Tasty, but you must clarify vegan - Edit
Busy, popular place with a few can-be-made-vegan dishes. My server was attentive and confirmed “no egg, no fish sauce, no dairy”; they also checked which banchan dishes were vegan. The food was served piping hot and was very tasty. Nice flavors and textures. The restaurant serves organic tofu by default!

I can’t trust the staff - Edit
I don’t feel they either truly understand about there vegan food actually being vegan they seemed as if they didnt understand my questions about the side dishes they gave me one of which was a whole fish. But the food I felt was safe was very good. Ps. Yes I did request without the sides and no egg. Both I still received

Delicious soup but… - Edit
We went at peak dinner time and it was a mob scene. It was a challenge figuring out what starters were vegan that were served to us automatically as part of the traditional cuisine. I was there with some omnivore friends, and they slapped down whole fried fish for all of us as part of the starters. Our server didn’t speak much English, so that might’ve been just our bad luck or a feature of the place. it’s also quite loud in there, which doesn’t help with communication. The place is absolutely massive, about as long as a football field, and it’s kind of fever dream of a zillion people running around with carts and serving and eating.
Read moreThat said the vegetarian stew was really yummy and very filling, and the various Korean condiments that were clearly vegan were delicious as well.
If I were in town longer I would definitely try it again at off-peak time and hopefully have better luck with the communication.

Tofu soup is incredible - Edit
Not too many vegan options, but the veggie tofu soup was incredible. Make sure to specify the veggie broth and no egg, and ask for no banchan with seafood.

Not very vegan friendly - Edit
The fried tofu dish I ordered came with a sauce with fish sauce in it. For the veggie tofu soup you need to specify you want water base otherwise they’ll use a meat broth. Most of the side dishes are not vegan (only their cucumbers).

Put a "free" fish in our vegan takeout order - tofu was boring - Edit
GROSS. We only ordered two items, both of which are clearly labeled on the menu as "vegetarian." Based on other reviews on this site, we specified clearly in the directions of both items that we wanted the dishes vegan. Despite this, there was a disgusting WHOLE FISH in our takeout bag (deep fried, wrapped in wax paper, as if it's something they throw in every takeout bag). No thank you. Not veg friendly at all.
Read moreWe got the tofu with glass noodles and tofu bibimbap. Both were extremely boring, especially considering the place has "tofu" in its name. Pretty flavorless. I'm a little baffled at the other good reviews this place got. We didn't finish either dish and we usually clean our plates.
LA has so many better vegan places than this. Please go there instead.
Pros: Fast takeout
Cons: Put fish in our takeout order, Tofu dishes boring

Amazing vegan Korean options!! - Edit
I LOVE the food at BCD tofu house, and now they clearly label menu items as vegetarian, which is a huge plus! If you're vegan, just make sure you specify you want the items WITHOUT EGG - the tofu bibimbap, veggie soondubu tofu soup, and japchae can all be made vegan! And they're delicious!!
Read moreA couple things to note: (1) if you're sensitive to the smell of meat, this place is probably not for you. It's a huge space, but the smell of meat definitely carries. (2) a lot of the banchan dishes (the small appetizers they give you at the start for free) aren't vegan/vegetarian, so I would avoid eating them (or you can just tell them you don't want them).
Pros: excellent, delicious food, good portion size
Cons: busy, there can be a line on busy days, smell of meat carries
