Fresh, flavorful, delicious! - Edit
Their vegan options are wonderful! All the desserts are vegan, many of the sides and several of the main dishes. The atmosphere is bright and welcoming!

Not a ton of vegan options, but a decent amount for entrees AND dessert, including a Tuesday and Wednesday special that are vegan optional. Vegan options are also labeled. The plaintain chips are also vegan optional, just ask for only the vegan sauce with it.

So I went with my son who is Omni and we both really liked our meals. The flavors blended effortlessly and there was not one thing I did not love.
Read moreStarting off- the server was great, happy, smiling, informative-a bad server can ruin the meal before it even starts so I was very happy with her
Drinks- I ordered the passionfruit juice and omg it was delicious…instantly felt like I was on a tropical island 🏝️…loved it
The meals- Just delicious…no complaints and we both agreed we would definitely come back. The wait time was 5-8 minutes at most.
The desserts- my son loved his, but unfortunately it was vegetarian so I couldn’t eat it. The vegan option was good, but I would have preferred the mango dessert.
The price- compared to the cost of everything right now, I didn’t think it was bad. The meal was worth it.
Parking- you are in Detroit so parking can be a nightmare but the restaurant had a vacant lot almost right behind it… so we parked for free, can’t beat that.
Would give 5 stars if I could and plan on returning!

Mboga is one of the best meals I've had in Detroit. I've had it several times, and I prefer the delicious spiced rice pilau over the coconut rice, which is more similar to just normal white rice.

My only criticism is the small number of vegan options. If there were a couple more vegan options I would eat there way more often so I could rotate dishes.
I've had the Intore and the Mboga, and those are the vegan main options with Mboga being my favorite. The side of fried plantains were delicious and had vegan sauces for dipping, and I've had good drinks including the hibiscus and African tea.

Although there are only two to four (depending the day of the week) vegan options plus dessert, the dishes were amazing. Highly recommend.

While there’s only three vegan dishes and one vegan dessert, the food is superb. It is both tasty and wholesome. Will definitely be returning to this restaurant. Would have given it 5 stars if permitted by Happy Cow, but can’t since not fully vegan.

Wow! Baobab Fare was fantastic. The atmosphere when walking into the restaurant was warm and friendly. I ordered the Africa tea and the Intore (eggplant stew) and both were beautifully spiced and flavorful. I will definitely be going back!

Delicious and filling - Edit
2-3 vegan items on the menu, depending on the day. Choose the eggplant or spinach, plus beans and rice. Very simple and flavorful. On certain days they also have an okra dish with a cornbread. Beautiful restaurant. Love the decor.
