Deadpan Dinner - Edit
My water glass had a lip print on it, which was an off-putting start to the dinner. Then the server made a lot of jokes with a straight face and a monotone. Others might appreciate that kind of humor, but I just find it annoying. The Veggie Sambusa was pretty bland, but it was served with a spicy sauce I didn't try. The Lentil Sambusa was too spicy for my low tolerance. The Kik Alicha Wot (yellow split peas cooked in ginger, garlic, and onion) was served on injera with "house salad" (lettuce). I enjoyed it, but not enough to suffer through the server's humor again.

Interesting - Edit
Great interior and friendly staff. Although the guy that makes all the jokes can get to be a bit much at times. The food, however, I found to be pretty bland. I've had much more flavorable elsewhere, and I'll probably just stick to those. Try it out for yourself.

Good food, witty service - Edit
Veggie combo, which is vegan, was delish! Called ahead if reservations needed and humorous convo ensued and continued when we arrived. BTW not needed. We arrived at 7pm Friday night and seated within 5 minutes.

Pretty good, glad to find Ethiopian fare in PDX - Edit
Decent choice of vegan options. A little challenging to find, no signage on the building at all. The Injera was good, and we were told it was 100% teff. We opted for the veggie sampler and it was pretty tasty, but small-ish portions, and the seasoning could have been a little more robust. Friendly staff.

Good food, weird service - Edit
We didn't get off to a good start because we had called ahead to see if we needed a reservation for an early dinner on a Saturday night. In the phone they said no, but when we got there they could seat us so we sat at the bar. The waitress gave us attitude at first, then they switched us to a waiter and he had a much nicer attitude, but he greeted us with "Good morning!" at 6pm. We ordered samosas, a beer salad and a veggie combo for two. All of these foods are already vegan with no alterations. The food was very good and I would go back, but make a reservation first.

The one who said good morning to you is named Peter. He has a very dry delivery sense of humor and often tells people good morning in the evening. He loves messing with customers. It’s takes a minute to pick up of his humor but he is a really funny guy!
