Great find in Point Cook

Coffee from the Bean Smuggler was really good. The line out the front was a promising indication that they have coffee worth queuing for, and clearly a local gem. They have a choice of milks (using the Alternative Milk Company and others.

We sat outside (as we had a dog with us) although it was cold and raining. Staff were super friendly and even turned on, and relocated the standing heaters so we would feel warmer and a more comfortable. Everyone who served us seemed genuinely happy to be working there.

The menu indicates clearly which items are, or can be, made vegan (and gluten free). They had a pumpkin porridge which sounded so interesting, I almost forgot I don't really like pumpkin! Instead I ordered the magic mushrooms and we also ordered the mushroom and avocado ciabatta, which seriously undersold itself on the menu. The ciabatta was filled with not only avo and mushroom, but a tasty vegan slaw. It was tasty and big. The Magic Mushrooms were beautifully slow cooked with herbs, served with dukha and heirloom carrots. You could really taste the difference.

Overall a great experience, interesting choices, great coffee and service.
