One of few options in Big Sur

My mother-in-law had been dying to go here for years and I didn't think I'd be able to eat anything. They had a vegan soup on the menu (which was pretty bland) and they were able to veganize my avocado toast by subbing oil for butter. I didn't think to check if the bread was vegan (it didn't look like any of the pastries were). Cute place but not very vegan-friendly.

Pros: Few options, Cute seating area and garden, One of few options in the area

Cons: Not many vegan choices, No vegan pastries :(

Not vegan friendly

This is a blank look ‘the soup is gluten-free. we don’t really have anything vegan’ kind of place. We literally stopped here because the previous post that they had options and it was a total fail. Do not stop here.

Pros: Lettuce, Seats , Water

Cons: Not vegan friendly, Don’t know dif. Between vegan and gluten-free.

Favorite Restaurant in Big Sur

In a tiny town without many restaurant options, I'm so thankful that the Big Sur Bakery always offers a vegan, gluten-free soup for lunch & dinner. It is consistently full of flavor and home-made goodness. The menu has a section of vegetable dishes that are intended to be served as sides, but I always order one as a salad starter and the soup as my main. The vegetable dishes are large portions with very creative flavor combinations and always leave me feeling full & impressed.

The atmosphere of the bakery is relaxed and unpretentious catering to both campers & visitors from the upscale hotels near-by. There is a mix of outdoor seating for warm weather or cozy tables indoors for an intimate dinner.

Dog friendly seating outdoors.

Pros: Delicious & Flavorful, Nice atmosphere, Friendly staff

Cons: Slightly expensive, Wish there were more vegan mains, Behind a gas station
