New vegan additions to the menu - Edit
Apparently they made some additions to what they offer as vegan dishes. We had the Kimchi Marinated Tofu Bowl, Falafel Salad Bowl and Fries. They were all pretty good. The amount of fries was a joke though.

A Grateful Pit Stop in Yosemite: Base Camp Eatery - Edit
I’m grateful that there’s even an option in the heart of Yosemite, so for that reason alone, I’d give Base Camp Eatery 3 stars. However, the one option they had was simply inedible. The burger fell apart and lacked flavor. Only the fries were delicious. If I were to stay in Yosemite for a week, I’d have a problem and survive solely on fries. There weren’t any nutritious options to fuel a day of hiking. Fortunately, in Oakhurst, there were some other dining choices.

Limited options - Edit
My fries had cheese on them, so be aware of asking for vegan fries (if this is even possible). Burger was OK, nothing too special.

Algumas opções vegan em Yosemite! - Edit
Fomos almoçar ( boa parte do parque estava fechado devido à neve). No menú afixado no vidro havia pelo menos 3 boas opções vegan. Quando fomos fazer o nosso pedido haviam apenas: sopa, hambúrguer vegan e wrap vegan. A sopa estava óptima. O hamburger e o wrap estavam bons!

Vegan options in the national park - Edit
It's pretty amazing there are vegan options in Yosemite National Park, so that convenience alone is worth 5 stars. Just about every eatery in the valley has something vegan. At Base Camp for lunch there was a falafel salad bowl, a beyond burger, and I had the thai-inspired tofu bowl. Not much flavor, but like I said, I appreciated having any options at all!

Manage your expectations - Edit
I came up here with minimal expectations - good execution on the Chili. Good deal for $6 - you can get it with a salad and be just fine. You didn’t come here for the food - go out and hike!

Three good vegan options - Edit
It seems the menu here changes now and then. On our visit (March 2022) the vegan options were a falafel bowl, a bean burger, and chile. We had the falafel and bean burger, and both were surprisingly tasty and fresh, better than we would’ve expected from a tourist-oriented cafeteria restaurant.
Read moreNote that, according to our server, the menu board mislabels the vegan options, so be sure to ask the staff which options are currently vegan.
During our visit, the food was served quickly but the lone cashier was taking forever so our food was half cold by the time we were able to pay.
In addition to the indoor dining room, there are several outdoor tables that make a great place to eat when the weather is good.

Nice vegan options - Edit
For a canteen the food is pretty nice. The Vegan Chili is only like 6$. There‘s also a burger combo with Black Bean or Beyond Meat for like 14 and 16$ which is also nice. They told me that they make the patties separately from the dead animal patty but they do come in contact. Didn‘t know what that exactly means. The fries were not good yesterday night but today at noon they are still fresh and tasty. Also the „meat“ Burgers are cheaper than the vegan Burgers which is always a pity to see. Like, how can beans be more expensive than an animal life. 🥲 And I‘m saying that because apparently the boss here is vegan himself...

A few more options than expected! - Edit
There is apparently a new operations manager person that is Vegan, (as of this writing) so there have been an increasing amount of options for us.
Read moreChili, Black bean burger (which was yummy!), local veggies side, they even have Beyond burgers now.
In the gift shop next door there is also vegan tofurky products! (microwave is in the gift shop.
Pros: Increasing number of options.
Cons: One of the staff was unpleasant and made fun of me, for not eating meat, saying to my dad, what did.., do wrong, and then laughed. So.. beware that crap.

Your base camp to hike Yosemite Falls - Edit
Was in Yosemite to see the firefall which only occurs in mid to late February. Stopped by to fuel up before heading to the El Capitan Picnic Area to wait for the light to hit Horsetail Fall just right.
Read moreOnline menu identified vegan chili as the only option so I was surprised that they had a rotating menu of daily specials made with local, seasonal ingredients. That night, they had mushroom ragout with three side options: mashed potatoes, quinoa, and veggies.
After a full day of hiking, we got both chilli and ragout. Good, comfort food for a winter evening in a beautiful setting. If you’re in Yosemite during the limited winter season, Base Camp Eatery is probably your best bet for casual dining in the entire Yosemite Valley.

Pros: Rotating menu with local, seasonal ingredient, Near Yosemite Falls Trailhead
Cons: Daily specials not posted online
