Good for Groups

We eat here pretty often for work dinners, as we often stay across the street. I've always liked everything I've ordered. I've had the green and red curry with tofu and the pad thai too.

I see people giving this place bad reviews, but I think it's probably the best place for vegan options in Ancestor Square. That said, I'm not the strictest vegan. I often forget to ask about fish sauce and other sneaky non-vegan ingredients, and I do feel some pressure to be a little more flexible in work situations.

The servers have always been nice to me and I've never had a problem with the food here. I'll definitely be back.

Pros: Tofu on the menu, Good spice level

Borderline Horrible

This place was a huge disappointment. One of the few Thai places I've ever been in where they can't/won't make vegan versions of their curry dishes.

The tom kha soup was so sweet it was gross. My eggplant dish was decent, but the service was horrendous. The waitress had no idea what was vegan or not and at least she got someone who did, but then forgot my drink order and came back nearly 10 minutes later to ask me what I wanted again. I had to wait forever for the check and then when she finally brought it I finally got so frustrated from waiting an eternity that I went to someone else to pay. I was there on a Monday afternoon and there were only about 4-5 tables total and there was at least 1 other server.

I would never go back here.

Pretty good

I'm not a fan of coconut milk, so finding a Thai dish without it can be tricky. Fortunately, Benja's menu describes each meal, so I was able find a good entree and a veggie roll. The sushi was small and had hardly anything in it.

Hit and Miss

Visited here many times and it has often been great but there have been some disappointing dishes as well. Generally, the curries here were the best.

Plenty of vegan dishes, really nice atmosphere

Our server noticed I was wearing my “I don’t eat my homies” t-shirt and she instantly started telling me which dishes were vegan and making sure there was no oyster sauce in anything. She was very informed and really nice. The food was very good. In addition to a Thai food they also have vegan sushi which sounded interesting. I really liked this restaurant and would go again if I were ever in St. George again.

Pros: Good food, Really nice staff, Pretty atmosphere

Cons: Serves meat and other animal products

Wow, thanks for posting. Who knew St. George would have good vegan food? This is an asset now when making a road trip to Zion Nat'l Park, to know one can stop on the freeway and eat like this.

Asked For Vegan Got The Opposite

I ordered vegan take out and specifically asked for no meat, eggs, fish sauce, dairy, etc. They told me they could do that for me no problem. I picked up my food and took it home only to discover there was chicken and eggs clearly visible in the dish. The carton was even labeled no meat, which is concerning for two reasons. One because it said no meat on the box and they still messed up, and two that it was labeled no meat instead of vegan. I'm scared to order from here again, and probably won't unless I'm desperate for vegan options.

Cons: Don't know diff between vegan and vegetarian.

Good Thai food

Plenty of options can be made vegan. Cashew nut stir fry w crispy tofu was solid. Nothing on the menu is explicitly labeled as vegan but definitely plenty of stuff to eat still

Edit: came back the following week and tried the pad Thai (with crispy tofu & no egg). Also delicious

Decent when in a pinch

The people were very nice and accommodating to gluten free and vegan. The food was decent and I am thankful for it but probably wouldn’t go back. I am not from around here and they are only serving pick up or curb side but they are located in the center of a plaza with access to the street, and two parking lots. They only do curb side pick up through a specific parking lot and it took M a while to find it because there are so many other restaurants around it.

Pros: 5 gluten free, vegan options , Decent price

Cons: Wasn’t very flavorful , The location is not easy to find

Pad Thai

The noodles were bland and stuck together in a clump. Not much flavor. Go somewhere else and save money, it cost me $16 for pad Thai and they charged per each vegetable I added

This restaurant takes a lot of trust

Do they know the difference between vegetarian and vegan here? It doesn't seem likely. I had to go on trust that they didn't lather fish sauce on my dish and when I asked about crispy tofu, they told me it was deep fried. In the same oil as everything else. So I got soft tofu and just had to hope they didn't put fish sauce in even though we asked for specifically vegan dishes. I think if I ever come back in the future, I'd only order avacado sushi rolls. That's it. Because it's just too hard to trust the carnist minds.

Pros: Prompt, Kind, Attentive

Cons: Ignorant, Carnist-run, Cross- contamination and hard to trust if it's veg

ok, but...

Vegan dishes are not marked on the menu, only some that "can be made vegetarian". I specifically asked for vegan dishes without eggs or fish sauce etc. and they were like ok, we can do it, and everything seemed good enough (although I'm always uncertain about the places that don't have specifically marked vegan dishes), until the last bite of noodles with tofu where my husband realized he was suddenly eating a piece of beef (no one at our table was having any meat). They apologized but that was it, we left feeling pretty bad...

Pros: location, tasty enough

Cons: accidentally put beef in our meal, not sure if they know what vegan actually means, vegan options not marked on the menu

Many vegan options

Love the cashew nut dish. Ask for vegan with tofu. I get mine at a level 4 of spice. The mango sticky rice is amazing!

Pros: Great food

Cons: A bit expensive

good vegan options

Had a pretty good lunch today. The pad Thai (hold the egg) was fine. So was the papaya salad (hold the fish sauce.). The vegetable tofu soup was very good, and even better than the miso soup. The high point was the mango sticky rice dessert, which needed no veganizing.

Pros: best place between Vegas and Kanab!, mango sticky rice, helpful server

Cons: fish tank near front door

Yes vegan friendly!

After being seated I asked my waitress (Brandy) what she suggested for a vegan to order. She knew what vegan meant and was able to explain that all the noodle dishes and some of the stir fry dishes contained fish sauce. She suggested a few veggie dinners that didn't contain fish sauce that could be ordered with soft or crispy tofu, and also said I could order any of the other dishes without fish oil but said the flavor of the dish would be lacking. I ended up with 2 rolls of veggie sushi (different ingredients than listed on the online menu- was vegan), a roll of cucumber sushi, and some edamame. It was great and I was very impressed with my waitress' knowledge!

Pros: Knowledgeable Staff, Fresh Ingredients, Tofu option

Cons: Fish oil in most dishes

Great option for this sleepy retirement community

Many items on the menu can be made Vegan. When we questioned our waiter about fish sauce and a like, he asked if we wanted our food prepared Vegan! That is a welcome breath of fresh air in a town this size made up of mostly retirees.

Our food was very tasty, it was oilly but that is Thai food, I would expect nothing else. We had vegi rolls and sea weed salad to start and tofu with thin Vermicilli noodles and veggies along with Pineapple fried rice for the main course.

The service was excellent and friendly. I will eat here everytime I come to town.

Pros: Good selection of could be made Vegan, Nice atmosphere while still casual, ample parking

Cons: We had a twenty minute wait on a Wed at 7pm, No fake meat products

Good food, not vegan friendly

The food at Benja is good although quite greasy. The menu has clearly marked veg options and also dishes that can be made vegetarian. I was concerned though because most dishes contain fish sauce and it is common for non-veg restaurants to not realize that fish sauce is not veg.

Most dishes contain eggs, even those that do not clearly list eggs in the ingredients contain eggs. It is very difficult to find a vegan option on the menu.

The staff was not overly friendly or helpful. Our waitress was even less helpful when we were requesting help in getting a vegan option. The food is extremely greasy and oily. This was my first experience with Thai food so it may just be a feature of Thai cuisine but I wasn't impressed with that.

Overall the food has a good flavor and I think vegetarians would enjoy the restaurant, but I wouldn't go back.

Pros: Good flavor, vegetarian options

Cons: Eggs in everything, Very greasy, Not very friendly staff
