Such good food!! - Edit
Stayed overnight & had:
Read moreTruffle mushrooms on toast (couldn't taste any truffle though)
Seitan ribs
Sunday roast, seitan chicken
Juicy marbles steak
Sticky toffee pudding
Cheesecake
Full breakfast
Pancakes
And afternoon tea
All was delicious but Sunday roast and afternoon tea were both 10/10 and I'd really recommend! You have to book afternoon tea a day in advance.
Service was quite slow that's my only criticism!

Worth the drive - Edit
I discovered Beck Hall just after they went fully vegan. Seeing a business make this positive change made Mr want to visit even more. Today I drove the 2 hour round trip and boy was in worth it. The food choices were exceptional and both myself and my husband had delicious food which didn't include fake meat. Its almost like with a bit of thought, great vegan food doesn't need to be full of highly processed components! I will definitely be returning

Can’t wait to come back - Edit
We had a beautiful stay at Beck Hall. The rooms weren’t my favourite but let’s be honest, we go for the food. Dinner in particular was amazing - Sunday roast was a proper treat. Sticky toffee pudding and lemon cheesecake also delightful. Breakfast was great with pastries and chia pudding, the only let down was the full breakfast needed a bit more flavour overall. Next time we come we’ll book in for afternoon tea too!

Already planning the return! - Edit
Been looking forward to this visit for months and it did not disappoint! Firstly, the hotel itself is in a gorgeous location surrounded by plenty of hiking options. Our room was in the old building full of character. You get handed a flask of oat milk on check in for in-room tea/coffee (it’s replenished daily by housekeeping) and there’s Booja Booja truffles as an accompaniment. Breakfast was fabulous, couldn’t decide what to order from the kitchen menu (the avocado & lox sourdough was ace, esp the little drops of pesto & chilli flakes on the plate). Big fan of the chia pot also. We had dinner one night - we shared the Lebanese caprese and the bread basket; then I had the Thali (very tasty but I couldn’t finish it) and my partner had the fish & chips. For dessert, he had sticky toffee pudding and I had the pomegranate rose meringue. Everything was perfect. We had a few drinks at the bar during our stay - such a luxury not to have to worry about non-vegan wines! We discovered the dirty cow baileys alternative (it’s a wonderful nightcap) and plan to buy a bottle. They also do a great brand of kombucha in the bar. We were super lucky with the weather, warm enough that we could eat/drink by the beck and watch the birds! Staff are all incredibly friendly & helpful. Overall, I had such a peaceful time at Beck Hall and definitely plan to return to try more of the menu!

Absolutely beautiful hotel in Malham. All the food from breakfast to tea are 100% vegan. Even the little truffles in the bedroom. Dogs can go anywhere in the hotel. The staff are beyond amazing. The menu was very varied and everything was delicious.

We're delighted to have experienced this unique all vegan hotel in England. The food was lovely, staff were friendly, location perfect! Catered excellently for gluten free too. We'll never forget the banana blossom 'fish' and chips and drinking wine by the stream. Loved it!

We had a four night stay at Beck Hall with dinner each night. Beautiful location lovely hotel and super friendly hotel staff. Food was amazing. Really relaxing environment. Just what we needed.
Read moreOnly minor disappointments,
We had breakfast at 9am on two of the mornings and they had run out of Chia Puddings and pastries.
My partner had lemon chia cheesecake for desssrt and was raving about it and said the star was the candied lemon slice. I ordered it the following evening and mine was served with just a normal lemon slice.

Incredible food in the most stunning location! - Edit
We visited Beck Hall for a short staycation earlier this week (April '24) and oh my GOSH it was amazing! I hadn't looked too much at the menu because I didn't want to spoil the surprise but everything we ate during our stay was phenomenal. The staff were lovely and so helpful and friendly, and the whole atmosphere was serene and just a wonderful place to be.
Read moreIt wasn't quite warm enough to sit outside yet, but the floor-to-ceiling windows (bi-folds which I would imagine they'll open as the weather improves) gave way to beautiful views of the passing stream and local wildlife.
Even if you're not able to stay overnight in the hotel, it's so worth a day trip for the beautiful scenery surrounding, including the iconic "Malham Classic" walk, taking you to the stunning Malham Cove, Gordale Scar and the magical Janet's Foss. Follow this with a meal at Beck Hall and I honestly would describe it as the perfect day!
We will definitely be back and are already looking to book again in June!
Pros: Incredible food, Lovely staff, Stunning location

If you do not stay at the hotel at least book in for food, the breakfast is amazing, solid options for savoury and sweet tooth’s. The pastries were the best pastries we have had, so fresh and just gorgeous.
We stayed 2 nights so had breakfast and tea there twice, all the food was amazing not a bad word to say about any of what we had and the staff were really friendly and welcoming.
Cons: Difficult to get hold of by phone.

