Aug 24 update - new owners and it’s not great anymore - Edit
The previous owners knew what they were doing, but the current owners didn’t get the recipes to offer the same meals. Such a shame. In a town with no dedicated vegan joints it’s WAS great to see dedicated vegan menu items. RIP bamboo box, you were a gem.

RIP succulent vegan Chinese meals - Edit
Update Aug 2024: this place has changed management and its bad. We have been spying through the window to see if the original owners are back, but nope. Proceed with caution if you still want to eat here. New management cook the meals differently. I was concerned its was actually meat in our last order, food is bad.

Generous serving sizes, loads of options, plenty of vegan meat in each dish. Reasonably priced compared to other places.
Only bad thing is that they are randomly closed some days and I can't have kung pao chicken that day

Seems like this place focuses more on takeaway, the service wasn’t particularly attentive dining in. Our waiter was ok but the woman at the counter just seemed annoyed we were there 😂 maybe just a language barrier thing.
Read moreWe ordered asian greens in mushroom sauce and a malay “chicken” curry from the faux meat section. After eating a couple of pieces of the chicken we realised it seemed way too real and that it was actual meat. Obviously pretty upsetting when you’ve been vego for ten years. When we asked the aforementioned lady at the counter she told us no, it was faux meat. Then ten seconds later someone from the kitchen came out and told her they had messed up and it was actually chicken.
They replaced the dish with what we actually ordered but apart from that didn’t even acknowledge their massive f*ck up. We’re not the kind of people to cause a scene and abuse service workers, so we just ate and left. If we hadn’t pre-paid for the food we would’ve probably walked out after we found out we had just eaten chicken.
This is part of the risk of going to places that serve meat I guess. And when staff or owners aren’t vegans themselves they maybe don’t understand how bad it feels for us to be fed meat 🤢
Looking at all the other reviews it seems what happened to us was maybe a one-off, but that doesn’t make it any less bad. The curry was actually good when we eventually got it, but this website is about supporting places that are welcoming to vegos, and if serving meat to a vegan (and then doubling down on telling them it’s fake) doesn’t get you one star on happycow, I don’t know what should.
Looking at the other reviews it might be worth giving this place a try, Katoomba isn’t exactly swimming in vegan options. Also, if you have allergies I’d be hesitant, at least serving meat to a vegan doesn’t kill them, if they stuff up your allergen it could be much more serious.
Pros: Plenty of “vegan” options, Food was good… eventually

Not open on either a Thursday or Friday night at the end of June 2024. From what little I could see there were chairs and boxes attacked up inside. Disappointed as wanted do try after reading other reviews.

Best Vegan food in Katoomba! - Edit
This is a hidden gem! The food is delicious and by far the best tasting vegan food we had in the few days we stayed in Katoomba. The flavour! If we had stayed longer, we would have been back again to try more off the menu.

Incredible mock meat dishes! - Edit
This place is amazing! If I could give 5 stars I would. They have a huge selection of mock meat dishes, or veggie dishes if fake meat isn’t your thing. All look delicious. We came here once and were back again the next week because we couldn’t stop thinking about it! The staff are friendly, the service is fast, food is incredible.

The diversity in choice of dishes here for plant-based eaters is amazing. It was hard to choose at first! We had the Malay vegan chicken curry and Mongolian vegan chicken. Both come with rice, fantastic portion sizes! Staff are very accommodating, free BYO.

This place is awesome. We’ve always walked past it in favour of other restaurants in Katoomba and said we’ll go next time and I am kicking myself. It is the Chinese food I remember from forever ago. Portions are huge and delicious. Got extra to take back to Sydney for dinner. Free byo/corkage.

We got takeaway and had the vegan kung pao chicken, and vegan sweet & sour pork. Portions were generously huge and the flavours were just beautiful. We were lucky to have ours come out quick during lunch time before they were packed with customers for christmas eve. And having heard that they dont charge surcharge on public holidays and still stay open on Christmas eve and Chrsitmas Day it seems so rewarding. I would definitely come back again and try out their other vegan option dishes.

Tasty and lots of VEGAN OPTIONS - Edit
I came here with my husband who is also a Vegan to dine in and i was recommended to try the Vegan Fake meat dishes. The texture was excellant and flavourful and were served with free rice. I had the fake Kung Pao Chicken and fake Mongolian lamb and it was the best vegan mock meat i've ever had. I recommend Vegan locals to give this place a try because not only do they have a special menu of fake meat dishes, they also have other noodle dishes including vegan laksa and vegetable stir fry dishes at a reasonable and affordable price.

i had the nanyang lamb curry and the fake meat was tasty, but there was a lot of it and i honestly would have liked more veg. the eggplant in the curry was soooo good and i would have rated higher if it had more of that. the actual curry was very good. lots of cheap options just not the best
