Great food, people and cause - Edit
Amazing experience - casual setting, Sara introduces herself and explains the menu/options to you in great detail. Food was UNREAL, took my mum who isn’t vegan and she couldn’t believe it. Portions are enough for 2 people so great value for money. Sara also helped us a lot with the rest of our Jordan itinerary

Excellent Food & Excellent Cause - Edit
From the first bite, i fell in love with the food and the owner is passionate about animal rights and veganism. The restaurant is cozy with a hip vibe. It's a bit out of the way, but it's worth every step to get there. The portions were large and i had to take half with me for lunch tomorrow.

So tasty - Edit
This restaurant was so delicious. The owner is a delight and has so many passionate causes that she funds, especially helping the stray cats of Amman and the animals of Petra. The food menu offered a variety of cuisines and everything we had was amazing. Was a wonderful gem.

A vegan heaven in Amman - Edit
When we took our lunch seats at Bayt Sara, Sara began to address us for over 20 minuits or so with all the causes she was involved in, from stray cats to all other animal issues, organizing annual Vegan festival, helping needy women and refugees, dream of opening a shelter for animals in Petra to doing a Cooking show for a LA TV channel. Then, she ran down the day's menu - phew ! It was in fact pretty hard to comprehend all that was said because of lengthy and detailed account - truly one-of-a-kind and a lone warrior !
Read moreMy pick was a delicious Hungarian specialty with home-baked bread. When we ordered Chocolate cake for dessert, the portion was so huge we had hard time finishing it.
It was probably the longest time I ever spent at a restaurant, well it looked more like a home/museum with lots on display, as Sara shared lots of her life stories. In fact, she wants someone to listen to it and get it published as a book, more as an inspiration to others.

Amazing place - Edit
Sara, the owner is a vegan activist and an overall helpful and really attentive person. She was just starting to eat when we arrived but focused fully on us when we arrived. We ordered 2 sandwiches which tasted amazing and were large portions we could not finish. Sara provided lots of extra great info as well, she explained where everything is from money exchange to which fee free ATM to use, she also has great contacts in Wadi Rum and so on… lots of useful info.
Read moreLast but not least, she runs a cats sanctuary and if I remember correctly a large portion of the money you spend there go straight to helping cats and other animals. There a few cats in the shop as well, we fell in love with one and we wish we could have adopted her. 😊

The vegan shawarma was incredible (the homemade mayo is so good!), and proprietor and head chef Sara provides excellent hospitality. Just be warned: when she tells you the portion sizes are large, she is not exaggerating!

I shared the shawarma and chocolate cake (with ice cream) with a friend and we were both full. Filling portions at a good price and all handmade ( sustainable).

It was nice to hear about the good causes they support and refused to accept personal tips (instead donating it to feed the cats).

My favorite part of Amman - Edit
My friend and I were visiting Amman from Los Angeles when we stumbled across a sign on a lamp post advertising a vegan restaurant. As we strolled down the street towards the restaurant, I stopped to feed a stray cat. A few feet away I hear a woman say, “I feed these cats every day!” That was my first interaction with Sara, the owner of Bayt Sara.
Read moreI can’t describe how profound my experience was at her restaurant. Bayt Sara is so much more than a simple dining spot- it is a mission, an educational resource, a community. Of course the food is absolutely incredible and the countless five star reviews confirm that, but getting to know Sara and the brilliant work she does is the Amman experience I’ll never forget.
I recommend everyone come to Bayt Sara, vegan or not. There is a neighboring vegetarian restaurant so make sure you enter the correct restaurant because at Bayt Sara, half of all profits go toward animal rescue and care! When I first stopped by Bayt Sara, there was a very small kitten outside her restaurant. Sara told me his name was Lucky because he was hit by a car two days ago. She took him to the vet and miraculously he was unharmed. Sara told me she has helped countless cats and dogs like Lucky.
When you walk into the restaurant, Sara will tell you a little about herself and then walk you through her daily menu of the day. All her ingredients are fresh and unprocessed and made from scratch. The quality is unmatched. Her products are sugar free too, which is amazing because the natural flavors of her dishes truly pop. The best chocolate cake I’ve ever had in my life was at this restaurant!
If I ever end up in Amman again, Bayt Sara will be my first stop😄

Truly wonderful - Edit
Bayt jameela is such a lovely place with a unique vibe and amazing (really amazing) fresh and tasty food. Sara is a wonderful person, sharing a large part of her income to refugees and saving cats. A MUST visit! Make sure to check carefully if you’re entering the right place as it’s a bit hard to find. Spending your money there is more than worth it. Amazing food while supporting good cause. Really loved the shawarma and Romanian crepes. Portions are big, so what’s not to love!

