Absolutely Delicious Food - Edit
The dishes in Banana Tree were delicious! Everything was fresh, a great sized portion and everything came out with a little vegan flag on.
Read moreThe staff were attentive to allergens which is good.
We ordered the: chick'n satay skewers (OMG), Pad Thai with vegan bites, vegan prawn crackers and vegan ramen.
The chick'n skewers were AMAZING! I wish we ordered more!
Pros: The food was delicious, Great sized portions, The Chick'n skewers and satay sauce 🤤
Cons: The prawn crackers were a bit stale, Staff weren't overly attentive, overall

They brought us chicken - Edit
Terrible experience that showed us that the restaurant serves “plant-based options” but does not care about vegan customers. We ordered vegan dishes, but they brought us the chicken satay skewers instead of the vegan satay skewers. With one bite, I noticed something was off with the texture and confirmed that they were indeed the vegan skewers, to which the server replied: no, it’s the chicken.
Read moreThen, with disgust, we proceeded to have to explain to staff and managers why that was unacceptable. Rather than simply apologising and taking responsibility for it, they kept finding excuses: “it’s the loud music, sometimes it’s hard to hear / the person who took your order is new”.
If a restaurant caters to a vegan crowd, they should be extra careful with the orders. And if an error like this ever occurs, they should take responsibility and implement safeguards. In the end, they took care of our bill, but honestly, we got no sense that they understood how grave it is to feed meat by mistake to someone who’s ethically oppose to it and hadn’t eaten animals in years.
Cons: Careless about vegan options

Very good restaurant - Edit
I have been to Banana tree a few times in different locations, I have to say they have extended their vegan offers and there is a lot to choose from.
Read moreOn this occasion I had the sweet and sour vegan pieces, which are quite similar to firm tofu in texture and they are really good.
I asked for the dish to be prepared without peppers (I can't digest them well) and they did, the waitress asked if it was an allergy in case she needed to check the sauce's ingredients.
I also had the aubergine half which is a lovely dish although this time it had less sauce than at other times, still very tasty though!.
My daughter had a Malaysian coconut curry which had veggies and a mix of puffed tofu and vegan pieces. The curry sauce is tasty and very mild, without much coconut flavour.
We didn't have any dessert because we planned to go elsewhere.
Pros: Lots of options , Tasty food

Avoid if you are vegetarian/vegan! - Edit
Took a couple of friends to Banana Tree Soho as I’ve had decent experiences there before. Ordered lots of food and cocktails, including a vegan pad thai. Half way through to my utter disgust, I chewed on a lump of chicken. I’m a vegetarian and haven’t eaten meat in 20 YEARS.
Read moreIn response to this, instead of any sort of understanding or compassion, I was told repeatedly by the manager “this is very unlikely- the tofu pad thai is made alongside the chicken one and then separated”. He then took my food in the kitchen to check (?) before coming back to confirm that it was in fact chicken.
I said that I didn’t care how it was prepared, ultimately it still had chicken in it- I was told “I’m just telling you that it’s unlikely to happen”. I’m not sure what the manager hoped to achieve by saying this over and over again.
I asked where food for people with allergies was prepared- he said “in a separate area”- somehow this could not be done for vegetarians/vegans.
He offered a free shot in compensation (as thought that might somehow help..?) and I asked him to remove the plate. He did not offer anything else so I left feeling hungry and intensely angry.
Thankfully he took off the meal from the bill. He said he did that so I didn’t “leave feeling frustrated”. As though he was doing me a favour!
I tried really hard not to show how upset and angry I was- not eating animals is a deeply personal, conscious decision for me. To add insult to injury, I felt like I was belittled throughout and treated with suspicion.
Emailed company about what had happened- no response whatsoever. Appalling.
Cons: Chicken in a vegan dish!, Appalling “customer service” from manager , No response to complaint

Lots of vegan options - Edit
Lots of vegan options, but food and service very poor. Never been rushed through a meal quite so fast! So many better Asian places to try in Soho, felt a little ill afterwards.

A Pan-Asian Feast - Edit
Firstly, super nice that this restaurant has late opening hours.
Read moreAfter working a long day, and finishing work late, I was wondering where I was going to be able to have a nice, enjoyable and satisfactory meal.
This place is open until 10’30/11pm, and even after midnight on Fridays & Saturdays.
Secondly, the menu offers quite a decent selection of vegan options, which confirms their statement of being “more than 40% plant-based”.
I took the “chili kaffir lime, cashew nuts and vegan bites” accompanied with “palm leaf sticky rice” (since no rice was included, so you need to add a side dish yourself).
The main dish was very nice, well seasoned, crunchy vegetables and quite a decent amount of “vegan bites”, but not spicy enough to my liking, so I asked for additional spicy sauce, so they came with the “sweet chili” and a homemade “chili paste”, which was exactly what I was looking to pair my dish with the right amount of spiciness.
The “palm leaf sticky rice” was super nice. Nicely steamed, sticky as it should be, and tasty.
Last but not least, the staff was very kind and helpful, and the restaurant was packed, that’s always a good sign!

Decent take out- not all vegan - Edit
The name on Deliveroo is deceiving- it is not Bananatree- Thai, Vietnamese “Vegan” they do have many vegan options but they also have several meat options so watch closely. We thought it was entirely vegan menu but it is not. We got sweet and sour vegan bites which were good, noodles, pad Thai with tofu, satay sticks, spring rolls, and some other add-on items. They were very fast through delivery and inexpensive.

Good place to eat with non-vegan friends. I had the vegan satay sticks to start, and the Pad Thai with vegan bites as the main. Tasty and filling, and the satay sauce was amazing.

Asian fusion - Edit
I went here with an omni friend one evening. Service was reasonably fast although not particularly friendly (not unfriendly, just neutral). Has a similar feel to Wagamama although you get separate tables. They have a decent range of options for vegans with a separate vegan menu. I went for the laksa and it was really tasty. The vegan desserts are very limited although I was too full to have one anyway!

Good but very small sizes - Edit
The place is OK, it has a bunch of asian plates, including some vegan one. I asked for a street style dough starter and chili, ginger and basil stir fry (as a main). The starter was ok, but the main's size was far smaller than of the other non/veg dishes. So yes, I left the place quite hungry...

Flavoursome Soho - Edit
Vegan options clearly labelled. Gorgeously spicy stir fry with tofu and veg and aromatic rice, salad and indo cracker. In the heart of Soho, the place was busy and very lively Friday night but service was fast. I enjoyed a Passion fruit mocktail with my meal which was also divine. Would definitely visit again
