Casual eating - Edit
Ordered a burger each and loaded fries to share. The portion of fries was huge and we could barely finish it. I had chicken style burger and he had the beef style one, again they were big so a bit messy to eat - not first date food! Chicken burger was delicious. We were too full to try the desserts but they looked great. Also this restaurant is dog friendly - bring your doggo along and they will get their picture up on the wall! A nice touch. The fries were very salty but really that’s my only negative point (and I accept that they were salted chilli fries, just a bit too salty for my taste). I will definitely visit again. I like that it’s all vegan and therefore I don’t have to worry about contamination of my food.
Read moreUpdated - I’ve been back here a couple of times since my initial review and never beeb disappointed with the food. I am gutted they are closing, I hope it won’t be the end of Bare Bun and they will be back somewhere. I guarantee I’ll be visiting.

Absolutely Delicious Vegan Junk Food - Edit
So sad they're closing down. The food is unreal! I've had the cheeseburger dirty fries, bbq chick'n burger and salt & chilli dirty fries and all were just incredible. If you can get in before then end of the month, do it. You won't regret it.

Really tasty burgers and well seasoned chips, was so pleased to find this place, Northern Ireland has come a long way in a really short amount of time vegan-wise!

Top vegan burgers - Edit
I've tried this on a few occasions in the last few months and enjoyed it each time. The burgers are generous and very good, and the lattice fries are superb. The portions and extremely generous, but try to leave room for a brownie. It is dog friendly too, which is a nice touch.

Lovely addition to Belfast vegan scene - Edit
Although I didn’t order a burger, I did very much enjoy what I had, chicken wrap and garlic waffle fries. The garlic fries in particular were stunning. The place is decorated nicely and is bright and airy. Only criticisms would be that the portions are a bit too big (fries wise) and the skinny fries are not skinny, they’re chunky chips.

Best vegan scran in Belfast - Edit
Couldn’t believe coming back to Belfast to find a vegan burger place of this quality. Ever time I order it never disappoints, whether it’s range of options, portions or quality. Couldn’t recommend enough.

Super tasty food, great atmosphere. - Edit
I'm not a vegetarian but my girlfriend is, love eating in this place. Been there a bunch of times now. Love the hot dogs, love the corn dogs, love the spicy salted chips. I'm looking forward to trying some of the burgers too. They let you take your dog in too which is always appreciated. Great place, and really nice style as well.

Sour faced staff; salty food - Edit
Hot Chikn burger was nice, as were the goujons.
Read moreThe rest was awful though - far too salty, despite me asking for no extra salt to be added.
The young guy who took our order was fine but the owner was awfully snotty. They blocked me on Inst after I left them bad feedback. Lol.
Won't be back!

Great comfort food at a great price. - Edit
I've been there 3 times now and love the simplicity of the whole place. Nothing too crazy on the menu, just simple comfort foods. If you don't want the "burger" they can replace it with oyster mushrooms. I usually get the basic Bare Bun with fries and thats plenty for me. I would love to see it have an outside patio.

THIS IS NOT A BAD REVIEW - Edit
First off - if you're a new vegan / veggie, meat eater or flexitarian / pescatarian or anyone who remembers meat fondly or even still craves it, give this 5 stars. You will love it. You can stop reading and go try it! Bistro and fast food style.
Read moreTo reassure everyone this place is 100% vegan. There are zero worries there.
The 'meat' style is the main problem for me. It's just too close to real meat in terms of texture and taste for me to be able to enjoy it. I've been off it for 20 years and I now find it revolting. Yes I can force myself but that's not what I find enjoyable and it does hurt my stomach. My palette has changed too much that meat is now a weird proposition.
( Quorn is always a safe bet however, seitan if it's quite firm but the 'beyond' stuff tastes metallic and the jelly like texture is not appealing to me. )
So I'm saying at the outset to get it clear - this is a good eatery and the food was good, just wasn't for me. I'm confident anyone who goes will like it and if you're like me in your preferences you'll still enjoy the frankly delicious fries. Very well seasoned and tasty.
Speed of service was also quick and cost reasonable. Love karma branded soft drinks too. We got 2 spicy chick'n burgers and fries. We were warned by server that the idea of the place is to appeal to meat eaters as there aren't many vegans in NI - true and fair point. So that's most people and if the quality test for you is imitation then you're gonna love it. Chick'n burger was also generous in size.
Do note that they ran out of hotdogs prior to our arrival so menu may be hit by runs on items.
I wish these guys well and do hope you take your meat eater pals - they won't complain, will enjoy it and offers you an extra option.
Pros: Fast , Generous , Totally veg
Cons: Imitator meat (personal preference)

Hey! I am actually the owner and thanks so much for your comment.

But thank you so much for calling down and I appreciate the feedback :)

With the greatest of respect, you canny really criticise an entirely vegan joint for being too “meaty” when you still buy egg-based meat alternatives

Not sure what you're getting at here @JamieKerr. I said I don't like the taste/texture. I see you're new here. If , above, you're referring to quorn, some of it has egg in it - some, but it's mushroom and not egg based as you say. Has vegan range. If you're arguing that I'm wrong about my own taste then that's, eh, something. I was vegan 20 years ago when there was nothing to get anywhere for lunch - even Veg soup usually had chicken stock in it.
