No longer the Wholefoods Cafe

Seems to have changed hands since I was in Ballarat last.
Now known as 'Higher Society'
Couple of vegan options listed on the menu and chef would be willing to adjust some other items on the menu to be vegan but I decided not to eat... $25 for beans seemed excessive to me.
They had both almond and soy milk options and the coffee was reasonably priced at $3.90 with your keep cup.

Pros: Almond and soy milk available, Good coffee 👍🏼

Cons: Food seemed generally expensive.

Delicious vegan options

The food was fantastic, plenty of vegan options. We ordered the vegan bowl, smashed avo, salted caramel smoothie and cookies and cream cheesecake. They were all so delicious. Plus the staff were friendly and provided fast and great service. I’d highly recommend this cafe.

Pros: Vegan friendly, Delicious , Good service

Delicious lunch vegan option and treat!

We had the smashed avocado (vegan option) and it was delicious. We also had a choc mint slice as a vegan dessert, it was really good. It is a really cozy and clean place. The service is great!

Good first impression but small portions

The place has a great vibe and has a huge range of organic health foods yet when we got our food 3 if us ordered the smashed avocado and were shocked when we were served two pieces of toast and only one of them had a light smattering of avocado. When ordering a smashed avocado you would expect that avocado would champion the dish rather than have two pieces of dry toast with one having a dollop of thick cashew cheese, not what you would except for $18. The food was delicious it’s just disappointing that the portion sizes were so small and we were left hungry afterwards. The big breakfast on the other hand was huge and satisfying yet was very dry, however that dish isn’t vegan so for omni friends, they’d be happy.

Pros: Lots of vegan options , Friendly staff , Lots of vegan cake options

Cons: Expensive for portions , Coffee was below par

ok

Nice atmosphere and in town. Food was delicious, however the portion sizes were small and the prices were expensive and most things I could easily make at home. Drinks were nice though.

Pros: vegan options , nice food, good location

Cons: overpriced, small portions

Service?

We wandered in here for a quick coffee. The staff were not very friendly. No hello, no smile.. We looked at the display cabinet. There are a few vegan options on display that looked nice. We looked at the take home products thinking we'll grab a few things before we headed off. Stood at the counter waiting for service.
Read the other reviews on here while we waited for some service.
Still no service, despite two of them standing there chatting. Decided to leave. So I can't comment on the food. Except that the menu looked a bit limited and it wasn't cheap.

Ok place in Ballarat

Menu has several options which can be made vegan (marked) there was also a selection of cakes and slices which were vegan (marked). I had the quinoa and chickpea patties on a bed of salad, I was expecting a more crispy patties but they were very soft, not the most pleasant texture but they did taste good. The cheesecake was good.

Pros: Vegan items marked, Soy and almond milk available, staff knowledgable about veganism

Cons: price quite high for what you get

OK not Good

We went for breakfast yesterday. Portions are tiny, unusually tiny for a big breakfast they was $19.
Staff are not friendly. I asked for a water after spending over $50 on this poor breakfast and was told to go get it yourself.
