Best Kolaches. PERIOD - Edit
Obsessed with the kolaches. I love the mushroom spinach one where is my partner is obsessed with the spicy seiten one. And they’re dipping sauce that goes with is the perfect accompaniment. So flavorful and well balanced. You can also get their kolaches‘s at dear diary, if the food truck is closed.

Heartburn - Edit
The food was good enough, but this restaurant wears its global politics openly, and I felt hurt by what I saw. Everyone should be made to feel welcome at a restaurant. I shouldn’t have to walk away feeling so low after paying a premium as we tend to do at places like this. Nevertheless, I appreciate the owner’s civil tone when we talked about it.

Bistro Vonish is hands-down my favorite restaurant - vegan or not - in the world - Edit
I've been going here regularly since they opened 10 years ago, and what makes Bistro V special is the ridiculous amount of love and flavor Chef Craig puts into all of his dishes. Everything is made from scratch, all of the ingredients are fresh, and you can tell how much thought and effort is put into every entree, side, or dessert. From a decade of eating here, I can tell you with confidence that the food is consistently amazing every time. It's so good I always end up getting an entree and multiple sides, or splitting multiple entrees with my wife. 10/10, best on the planet.

Amazing food, cool location - Edit
This little food truck is located outside of a little shop that houses zucchini kill (a vegan bakery) and witchy like products. There are also other vegan food trucks in this spot as well.

Open hours are for walk-up dining are something of a mystery at the moment (late Oct 2020). However the web pre-order menu works, with pickup Weds or Sat (these days only) after 5:15pm.

Elated by the “elevation” - Edit
This “elevated” cuisine delivered on all levels when my wife and I dined here last night. This food seems like it would come from a very classy dine in restaurant. We each got a couple of the smaller dishes and a cheesecake and both split a little bit of everything from the kale and cheese soup and bruschetta to the arepas and pumpernickel toast with cabbage and cashew cream. All but the arepas has a different bread and they were all very different and each delicious. I felt like the portions to price ratio was certainly favorable, especially considering the quality.
Read moreWe will definitely be back again to try some other dishes. We had been one other time in the past and weren’t super impressed and had only gotten the fried “oysters” and Mac and cheese and while both were fine, they didn’t stand out like everything we had last night when we visited again.
Pros: Large menu with varied options , Dishes are truly “elevated”, Everything is unique, and most importantly great!

Mac and cheese - Edit
This place is located in possum park, a vegan food truck and shop area off airport. They have all sorts of food, and it's all vegan! I personally had the spicy mac and cheese and it was wonderful! The right amount of heat, great flavor, and a crispy cheesey crust! Definitely check it out if you want to experience an interesting, unique vegan food truck!

Yum! - Edit
We had the sweet potato arepas, spicy Mac n cheese, and the bbq seitan sandwich. Love the arepas, the combination of the sweet potato cornbread and the sweet jalapeño jelly sauce works so well together and topped with the vegan sour cream. The spicy Mac n cheese was very flavorful, some smokiness and had a good amount of heat, it was creamy and and rich. Really enjoyed the bbq seitan, the French bread baguette was awesome, they give you a good size portion.

Did not like the food so much - sorry. Once they made us a special plate but everything was burned. Some of the food was good/okay. Would not recommend. The handwriting on the food menu is really hard to read.

Elevated vegan cuisine is right - Edit
Craig, owner, makes some pretty fantastic uncommon vegan dishes at Bistro, all of which make my tastebuds sing. I love love love his BBQ sandwich and his Hearts of Palm Po Boy sandwich......all ingredients so fresh, scrumptious and nutritious. His passion for creating unique delicious vegan food is a pleasure to experience. Make sure you get one of his thirst-quenching agua fresca's, and round out your meal with a slice of divine Mousseline Chocolate Pie!

Amazing Mac and Cheese, very subpar Cinnamon Roll - Edit
I will preface this with the fact that I have been on the hunt for a good vegan cinnamon bun for about 6 months, and I have not been able to find one that has satisfied my craving yet. When I was looking up vegan places to go in Austin and I saw the words 'cinnamon roll', I got so excited.
Read moreI ordered the mac and cheese and a cinnamon roll. For context, it was the middle of the afternoon on a Friday, so it was not busy at all. The mac and cheese was delightful. It was so creamy and cheesy and satisfying. The pasta was a little bit soft, but since it was gluten free, that is to be expected. The textures of the pasta was balanced by some crispy crust bits. I was so satisfied with this mac and cheese, and if ever in the area again, I would definitely get it.
The cinnamon roll on the other hand was so disappointing. I don't know if it was just the time of day/week, but it was so hard and so stale. The glaze was also not my favorite, and the cinnamon roll itself was not nearly as cinnamon-y as I would have liked. I would not recommend the cinnamon roll at all.
All in all, I really liked Bistro Vonish and I would definitely recommend the mac and cheese that I had, but this rating has less stars because of the very sad cinnamon roll.
Pros: Great mac and cheese, Friendly people
Cons: Bad cinnamon roll

Bistro Vonish - Edit
Saturday and sunday tofu scramble is amazing! You can have it with french toast or home fries. They do things right here. Everything is gourmet vegan. Delicious mac'n'cheese!! I also really like the greens. Basically everything on the menu is amazing but those are some of my favorites. There is a 'classics' menu and a rotating seasonal one so you will always have something comforting and interesting.
