Really Knowledgeable Owner - Edit
Staff was super helpful, and the owner was very hands on and assisted when I had questions front of house couldn't answer. Seitan sausage was really crispy.

Good food, glacial service - Edit
I visited Bang Bang Kitchen for the first time on a Wednesday afternoon at 4:10 (so, ten minutes after they opened). Our party of 3 was seated quickly, took maybe 10-15 minutes to decide what we wanted, placed our order, got our drinks within 10ish more minutes, and then... We waited. And waited. And waited. Our chips and guac took at least 30 minutes to come out and our actual food (two orders of the vegan mac for myself and my husband, the Chile relleno for our veggie friend) came out after about an hour and a half. The server told us at one point that our food was "on the wrong side of a huge takeout order." Uhhh, okay. So you took an order so big it prevented you from making absolutely anything other than chips and guac? I guess I could believe that if not for the fact that many other people were seated after us AND got their food before us. It was a struggle to get the waitstaff's attention for additional drinks and eventually for the check, even though there were several of them passing by our table regularly. The vegan mac was delicious and the drinks were good (and the guac was just OK, not worth $8), but the service was just so weird. I'll definitely be back since I live two blocks away and they're the closest place with a lot of vegan options that's open late, but I definitely wouldn't recommend going here if you're hoping to get in and out within an hour.

Vegan options - Edit
I ordered the potato hash and it was tasty. They have plenty of other vegan options to choose from. I would return.
Read moreUpdate June 3 2023 - I’ve finally returned here after not have visiting since before the pandemic. I ordered the Santa Fe Hash again, along with chips, salsa, guac, and biscuits (with vegan butter!) to share. They now have Just Egg so a lot of dishes that have real egg can be substituted. Everything was delicious. This is a solid vegan brunch spot.

Loved it - Edit
We came for brunch and tried the Vegan Mac & cheese and the Southwest sweet potato. They were both so good! I loved the red and green chili and fried onions on top of the sweet potato. The Mac & cheese had great texture and a bit of smokiness. Can’t wait to come back and try more of their menu.
Read moreEdit: Came back to try the vegan breakfast burrito and it was OK but very heavy on pinto beans (not my favorite bean) and light on soy chorizo. I discovered how much I love the green chili sauce though and will be back for it. 💚

Great vegan options - Edit
The space is cool, inviting. Monday has $6 margaritas. The vegan queso is delicious and on happy hour as well. Loved the burrito, has both the red and green sauce. Didn't love the vegan burger, but everything else has been really good. The tequila and mezcal selection is quite good.
Read morePros: Plenty of vegan options, good atmosphere.
Cons: Service was a bit slow last time we were there..., But really good the first two times.

Fantastic brunch spot! - Edit
Nice decor, great selection of tequilas and a delicious house bloody mary. The bartender even offered to make without the Worcestershire sauce because he knew I was vegan! Breakfast burrito w/house made vegan sauce and roasted Hatch chilis was superb.

Delicious vegan options, mac n cheeze on happy hour menu! - Edit
Delicious house-made vegan options! Our group had mac n cheeze and trio dip nachos for happy hour appetizers. The trio dip had a generous serving of chips with vegan nacho sauce, plus guac and salsa. The mac n cheeze was a generous portion, creamy with a kick. It was too spicy for our kids, but fine for adults. Next time one might ask for less spice, like the more mild vegan nacho sauce that our kids loved. The vegan pozole soup and jack fruit tacos were yummy. For enchiladas, we chose calabacitas (zucchini veggie) with red and green sauce. They also had a seasoned tofu option. One in our group who lived in NM before said the flavors were authentic. Might ask if they'd consider making sopapillas with agave instead of honey???

Great Vegan Options! - Edit
This New Mexican restaurant is owned by the same folks who own Bang Bang Cafe and Cafe Petirosso, and they have even more vegan options here (with more on the way. The ambiance is great, with cool lighting, a fire place, full bar.
Read moreThe vegan queso (part of the chip & dip trio) is so good, and the mac and cheese is perfection.
For spicier palates, try the pozole! Tacos are good and we heard they’ll be adding/swapping some menu items in the near future - always listening to the customer.
They also do a good job at marking gluten free, and servers know the menu well, so they can answer questions on other allergies.
Can accommodate large groups, but great for couples as well. Kid-friendly. Street parking, or park in the lot underneath the apartment building - some spots are for the shops.
Pros: Vegan mac and cheese!, Fun drinks, Great ambiance
