Good mofungo - Edit
They are able to make a fully vegan mofungo, which is great if you wanna try Puerto Rican food. I never had another mofungo so I can’t judge the ‘realness’ of it but I liked the vegan version. The staff knows how to accommodate vegans. The restaurant itself is ok, not very special and I had some friends who felt unwelcome as the staff is pretty direct (especially about the $20 minimum for ordering). Overall good if you want a vegan option, but not a place to relax at and have drinks afterwards.

No vegan entree - Edit
Bananas is a great place for drinks and fried plantains on the malecon. I wouldn't try to go there for a meal though as there isn't a veggie entree. Even beans and rice have meat.

Almost gave me mofongo with butter - Edit
They didn't know they even had any vegan options at the front. The waitress knew and told me about the vegetable Mofongo. She didn't realize butter wasn't vegan, and I had to ask specifically about butter for her to then add a note. Have to double check the dish doesn't have ingredients you're avoiding. All this considered, the Mofongo was tasty and service was quick.

Lacking vegan options - Edit
The restaurant just printed a new menu and unfortunately it didn’t have any vegetarian or vegan entrees. On past menus they had a vegetable mofongo, but it was removed which is a bummer. Our waitress was wonderful though and asked the kitchen if they’d make it for us, which they did. They also had good hot sauce made in house with mango.
Read moreThe only things on the menu that were vegan were two starters: hummus and veggies and tostones.
Likely wouldn’t return due to the limited options. Also- the beans are not vegetarian. Made with pork.

good veggie mofongo - Edit
Our server was very friendly. She acknowledged the limited vegan options but recommended the veggie mofongo. It was really good.

Limited options - Edit
While seating us , the greeter told us “Chef will not be accepting substitutions or changes to menu today.” The only visibly vegan option is the hummus plate, tostones (they do come with mayo in the side), and the Amarillos. We asked the waitress (who fortunately was vegetarian) what our options were for 3 vegans and she said they had a vegan burger patty, in addition to the above listed menu items. My son had the burger, which he said was yummy, but it was served with mayo. He scraped it off the best he could. The hummus was really tasty, good portion size for my 20 year old daughter . I got the tostones (pretty tasty) and dipped them in my daughters hummus since the dip was mayo. They’re clearly going for the typical mainland American tourists. My non vegan husband had their lobster mac and cheese and he said it was delicious. The waitress really did try to accommodate us but I don’t think the message translated to the kitchen. This is not a restaurant trying to appeal to vegans and the initial greeting made me feel unwelcome .

Decent vegetable red curry - Edit
It’s a shame the vegan items aren’t marked up on the menu, as they have quite a decent selection... ask your server; they are very knowledgeable. I had the the red curry, but with extra vegetables instead of the fish. It was great. Other options include vegan mofongo, tostones, hummus, pasta, amarillos, salad (I think they had a few more options, but I can’t remember). Gluten free is fully marked up on the menu. Happy hour is 11-12:30pm and 4:30-6pm - $4 for certain cocktails!

Mofungo and pasta - Edit
Waiter was nice and reported the vegetable fufungo and pasta could be made vegan. Very tasty and tostones of course. Hummus also very good. Unfortunately beans cooked with pork. Overall, pretty good but around 10-15 per plate. Portions of pasta were huge first night and less next 2x there but still respectable.
