Cheese in dish

Ordered the tomate dish told it was vegan without the asiago. Ordered without asiago, and there was cheese throughout my dish. The waitress talked the chef and they said there was no cheese in it. Not only did it taste like cheese, but I pulled a bunch of cheese out to show. 0/10 no go. Just own up to it, there’s cheese in the sauce.

Not vegan

I tried to call in an order for carry out and was told the only actual vegan things they had were the chips/salsa/guac. The items listed as vegetarian and dairy free were falsely labeled because she said their beans were mashed with chicken stock. I’m not sure how they can label this vegetarian on the menu…? Very disappointing.

Cons: No vegan entrees, No accommodations to make items vegan

Great food

The chips and guac were great. We ordered the blackened tofu tacos and the verdura tacos, they were delicious! The staff knew what to do to make them vegan. Finally some delicious vegan tacos without fake meats!

Pros: Amazing tacos, Staff knowledgeable about vegan dishes

Cons: Parking lot is small

Delicious!

I had the squash tacos, which only required simple modification to be made vegan. They were amazing; I ate way more than I should have! Chips and salsa (and guac) were also delicious. Staff was helpful and the vibe was very chill.

Tofu tacos

We enjoyed the tofu tacos, rice, beans, and guacamole. Not many choices in town for vegans. Menu clearly shows what is vegetarian, you just need to ask for no queso or sour. Yes, its pricey. But what isn't around here. Beer was reasonable at $5 a pint.

Pros: Tofu, Beer, Walkable from hotel or Stop 6

Yummy tofu tacos

My vegan friend and I enjoyed the tofu tacos and the side of Brussels sprouts was to die for. Almost literally because they were so rich.

Pros: Friendly service, Nice outdoor seating

Cons: Expensive

Vegan friendly

Called in an order with an egg and dairy allergy looking for vegan options. After talking through with host she spoke with the chef and nailed down the vegan tofu gluten free tacos, chips/guac/salsa and a side of corn. Other options for vegetarian we ordered for our family that didn’t have the allergies were the sweet potato tamales and bean/cheese tacos (we asked to make them veg). Staff was great and everything was clearly labeled in our take out boxes. Food was tasty, could use a little more flavor or spice. Would recommend!

Pros: Vegan options, Chef reviews order for food allergies, Labeled food boxes well

Tofu tacos are great

The tofu tacos were delicious, and so were the Mayocoba beans and Spanish green rice that came with them. Ask for no dairy so they don’t sprinkle any cheese on top. Good to find this vegan plate in this Zion National Park area! The prickly pear margarita was fun and tasty, too.

Excellent vegan Mexican food! Nice atmosphere. Free parking after 4

Came two nights in a row. The food was hot, fresh and excellent. Flavorful and delicious. Hence the 4 stars. Sadly however, they took the polenta stack off the menu and the sweet potato tamales have parmigiana cheese in the mix, also the first order of street corn came with cheese on it (ordered it without). The second night we learned the corn was also soaked in an aioli sauce! We tried the Brussels sprouts and they were excellent. Loved the tofu tacos, guacamole, beans, rice, sopas with mushrooms, chips, and salsa. Best vegan Mexican food I’ve had. Wait staff quick, accommodating and some of them vegan-informed.

Pros: The tofu tacos and Brussels sprouts were great, Accommodating staff and cooks, Fun atmosphere and convenient location

Cons: Expensive but in a tourist town and good food, Sad they got rid of some vegan options, waitress on 1st visit was not vegan informed

Outdoor Dining & Tofu Tacos!

Pleasantly surprised to find Tofu Tacos on the menu! The chips, guac and salsa were great. We also ordered the Sweet Potato Tamales w/ mushrooms (heads up -- we were told parmesan is one of the ingredients). Due to COVID, it is all outdoor seating and tables are spread out, making for a nice, chill atmosphere. We would definitely eat here again!

Pros: Outdoor dining, Tofu tacos!, Friendly service

Cons: Parmesan in the sweet potato tamales

Nice vegetarian options.

Good vegetarian options however I had trouble when modifying to vegan. I asked if the polenta stacks could be made vegan, the waitress said yes by omitting the goat cheese. When the dish came out there was still sour cream on the black beans and a side salad with an unknown dressing. It looked like a mix between a creamy dressing and a vinaigrette—due to previous reviews and lack of faith (and a busy waitress) I didn’t ask about it or eat it.