A lovely vegan experience - Edit
Our stay at Beck Hall did not disappoint. The food was excellent and the staff were all very friendly. They understood the menu and gave great recommendations. The menu is perfectly balanced between hippy food and junk food (all refined and presented beautifully) which means that there's something for everyone. The hotel stay itself was pleasant but the highlight is definitely the food. The hotel is also very dog friendly- hopefully we in the vegan community will unite and crowd out the dog lot before long 😈 Was everything on the menu and experience 1000% perfect? Probably not, but overall a great experience, and I hope the owners are rewarded for their bravery in going fully vegan

Beck Hall - Edit
I was lucky enough to get a last minute booking for a room at Beck Hall for Easter weekend, unusual as it’s often fully booked. I arrived to a beautiful location on a gorgeous sunny spring day, the setting really is something special. It was busy with people sitting outside by the stream enjoying food, drink and chill time.
Read moreI’d booked in for Sunday roast at lunchtime, I opted for the chick’n seitan. Wait wasn’t too long despite how busy they were. Great to see a Yorkshire pudding on the plate, which is often left off for vegans, and a pot of delicious cauli cheese too. The sticky toffee pudding for dessert was light, moist and with a tasty syrup.
Check in for the room was 4pm. The lovely Linda was welcoming, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I was so impressed with my room, a superior, which had a large comfy bed, sofa and well appointed en-suite with roll top bath. The double doors overlooked the grounds and stream and I really could have stayed a week!
For dinner I had the tamarind ‘ribs’ and banana blossom fysh. And the next day for breakfast the cooked option but there were plenty of options available on the menu, as well as cereals, fruit, yogurts, pastries and juices to help yourself to.
For me the staff, room, hotel and location were a 5/5 ⭐️ The food was a little hit and miss though - hard veggies, overcooked chips, burnt salt and pepper topping, sausages on brekkie were very tough and clearly had been sitting a long while. But other elements were delicious. Just lost a star for me there as these issues really should’ve been picked up on by the kitchen staff and not sent out. I did note some other diners sent dishes back, maybe a drop in quality due to a busy period. That said I would absolutely return and really enjoyed my stay at Beck Hall.

disappointed - Edit
stayed here for one night and ate breakfast lunch and dinner here. lunch tasted great. we ordered a chicken pesto and sundried tomato sandwich and fries. however, it wasn’t chicken pesto and sundried tomato at all.. there was no tomatoes, and it was in a garlic/aioli sauce rather than pesto? it tasted nice but wasn’t what we ordered. the room was okay, nothing special, small and didn’t look like the pictures, lots of scratches on the walls and chipped paint but generally it was fine and clean. then we went for dinner later on. i ordered a sage and thyme seitan ballotine, with buttered greens and crispy polenta and a red pepper purée. it came with a rich gravy on it also, which was very nice, just not listed on the menu. the ‘greens’ weren’t buttered at all, it
Read morewas cold, watery broccoli, cauliflower and mange tout. the red pepper purée was cold (i think it was meant to be) but that didn’t match well with the rest of the dish. the seitan had a horrible texture, but perhaps this was just a preference on my part. generally i was really let down by the dish. my girlfriend ordered the pesto parpadelle with crispy tofu, it was so bland and unseasoned that she could barely manage it and was not worth the £16. Also, the waiting staff in general felt pretty cold towards us, and i witnessed one of them making eye contact with another to signal that it was just us left to order/finish food before they could shut the kitchen, and the whole thing felt very rushed. We went to breakfast in the morning, and had expected a spread of pastries, toast, fruit etc as described on the website. unfortunately when we got there at 9 (mid way through breakfast serving time) there was one pain au chocolat left and 3 grapes… which was so dissapointing, these were not replaced. we ordered breakfast, i had the avocado and carrot on sourdough and my girlfriend had the pancakes. i am not fussy and would usually eat my food if i didn’t really like it (i ate my dinner despite not liking it) but i couldn’t eat my breakfast at all. it was covered in some form of cream sauce (again not mentioned on the menu) and it had such an overwhelming taste/smell that i felt sick. my girlfriend wasn’t impressed with her pancakes, they were cold, crispy and drowned in berry compote and a sour tasting yoghurt. To be fair to beck hall, us disliking our breakfast could be down to preference rather than the food being ‘bad’ but the lack of the breakfast ‘buffet’ options was extremely disappointing.
Pros: outside would be nice in the summer , nice walks nearby , lunch food was nice
Cons: menu description didn’t equal what was served , food very sub-par, staff were cold

We always stop by when we're in the area, so great to be able to order anything off the menu! The village is beautiful itself so definitely worth the diversion.
Read moreLost one star because the roast dinner wasn't quite the traditional lunch we were after, it had a very rich sauce type gravy and the vegetables were so al dente they were almost raw. Also topped with a grassy garnish!? Not sure if it was a play on vegans just eating grass!

