Very enjoyable - Edit
Places with solid vegan options are few and far between in the Adirondacks, so first of all, thank you Big Slide for having several clearly marked options on the menu. We got a vegan pizza — which was amazing and had perfect crust — and a vegan noodle stir fry, equally delicious and thoughtfully made with a variety of veggies. I loved the vibrant atmosphere and beer selections, too. Would make it 5/5 if I were allowed to.

Best Vegan Options on the Lake - Edit
Vegan options clearly marked on the menu.
Read moreFor appetizer: Had the Mutabel (Eggplant tahini dip, pomegranate molasses, cucumber, tomato, smoked paprika, EVO served with warm pita) and House Salad with Vegan Ranch.
For dinner: Black and White Bean Falafel (They mention that they can make it vegan directly on the menu). Also had the Gatherer Pizza (Vegan garlic crème fraiche base, roasted and marinated vegetables, vegan mozzarella, balsamic glaze swirl).
For dessert, had an excellent Vegan Carrot Cake with vegan cream cheese frosting and walnut praline.

I was happy to see that the vegan carrot cake someone had mentioned they were developing in their review is there now! Big and delish. Pizza was solid too.

Grateful for options - Edit
This place consistently has a few vegan options on the menu which we so appreciate. We had a veggie sandwich with fries and a stir fry. Sandwich was small and veggies are cooked but cold. Stir fry was tasty but soupy. Carrot cake is amazing! Overall, the food is good and we’ll go back. Grateful for the options which are scarce here!

Good Food but Seating is Chaos - Edit
The menu here is fantastic, which is the only way I can give it four stars. We arrived on a relatively normal Tuesday and were told it was an hour wait. There were six tables open, but the wait list showed we were 9th on the list. I guess they hold tables for people who aren’t anywhere near the facility, which seemed very chaotic to me. My kids were starving and we almost left, but we finally asked if they could serve us at the seating area bar top, and the two young hostesses just blankly stared and looked at us like we were idiots. Once we got seated, the bartender was awesome and the food was fantastic. But please hire some nice people to manage the seating because that really spoiled the experience.

Good Stuff - Edit
On the menu they label the vegetarian and vegan options. I ordered the white and black bean falafel dish and it was really tasty. They even put vegan cheese on top.

Amazing falafel! - Edit
I ordered the white bean falafel with fries and omg it was delicious!! Next time I might ask for the spicy sauce on the side as I don't handle spice well but other than that it was perfect! My husband ordered the vegan pizza and also loved it. Friendly service too!

great! very accommodating - Edit
though it’s not a vegan restaurant, they were very accommodating to making vegan alternatives which was awesome. i got the mediterranean pizza swapped with vegan cheese, vegan poutine, and the white bean hummus platter. also had vegan carrot cake which was great but a bit too sweet tasting for my liking. great option!

Must-try - Edit
Big Slide does a great job maintaining multiple vegan options on their menu as it changes based on seasonal availability. They normally have a vegan sandwich, pizza, and entree option, and now even dessert! At the time of this review they had a pulled jackfruit pita sandwich, Korean BBQ “chicken” pizza, and tofu au vin, plus carrot cake. Excellent beer with friendly service and awesome food. You can’t make reservations but can join the waitlist via their website prior to arrival to avoid waiting for a table.

Good service, terrible vegan entrees - Edit
It's a cute place but the vegan options were not good at all. My husband had the Tofu Au vin. It was like they took a block or two of tofu, sliced it in thirds, threw in sauteed vegetables and smothered the hell out of it with a brown salty sauce. You couldn't really tell from looking what vegetables were in there because of the amount of sauce. He took a few bites and was done.
Read moreI ordered the vegan Korean bbq pizza. It wasn't good at all. I had a slice thinking it would get better and I was SO hungry. My husband tasted it and spit his bite into his napkin.
They took off the cost of one meal.
A no-go if you eat a vegan diet.

Great place - Edit
We liked this place very much. There are few vegan options around Lake Placid and this was the best in our experience. The pizza was very good. One of us is also gluten free and all the sandwiches and pizzas can be GF, which is huge for us. The server was super helpful pointing out what could be vegan and GF beyond the obvious. Good, house brewed beers (the porter is excellent). The place was hopping and there was a bit of a wait as they do not take reservations but you can hang out at the bar with a beer or mocktail for the kids.

Holly crap it’s good - Edit
2 vegan options 1 vegan desert…. But worth it. We had the vegan pizza and a pita, both were full of flavour and so good. The chefs here are super talented. We didn’t have room for dessert, but if the main dishes are any indication of how the dessert would have been I can guarantee it would have been great!

Vegan thai bbq pizza was DANK - Edit
Did not expect such a good little pie from a place up here, where vegan options are relatively few and far between. This is the place to go post-hike or if you’re about to have a long drive back downstate. Several cool-looking in-house beers on tap (will be back to try some). More importantly, the vegan pizza on the menu was delicious — and the pickled shishito appetizer was great too. I do wish there were one or two more veg options but regardless this is gonna become a regular spot of ours!

Rotating Menu - Edit
I love Big Slide, but you need to check their most current menu before heading there. Sometimes there's only one vegan option. Lately brunch hasn't offered much at all for vegan fare. Their Instagram is a great way to keep in the know.

Came here for some drinks and dinner on my last trip to the mountains and had the vegan buffalo pizza and it was super delicious! Would recommend if you’re looking for a place not directly in the center of Lake Placid.

We really enjoyed our dinner here. Got the buffalo vegan chix pizza and almost all their other pizza’s can be made vegan which we did for the mushroom one. We also orders the vegan carrot cake but I forgot to take a photo before we ate it! The food was a bit heavy and greasy but a nice option for the area that doesn’t have a ton of options.

Excellent pizza - Edit
Mostly a carnist restaurant, but at least had some great vegan options. The buffalo “chicken” pizza was shockingly good. A non-vegan friend who got it said she thought it was still one of the best pizzas she ever had. Definitely recommend that if you go.

Amazing buffalo "chicken" pizza - Edit
The buffalo chicken pizza was 🔥. They didn't have a ton of vegan options, but what they had was great, and it was clearly marked on the menu. The waitress we had is vegetarian, so she was very understanding, and told us that while there are no vegan desserts yet, there will be a vegan carrot cake coming soon. So it sounds like they're working on improving their vegan options!

Big Slide is a favorite of ours when we come into Lake Placid, especially on IRONMAN weekend since it's right on the bike/run courses.

Few, but very well done, vegan options - Edit
There are only a few vegan options on the menu (plus more that are vegetarian), but those that exist are clearly marked and done extremely well. Staff is well-versed and attentive to dietary needs. Vegan pizza option (Buffalo chicken) was absolutely phenomenal, and as a bonus, their GF crust is also vegan. Would happily have gone back the following night, but tried Lake Placid Brewery (same owners, I believe, and also good options)