Great place - Edit
We went there and shared the burger, the shawarma and the crêpes since we were kind of sick of Arabic food. All were delicious, everyone liked everything a lot😉I went there before my flight again to not starve on my 16-hour journey and took the cauliflower salad, which was also really delicious! Sara also gave me homemade bread (it tasted exactly like German bread, which I really liked, since bread abroad never tastes German, even if Germans prepare it :D), chocolate cake, a bar of chocolate and ice cream on the house, which was very sweet and much appreciated. All food was good and the café is frequented by cute stray cats. Sara is super friendly and does a lot of activism in Jordan. Be ready to eat like you're sitting in someone's living room, Sara and her husband create an amazing vibe with the guests

Amazing vegan restaurant in Amman - Edit
Bayt Sara is a true hidden gem in Amman. Easy accesible vía taxi, Uber, or I walked from downtown Amman. Sara was warm and welcoming, she gave me all of the delicious options to eat which included entrees, desserts, sides, and drinks. She explained all of the rescue efforts her and her family are doing in Amman and nearby places such as Petra. She is a true activist and a great chef. I chose the Goulash soup which was absolutely delicious and very filling, I had to take some to go. Her homemade bread was light and very flavorful, a great accompaniment. She gave me some fresh iced tea on the house which was very kind. One of her rescue cats who is pregnant joined me after my meal for some pets. There are wonderful shops nearby also. Sara is doing groundbreaking work with animal activism and veganism in the Middle East. Please support her, I highly recommend!

A definite must-visit in central Amman - Edit
Bayt Sara is located in a very cute and quiet street just a few minutes walk from the tourist centre of Amman. Lots of adorable and friendly street cats will let you know that you're getting close.
Read moreInside, the restaurant is relaxed, cosy and welcoming. Sara is an absolute delight and took plenty of time not only to introduce us to her restaurant and menu, but also to her mission and the great work that her restaurant enables.
The food was delicious. We had the burger, which was huge and covered in some incredibly tasty sauce. We also had the broccoli cream salad with homemade sourdough bread, which was delightfully fresh and flavourful.
It's a very welcome change from the endless falafel, humous, babaganoush and white bread treadmill that veggies and vegans end up on in Jordan. It's also nice to visit a place that doesn't use any single-use plastics.
Sara does amazing work to help improve the lives of not only the local cats but also dogs, donkeys and other animals throughout Jordan. The world needs more people like Sara and more restaurants like Bayt Sara!
Pros: Ethical , Delicious vegan menu, No plastics

Delightful - Edit
One of the few vegan places in Jordan, and it didn't disappoint. The food was delightful, Sara and her brother were the loveliest people. Sara is such a passionate vegan which is great to see to help inspire people to go vegan in meat heavy country like Jordan.
Read moreThe tofu zinger wrap was unreal. Really enjoyed the vegan goulash too and the vegan shwarma. We also had a huge slice of vegan, sugar free chocolate cake!
The vibe of the place is really cool too, and they also try to make sure leftover food is fed to the many stray cats nearby.
Cannot recommend this place more for vegans (and non vegans) visiting Amman!

Amazing place and owners - Edit
The food is divine, my friend and I spent 3 days in Amman so we had time to try every dish on the menu and they are all soooo good. Sara and her brother Sam prepare everything homemade, their tofu is incredible, same for their bread, same for their mayonnaise, same for everything to be honest. Portions are not expensive and big so you can even get a doggy (catty) bad for your lunch during a tour the next day, which was really helpful for us vegans. Eating there will also help the stray and abused animals, they daily take care of 150 cats, feeding time with their parents is quite a thing to see. A few cats live there so you can also get cuddles if they want to. And cherry on top you can buy some chocolate and goodies to help them even more. Definitely a place to visit, with a great energy, and amazing stories from Sara to hear from. We will go back at the end of the week for our last day in Jordan to get our favorites which are the amazing crispy tofu sandwich and the shawarma sandwich, or maybe the burger because of the amazing patty and cocktail sauce ! Too hard to decide😉Thank you for your delicious food and huge work for the animals.

Lovely and Delicious - Edit
What a fabulous small restaurant! Huge portions and delicious all vegan food. We had the sawarma, goulash, and broccoli spread and it was all fantastic. The chocolate cake looked great as well, but there was no way to fit it all in! Sara has endless energy and is especially enthusiastic about improving the situation for animals here and in Petra. She’s also committed to the environment and uses no plastic, right down to the glass straws for drinks. It’s really more like eating at a friends home than a restaurant, and thus aptly named.
Pros: Delish, So much food!, Incredibly energetic and committed owner
Cons: Small, use what’s app to call ahead
