Great lunch - Edit

We lunched in this very nice place.
The food was great, the staff very friendly, helpfull.

We went in with our dog and brought water, as a wellcome gesture.

We went back and twice.

A real bummer - Edit

This one was a bummer.
I live in the heart of the historical center of Barcelos and I know almost everyone.
I go to casa das natas every day for years,I get greeted “bom dia Donna Maria” and there are days where I walk down the shopping street and I stop 3 times because people want to have a chat.
So I would consider myself a local.
I’ve been to Benedito 3 times and I’m a vegan,só it’s a good place to get something for lunch if I’m to busy to cook at my place and they have vegan options,healthy food.
As it was the case yesterday,I had a meeting and it was already 14:30 when I was finally able to get something to eat,nothing heavy,just a soup.
Benedito still had soup,I sat down,the soup was superb,the pineapple lemonade with the dried lime cest an absolute must.
At the time of payment my debit card simply didn’t work.Mbway didn’t work on 2 apps,I went to the the bank on the other side to try to withdraw money with the same card.
It didn’t work.
Luckily I was able to see on the app my money status and there was plenty.
But the head of staff went completely evil,intense,as if I was trying to scheme them,also pushing me to actualize my app.I even suggested to leave there my citizen card for guarantee until I figure out what’s happening.That was declined.Oh and I had to explain why I only have one bank card and not multiple (a lot of fuss because of a soup,á lemonade and a coffee)
I encouraged him to call his boss.
When he called he said” there’s a FOREIGNER here with a card that’s not working” I was puzzled and I asked to talk to the owner directly to explain the situation,I said I’m Dona Maria Carvalho and I live around the corner,occasionally coming here,and my BPI card is not working.
The boss was so so kind and understanding and told me I could come the next day and pay.
No problem.The chief of staff pointed down my name and number…and I said…look…it’s portuguese(I could have additionally said…look…the number is Portuguese aswell) and he looked up and said but I thought your foreign,and I said I have lived in Germany for many years in fluent Portuguese,but with a foreign twist in the language.(Not saying that in fact my dad is German,my mother lives in Portugal,my grandparents uncles,cousins etc lived and live in Portugal,I mean how many people are children of Portuguese immigrants,a lot) but it doesn’t matter,it shouldn’t matter…he started to apologize and sayd oh he thought I’m foreign and he started to be kinder.Why? Because I’m “not” foreign???
