Bizi Granel was nothing short of a revelation when I learned about it a while ago. They have a magnificent range of products, so make sure you don't just arrive fifteen minutes before closing..
Read moreI like the fact that most things are organic, and when they're not it's usually for good reason. For example, they'd rather stock conventional sunflower seeds from Spain than organic all the way from China. Last time I visited the owner wasn't there, and staff claimed all the frozen items (burgers, sausages and the like) were organic. I replied that I found that surprising, as I've seen those very products elsewhere and they weren't; she then conceded that she "thought" that "most of them" were organic, or something along those lines. I would appreciate more transparency there.
It can also be a bit of a gamble with some of the most exclusive products, so to speak. For example last time round I picked a cashew cheese that was significantly discounted, but it still cost 10 euros! While some of these delicacies may be geared for the upper class, there's also exciting stuff that I'm still discovering, such as fermented tofu that I hadn't seen anywhere else, and that I've been able to use in many ways.
Bizi Granel and Bizi Slow (a shop devoted to sustainable toiletries and household products) are still in the process of merging their locations. I truly hope they'll form a juggernaut able to compete with the homegrown oligarchs of Veritas!

Las personas que trabajan en esta tienda son geniales, un trato muy familiar y cercano. Productos de muy buena calidad, km 0, a granel, sin consumo de plásticos. Y tienen muchos productos veganos.