Vegan friendly, wonderful food!! The patio is beautiful, service great...

This is a great place for live music, local art, & incredible atmosphere. More vegan options every time we visit and the views from the patio are awesome.

Good Vegan Options, Beautiful Setting

Three vegans loved this restaurant! We sat outside on a beautiful day, with Zion's mountains and hummingbirds as our view. Our server was helpful and accommodating. We had chips with guac and salsa, the polenta cakes (specify vegan), gazpacho (a special of the day), the summer salad, margaritas, and the veggie burrito (specify vegan). Everything was filling and delicious. Raw vegans would find plenty of options here. If we're ever in Zion again, we'll definitely come back here!

Pros: Plenty of Vegan Options, Beautiful Setting

very limited choices

Was not a pleasant experience. They were out of guacamole and their plate of vegetables is marinated with butter. My husband had the veggie burrito with no cheese and liked it. I had the house salad with the citrus vinegrett, it was the only vegan dressing they had, according to the waitress. I wouldn't go back, to be honest.

Pros: friendly service

Cons: be prepared to wait a while for your food.

Limited choices

After hiking in Zion, we wanted margaritas. Since Bit and Spur had margaritas and vegan choices, it fit the bill.

While the margaritas were tasty, there was not an abundance of choices. I messaged the restaurant earlier in the day and was assured they had vegan options. Here are the vegan options:

-Veggie burrito (can sub avocado for cheese)-$14
-Salad with chicken (can remove)-$17
-Salad (already vegan)-$14
-Chips, salsa & guacamole

Both the polenta and the tamales have cheese already in the batter, so cannot be made vegan. We both ordered the veggie burrito which was delicious and included a good amount of avocado. I have never had butternut squash in a burrito before, but now I definitely will again. The burrito was served covered with a spicy green chile sauce.

A good choice after spending the day in Zion, and a good option if dining with omnis.

horrible!

They are not very accommodating... we asked them to switch out the cheese for avocados or Quacamoli and they said the cooks are
Too busy and can't
Do that! Our food came with no cheese ( the veggie burrito) but had a salad with egg sauce all over it... not very vegan friendly... go to oscars! Too expensive and not
Accommodating...

Delicious and flavorful!

Absolutely loved this place. The food was fantastic and flavorful, I especially loved the polenta stack.

Bit and Spur is everything you expect from a nice restaurant--fresh-made food with a chef that can customize dishes to meet your needs. They have some vegan items on the menu but our waiter and the chef were very willing to work with us and with so many great ingredients there were lots of options.

The atmosphere is very nice and relaxing. You could dress up for a nice night out or come in your hiking clothes after a long day (like we did). However, if you have a larger party I would recommend making a reservation.

Oh, and they have great mixed drinks!

Pros: Delicious food, Fresh ingredients, Mixed drinks

Cons: No vegan desserts

Good veggie burrito

Contrary to another review, the burrito has cheese by default. The house salad & dressing are vegan (not sure about the croutons). I got the burrito with no cheese and added guac. My vegetarian partner got the polenta which he thought was very good. Nice atmosphere and a nice selection of local beers. Their special mojito with blueberry was also good. Prompt service too. Ask for a bar table if there is a wait. It looked like a pasta dish was also vegan without the parmesan, but I didn't ask. The waiter was also clear on what was vegan or not.

Pros: Good service, Atmosphere, Tasty food & beer

Cons: limited vegan options

Great food, outside seats, imaginative veg options

Great place with outside seating. We made a reservation and would recommend doing so. The place stays open later than some so this helps when getting back from the Zion trails late. Restaurant has a great vibe and the service was outstanding. We drank wine and beer but they do have margaritas as well. The best thing though was the FOOD! FANTASTIC.

2 of our group are vegetarians and had lots of options that were not just "rice and beans". The best was the Polenta Stack, one of the best dishes we had anywhere in the southwest!

Bit and Spur is convenient to the shuttle and easy walking from many of the hotels/lodges. Fine for big parties and people traveling with kids. I think I also remember seeing a flyer saying that on some nights they have live music. All around great place and would highly recommend that you stop here at least one night.

Pros: outside seating, fun vibe, great food

Cons: noisy, need reservation, might be budget buster for some
