I'm a pizza snob but even if I was not I don't think I would like this place. My pizza was burned and the flavor of the sauce was bland. My boyfriend got a different pizza and while he liked it, I found it salty.

Vegan for 30 Years Declares This The Best Vegan Pizza She's Ever Had! - Edit
We only went here because they said they offered vegan pizza, which can be hard to find back home, but in this area it seems to be we have a wide variety of vegan restaurant options, so we thought we'd see how Oakland does vegan pizza. IT'S THE BEST EVER ANYWHERE! I've had vegan pizza in Rome, Greece, Paris, and lots of places across the United States. None of them did it like this. The crust was perfect, and I prefer a thick crust, which this was not! But it was crispy and tasty, not doughy, moist, undercooked, or overcooked, burnt, and hard as a rock. The sauce was not sweet (I hate a sweet sauce on a pizza) and salted just the right amount. The toppings were perfection. I swear to all the gods out there, you'd never know this was a vegan pizza - the cheese was like real mozzarella, creamy, not soy-flavored at all. The "meat" was super delicious, again, you would not know it wasn't real sausage. And then the red onions were sliced thinly, so you don't get these big, honkin' slivers that you have to plow through. They were delicate and added just the right amount of zing. The mushrooms were to die for. Whoever invented this pizza deserves a Nobel Prize, an Academy Award, and the Good Housekeeping Seal Of Approval. Now, this is an expensive pizza for the size you get. We thought one pizza would feed two people when we saw the size of the box it comes in, but we were wrong. The pizza fits in the box with lots of room to spare. One pizza is for one person. We almost went back for a second pizza because we were still hungry after sharing one, and it was really, really, really, really good, but I'm cheap and I just couldn't stand the idea of paying so much for a second pizza. I'll bet, though, had I known how good it was going in, I would have ordered two pizzas in the first place. So, now you know! ORDER ONE PIZZA PER PERSON! I'm sad I have to go back home and never have this pizza again. Do they deliver across the country? Hmmm.....

The pizza here is phenomenal!! So flavorful, it has really scratched my pizza itch since becoming vegan. The TKO with mushrooms, mozzarella, truffle oil, and parm is out of this world. I also recommend the cherry pie, the Roman, the peach or pear pie, and the margarita. The mozzarella is cashew based, from The Butchers Son. The owner layers the flavors together do that it dances in your mouth. This isn’t just pizza where they sub out cow cheese for vegan and then it tastes like crap. They keep all vegan tools separate to avoid contamination. Also, this is a true small business. The owner is in there every night, throwing dough and building up the fire.

Amazing Vegan Pizza in an underwhelming atmosphere - Edit
Recently went to Bare Knuckle Pizza for dinner. Started w/ an arugula salad. I am a big fan of arugula. The salad was all arugula w/ a nice dressing & vegan parmesan cheese. Would have been nice to have some tomato or other salad greens or veggies to give it a bit more variety.

Went w/ the vegan margarita pizza. It was solid. Before I went vegan went to Naples, Italy so have experienced a margarita pizza there. The margarita pizza here is authentic.
Love the simplicity of this pizza. Fresh vegan mozzarella cheese from nearby Vegan Butcher's Son in Berkeley really made this pizza great.

Loud over stimulating music near the few seats by the bar. Opted to sit upstairs. It was really loud up there too.
No doubt it was crowded & super busy w/ a family w/ a few children. when I went here. The acoustics of the restaurant aren't the best.
Having said that come here for the amazing vegan pizza. For a quiet candlelight romantic dinner look elsewhere!

Excellent vegan pizzas! - Edit
Bare Knuckle has several, clearly marked vegan pizzas but can also make most of their pizzas vegan with modifications. Their vegan ingredients are high-quality, including using cheeses from local delicatessen Butcher’s Son. Their vegan pizza options rival (if not beat) some exclusively vegan places.

Viet makes one the better pizzas around town . His vegan Margherita pie is my go to. Super friendly service . The joint is really cool inside . Simple . I enjoy tbt outside seating . Just go there and enjoy really good pizza .

Seriously! If you like pizza in the traditional style, you must visit Viet and his wood-fired oven. Bare Knuckle has a vegan option for every pizza on their menu, and they use vegan cheeses and meats from the inimitable Butcher's Son. And the crust! It's truly amazing!! This is where I say - Trust me, I'm Italian!

Delicious wood fire crust with so many options for toppings. I had mushrooms with truffle oil and it was fresh and tasted so good. Cheese was from local restaurant Butchers Son and melted just perfect. Location is a bit small but order was quick and the staff were good at answering vegan questions.
