This restaurant is absolutely NOT vegan. The menu consists of largely murdered animals and their tortured precursors' extracts, the most conspicuous of which being Deer Heart Soup. I told the Maître D' that I was leaving, because vegan and he pleaded with me to stay. "We have a vegan chef. We care about vegans here." So, I broke my cardinal rule of dining, which is to never patronize a non-vegan restaurant, as I am not a vegan for the taste or the self-satisfaction, but because I am actively engaged in my protest against animal abuse and boycott of non-vegan food establishments. I made an exception. The food was alright, the vegan appetizers were tasty and the main course passable, but the experience on a whole regrettable. It was a fine dining establishment which was comfortable, but the regret and sheer self-flagellation of having broken my own boycott just because they employed a vegan chef, persists. Adding insult afterwards, the host told me that "This is Russia, we can't be vegan here." I wasn't at all filled up from the meal, so I went directly to Hood Street Food and ate a 100% Vegan Shwarma wrap, and was given a free vegan cupcake to boot. So where was I? Not Russia? People and their bullshit reasons for not giving a [censored] about the lives and suffering of innocent animals has got to stop. Please recategorize this listing, and remove the automatic one star that was added to it. Should be "veg-options" served with a healthy dose of insult and regret.
