Wonderful Food and Service - Edit
Their edamame and roasted squash dishes were out of this world yummy. Served was awesome and accommodating. Macadamia nut cheese was delicious!

Unnecessarily good food for a brewery - Edit
Falafel sandwich with macadamia nut cheese was really satisfying: the focaccia was fresh and crisp, the falafel was hearty, the fillings were flavorful and well-rounded. The fries were also excellent: crispy, salty, hot. Although not a huge amount of options, this place really surprised on the execution.

Delicious but few options - Edit
Love that the menu has vegan options marked, kind of sad that they use the vegan V to mean vegetarian though—you’ll do a double take! The falafel sandwich is really good; great focaccia by any standard, and the toum is legit. The house made pickles are pretty mediocre sadly. Oh and very solid fries too.

Great option! - Edit
Everyone here was very friendly and accommodating. I got beans and rice without the sour cream, and my husband got the falafel sandwich. The setting is a pub environment, and they had live music outside when we were visiting. We also met their adorable local chicken, Nachos.

Friendly - Edit
We had a flight of 5 beers. I liked the red ale the best. For dinner, I got the roasted Kabocha and he got the falafel sandwich. Shared a full order or fries. Left with very full bellies.

Delicious vegan food - Edit
The Brewhaus has so many vegan options! Most menu items can be made vegan by substituting for local macnut cheese. The servers are very knowledgeable and friendly about what options are vegan. I recommend the kabocha pumpkin with vegan Creme fraiche or the Astro Nachos with falafel and macnut cheese. Their beer is good, too!

The falafel sandwich was SO good! - Edit
This little restaurant is worth the drive even if you’re not staying nearby. I loved their falafel. My husband added falafel to his black bean burrito and he didn’t like that combo too well. But as a sandwich it was really good. It did get very loud inside with many people drinking so it’s not the most family friendly place unless you can snag a seat outside.

5 stars by me!!! - Edit
It won’t let me give 5 stars because they’re not 100% vegan, but this place has come a long way since the last review. They now have vegan macadamia but cheese (SO good!) and guacamole. All extremely reasonably priced and absolutely will go back next time we are on the island! Such a cute place, and beers were absolutely delicious.

No guacamole - Edit
Was really hoping to just have a simple black bean with rice and guac burrito, having noticed so many of the main courses include guac I asked if I could swap cheese for it only to learn they were all out... odd and disappointing. Black bean dip was good. There were about 3-4 vegan options, most were vegetarian and the beers are all vegan- if you drink.

Maybe the best place to eat out in Waimea - Edit
Probably the most lively spot in town with vegan options. No more tofu, but their falafels are good and different (soft/moist). The menu now labels vegan items, although you can get things like kabocha squash and burritos without the dairy stuff. (Finally, guacamole has been available only once out of the several times I've been there for food.)

Limited selection at the Big Island Brewhaus - Edit
We stopped at the Brewhaus for dinner on a Sunday evening. Based on other reviews, I asked about getting a burrito with tofu. The waitresses response was "You won't get any tofu here". They were out of guacamole so the options seemed more limited. I ordered the black bean and rice burrito, hold the cheese. The burrito comes with a dish they call "won bok slaw". I asked if the slaw was vegan and the waitress said she believed it was but would mark the order as vegan and check with the chef as he was very knowledgeable about vegan food. She never got back to me. A different waitress delivered the food, I again asked if the slaw was vegan. She said that it contained no meat. I asked if it contained any dairy or mayo. Her response "No, it's vegan, it's a honey mustard dressing."(clearly not vegan). Some of the people in our group ordered food that should have included guacamole. There was no compensation offered (we ordered chips and salsa which could have been offered in leu of the guacamole or they could have reduced the amount they charged us). Speaking of the chips, they were not very tasty. They were slightly burned and had no salt. I had to flag down a waitress to get salt. I really wanted to like this place. The food we got was pretty good but it sounds like the options for vegans have diminished over time. The wait staff was not very accommodating. No one came by to check if we needed anything or if we wanted refills on our water.

Lots of vegetarian options, but could use more labelled vegan options. There wasn't a vegan burrito on the menu but perhaps possible with substitutions? The bean dip was great and the roasted macadamia nuts were delicious

Stopped in here twice on our way through Waimea. Both times we had some snacks, but filled up quickly on their black bean dip/mac nuts and some beer. Honestly the food was good, but the beer is what made both visits special.

Decent burrito, great beer - Edit
We went mostly for the beer and we were definitely not disappointed. The vegan tofu burrito was pretty tasty with guacamole added. It wasn't the most amazing thing I've ever eaten, but it was pretty satisfying. The habanero sauce really gave it some extra flavor. The free chips and salsa were pretty good too. Both times we were there pretty early in the day, so it wasn't too crowded or noisy and the service was excellent.

Not Great - Edit
I tried to order an appetizer of guacamole, but the waitress said they were short on it so they were saving their guacamole supply for main course dishes. I had the taco salad which at $12 was pretty pricy. It was small, had no dressing, the shell wasn't very crispy, and the "guacamole" consisted of a grape-sized chunk of inedibly hard avocado.
Read moreMy husband had the tofu vegan burrito. It was a little better, but he said it was "weak" and he only ate it because he was so hungry.
We were there at about 3:30 pm on a weekday afternoon in late January, and it was still loud and the floors looked sort of dirty. The men's restroom was either out of order or somebody had passed out in there, because it was locked the whole time we were there.

Good food, good service, local flavor - Edit
We found the brewhaus while searching for vegetarian options in the area. It was busy on a Friday night, and we could tell that it was a local gathering place. The staff was friendly and fast. As soon as we sat down, chips and salsa were brought to our table. My husband had the garden vegan burrito, and I had the tofu vegan burrito. Both were delicious, and we had enough left over for lunch the next day. There’s not a great vegan selection, but vegetarians can order tofu as their “meat” in some items.

Delicious Mexican fools and great beer - Edit
We decided to drive the hour from Kona to try this place out. It was fantastic. I had the special veggie burrito and it was delicious. They use locally grown ingredients and have many vegetarian/vegan choices. The service was fantastic! If you get the chance and have the time, definitely give this place a try!

Food is fine, atmosphere is frustrating - Edit
They have a small vegetarian selection with 2 vegan options. The burrito I got was fine - no complaints about the food. When you see how small the place is you'll be shocked to know there is live music in the evenings. Yep, that makes it LOUD. There is a little outdoor seating, but remember your jacket!