Absolutely fantastic service, food and atmosphere. Have been wanting to go here for a while now and the wait was absolutely worth it. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is absolutely amazing. Don't be put off by the negative reviews about the car park. Yes it may only be for the hotel guests but the short walk from the village car park really isn't an issue. Again, absolutely stunning. Will definitely be back very soon! You should book! - Edit
Idyllic streamside vegan paradise. This hotel / restaurant offers vegans & dog lovers the most delicious menu options. From breakfast, afternoon /"cream tea" Irish coffees, sunday lunch, gorgeous dinner options - we had asian style banana blossom & chips, silence inducing desserts we had pomegranate & rose mess one night & lemon chia cheesecake the next during our 2 nights dinner bed & breakfast stay. Great wine list & delicious local ale. The only problem was, we couldn t stay for longer. The staff are so warm, service is perfect, great value for money. Highly recommended beautiful place

Nowhere to park - Edit
We booked a table but there was nowhere to park, other than their hotel car park that has a barrier. We rang and informed them that we had driven 1.5hrs to get there & then spent over a hour trying to find a place to park. They wouldn’t let us park on their car park, even though it had lots of free spaces, as we were not staying overnight. They offered no alternative to us, so we had to cancel. Given the location (out in the sticks, only accessible by car) they need to ensure there is enough parking for restaurant users. We go out of our way to support vegan businesses, they need to support their customers too. Very disappointing.

Yes its in a beautiful location. The nearest train station is 7 miles away so difficult to travel to on public transport, especially for people with disabilities. If there is limited or no parking what is your suggestion for access?

There is a car park near the national park gift shop a few mins down the road and a lot of people parked on the side of the road near it when that was full. If you are going for food in the evening, the car park should be relatively empty as a lot of the day walkers are gone by then. Hope that helps!

Thanks, when we arrived all of the neighbouring car parks were full and no space to park on the side of the road. The only car park with spaces was Beck Hall and they refused to let us park there even though we had a booking.

Vegan haven in glorious surroundings - Edit
We are nearing the end of our 3 day stay and we've had a fabulous time. The hotel is lovely with comfortable rooms and the modern dining room with access to the patio next to the beck is wonderful. The location couldn't be much better with beautiful countryside on the doorstep. Such friendly staff, I didn't get all their names but Davide and Martin were super helpful and Linda's card trick was a revelation! The food is imaginative and well-presented and the portions very generous, you won't go hungry even if you're normally a meat eater. Looking forward to a return visit later in the year.

Plant-Powered Haven: Beck Hall's Culinary Revolution in the Dales - Edit
In the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, amidst a landscape sadly marked by animal exploitation, Beck Hall emerges as a beacon of plant-based innovation and ethical dining. This unique hotel and restaurant offers a refreshing contrast to its surroundings.
Read moreStaying at Beck Hall for three nights, the team’s friendliness and eagerness to accommodate stand out, making every moment of the stay pleasant and memorable. We stayed in a comfortable room but with a touch too much wool and leather for it to be considered fully vegan.
The culinary journey at Beck Hall was refreshing and interesting. The vegan afternoon tea is a highlight, featuring monster scones that defy the stereotype of vegan limitations. The Sunday roast, Sea Cocktail, and mushroom steamed pudding further showcase the chef's ability to transform classic British fare into delightful vegan versions without compromising on taste or quality. It's a testament to the creativity and dedication of the kitchen team, who have embraced the fully plant-based menu with exceptional skill.
Beck Hall's recent transition to a fully plant-based menu is a bold move that sets it apart in the Yorkshire Dales, a region not traditionally known for such culinary adventures. Yet, the quality of the food speaks volumes, offering a gastronomic experience that would impress even the most skeptical of carnist diners.
In conclusion, Beck Hall is not just a hotel and restaurant; it's a pioneering force for plant-based dining in an area steeped in animal farming practices. It offers a haven for those seeking to enjoy the Yorkshire Dales without compromising their ethical standards. With its comfortable accommodations, exceptional service, and outstanding food, Beck Hall is a must-visit for anyone looking to indulge in the best of British cuisine, reimagined for a more ethical and sustainable future.
Pros: Exceptional Plant-Based Cuisine, Friendly and Accommodating Staff, Unique Ethical Dining Experience
Cons: Use of wool and leather in hotel rooms/spaces
