Painfully loud music - Edit
Had a horrible, literally painful experience here yesterday. The mushroom bowl dish was tasty and the service was friendly. But the music was so sadistically loud I literally left as soon as I could, and with a bad headache. I was there at about 4:00 pm on a weekday when the restaurant only had a few occupied tables. But still the server refused to turn down the music volume when I asked nicely. She said the owner has a policy that staff isn't allowed to turn down the music.

Pricey and kind of hit or miss - Edit
Been a few times between various trips to New York. It's good enough that I keep coming back, though some entrees are better than others. The appeal here is just as much novelty as it is taste. Vegan caviar that looks and pops in your mouth like salmon roe is worth trying! I highly recommend the ginger "beef" dumplings.

Exciting and tasteful vegan sushi - Edit
I have been to many vegan sushi restaurants around, but Beyond Sushi has been the most tasty. A wide menu of various sushi-related dishes, even sushi burritos. If you are a group eating together, try as many options as possible!

Delicious Sushi! - Edit
I was really excited about visiting Beyond Sushi and found the menu really exciting - I wish I could have tried more dishes! We shared the fried chick'n bao, which were really flavoursome, along with the might mushroom, oshizushi spicy salmon, and smoky dragon rolls. They were all really tasty, though the salmon was perhaps a bit too subtle for me. The smoky dragon rolls were my absolute favourite, so much flavour. We also tried the ube cashew cheesecake, which was creamy but not quite what we'd been hoping for - the predominant flavour was nuts rather than ginger, the base was extremely thin, and the streusel was more like dust. It was fine, but not quite what we'd been hoping for. We wished we'd gone for an extra savoury plate instead of dessert, because all the savoury dishes were fantastic.

All vegan sushi place. I‘ve been there with an omni friend and she was absolutely stunned and couldn’t believe that the „salmon“ she was eating is actually vegan. We shared dumplings, 2 different sushi rolls and dessert - everything was more than delicious!

Had to come back after our last visit a few years ago! They have such interesting and exciting sushi rolls and appetizers, it’s nice to have something better than just cucumber in my sushi haha. We got the ginger dumplings, oyster mushroom bao and the rainbow sushi roll and everything was delicious. Definitely want to come back and try more things on my next trip back to the city!

Eggplant Unagi is next level - Edit
I’m kind of an eggplant aubergine connoisseur having cooked and eaten a lot of it! I’m very picky and only like it when it’s not hard, has to be soft yet still retain its shape. Kind of like biting into warm butter is my fav way of enjoying it. Melty and dreamy. They hit the nail on the head. The eggplant is perfectly cooked! Mixed with the sushi rice, seaweed and flavourings: wow!! I would come back here just for that dish forever! Totally dreamy and really well done! I’m a whole foods vegan and don’t really enjoy soy or substitutes in general, they have many good plates for that!
