wait long for our food - even something like the baked eggplant parmesan or pizza. I appreciate that they make so many of their dishes vegetarian and never seem to mind any tweaks we ask for. I'm not sure if they offer take-out service.

I'm happy to see restaurants like Black Cat giving full consideration to vegetarians and healthy eaters - not just offering one or two dishes as an afterthought as most restaurants do. With so much variety and great atmosphere, we'll definitely keep going back!

Pros: Great food & veg options, Friendly waiters, Outdoor seating

Cons: Outdoor tables fill up fast

Never Dining Here Again

I really wanted to like this restaurant bc they have fairly good food w/vegan options, but each time since the first has ranged from bad to terrible.

I have come to believe that our party is being singled out. The first time the possibility occurred to me was when our party of 4 visited for brunch. We were seated then promptly became invisible. We waited 15 min till someone took our drink order & watched as the tables that came after us were served their food while our server continued to avoid eye contact as she passed by. My friend had to approach the counter to remind them to finally bring our drinks. An hour into our "dining experience," we sat watching the 3 tables that arrived after us all being served entrees, including made-to-order lasagna. No one bothered to even update us on the status of the apparently time consuming sandwiches & salads we had ordered. Feeling like the only table being singled out, we finally took the hint, left cash on the table for our drinks, and walked out--the only time I have walked out of a restaurant in all of my 27 years.

Four months later, I was ready to let the past go. This time service wasn't the greatest, but our waiter was new and we were the only ones there the entire time so there was no comparison to make us feel as if we were being treated unequally. However, there was an issue with the check so the manager came over. When a friend at our table tried to tell him that she has had poor service repeatedly, he literally told her she could "find the door." Well, that escalated quickly, I thought to myself.

We were the only table there on a Saturday evening. I don't see how a restaurant can afford to be so rude to customers, considering. Or maybe that is exactly why the manager could afford to be so rude: no witnesses.

I have no idea why other friends report pleasant experiences here when we have consistently felt singled out. Two of my friends who have been with me each time suspect it's discrimination against them as a lesbian couple. I have no way of knowing if that's the case, but that's the way they have come to feel while seeing all the tables around them receive better service time after time. Honestly, that hurts my heart.

Thankfully, Raleigh is a great city with a lot of other restaurants with vegan options.

Pros: vegan food marked as such, Food quality consistent, Quiet place to eat (since mostly empty)

Cons: Poor, inconsistent service, Rude, Very rude

Awesome!

I was with a party of seven and they seated us right away. Everyone was so friendly! The food was beyond Super....yes with a capital S! Everyone at our table ordered something different and each plate was beautifully arranged. They offered a lot of vegetarian options and a few vegan. I am sure that they could tweak most of the vegetarian options to accomodate vegans. I will definitely be back!!! :-)

Pros: Friendly staff, Really really good food, Nice vibe
