Smoothie bowl with ants 🐜

This review is for the non-vegan green garden warung. I think the other place doesn’t exist anymore. The first night I went there I ordered a salad with vegan tzatziki. Very bland taste without dresssing, I ordered some extra. People on tables around me all complained about stuff as well (eg. drink tastes like fish- they store their ice next to fish). Staff seemed like they didn’t really know their own menu and didn’t smile once. Really bad vibe! The next morning I did a yoga class at the nearby studio (was great) and ordered a smoothie bowl for breakfast. They served me a bowl with ants crawling all over!!! Not only one and I saw them BEFORE they put it on my table. Of course I returned it and received a new one (I assume freshly prepared because it came in a different bowl and took quite long). It tasted good! If there weren’t that few options for vegans on this island I would avoid the place.

A bit disappointing

Came here a few times but each time there wasn't much of a good vibe/ambience. The setting is lovely with lots of plants around, though. Staff weren't that smiley.

It's really disappointing that it labels itself as a vegan cafe on the road signs, but actually isn't a vegan cafe: it just has a vegan menu.

Pros: good vegan menu

Cons: not a great vibe

2 restaurants in 1

It seems like 2 restaurants have morphed here. They have a more expensive menu extra for vegans and the portions are bigger (really satisfying) than if you order from the normal menu. The food tastes okay. Staff is also okay, not too friendly. The peanutbutter sauce used also for Gado Gado is not very yummy. Tastes almost burnt. They have meat substitutes but also serve normal meat. The peanut chocolate banana smoothie tastes amazing!

Pros: many vegan options

Cons: price okay but the quality of food is not really w

Not clear what is vegan!

Unfortunately it seems that the owner has changed... Went there last year almost every day but today it was really disappointing. We clearly sat in the area of the so called Vegan Maitreya Cafe (not the sorrounding Green Garden) but we got the menu with meat on it. Last year all vegan food was named "chicken/seafood" but was completely vegan so my boyfriend ordered crumb chicken in the believe of vegan chicken. Clearly it was meat... Also they have one kitchen for everything so I'm quite sure that the vegan spring roll and the actual chicken is fried in the same pan. After the staff confirmed that it's chicken on our plate (was too late anyway), they changed the bill into "crumb tempe" afterwards which is the worst in my opinion! I'm very sorry for writing this (the staff was very friendly) but in my opinion they should take it more serious when calling themselves "vegan cafe".

Pros: vegan curry is tasty

Cons: staff is not aware of what vegan actually means! , prices are different on the menus

word a visit

It's a really nice and cozy place, the staff as very friendly and the prices are ok. They have a special vegan menu, but it doesn't make much sence. One of the salads on the vegan menu is not even vegan as they use thousand island dressing, so you gotta ask without the dressing. The vegan chicken burger and vegan beef burger are the exact same mock meat and it doesn't taste like beef or chicken. And the prices from the vegan menu are higher then the regular menu even if it's the exact same dish. Example: regular menu nasi campur vegetable for 20 000 and on the vegan menu nasi campur vegetable 30 000. It's completely the same. And that's the case with a lot of the dishes.

Pros: cozy place, friendly staff, very good smoothie bow

Cons: prices make no sense, disappointed in the vegan bu

Awesome food!

The vegan chicken satay tasted better than actual chicken! It was amazing!
Great breakfast bowls and smoothies as well.

This isn't strictly a vegan restaurant though, it is part of Green Garden Warung and there is a seperate vegan menu.

Pros: Great satay, Clean, Good service

Cons: Not strictly vegan as name suggests

Essen ok, viele Fliegen

Cons: Sehr viele Fliegen

love this place!

we are on nusa lembongan for two weeks and we have been eating here at least 2x a day. it is the only vegan restaurant on the island but the food is also absolutely delicious and the staff are friendly and very accommodating. the owner is vegan so have no worries! they have lots of gluten free options. the prices are very fair and inexpensive. i have posted lots of food photos and favorites include: mango muesli fruit bowl, mango juice, cacao treat, vegetable noodle soup, tempe curry (the curry is fantastic!!), vegetable fried noodles. everything we have ordered is delicious and we have almost gone thru the whole menu and the menu is large. they also have breakfast (smoothie bowls) all day so its raw vegan friendly. i highly recommend this place.

Pros: delicious food, excellent service, huge vegan menu

Cons: none!

Spider in the porridge!

If you go for a morning porridge, keep your eye out for extra non-vegan protein in form of spiders.
Found a spider and it was not itsy bitsy, it was a propper 2 - 3 cm diameter hairy legged poor thing drowned in the porridge.

Not even a sorry from the cook, he ask if it was more likely the spider crawled in while we where eating :/

At least we didn't have to pay for the half eaten porrige

Pros: lots of options

Cons: spider in the food, semi awkward service regarding the spider

Good vegan options

This place shares its premises with the Green warung (not vegan), but there is a whole vegan card with lot's of options. A lot of them are with mock meat, but there is also a good selection without them. We ate here several times and really enjoyed the place.

Pros: nice peaceful ambience, decent amount of options, good prices

Cons: some dishes could use a bit more spice

avocado salad

the place have two menu's one with meat and the other "vegan" but be careful cause they can make the milkshakes with milk, you choose soy or cow's milk. the avocado salad was 4 lettuce leaves with 1/4 avocado and two cherry tomatoes, when i saw that i was amazed. so my advice don't choose that one better the green salad or any other plate.

Fresh tasty vegan food at great prices.

A great little eatery on Nusa Lembongan. As far as I'm aware it's the only totally veg restaurant on the island. There is a great range of breakfast options, juices and Balinese food. Bali Maitreaya Vegan Cafe also has some mock meat dishes including burgers. I ate here about 5 times while staying in Nusa Lembongan and the food was always great. The prices are also really good, a vegan Nasi Goreng only costs 25k. They have free wi fi also.
It's on a very bumpy road just off the main drag in Nusa Lembongan, there's signs on the main road pointing to the cafe. Another restaurant called "Green Garden Warung" also operates out of the same premises and there is a yoga studio out the back.

Pros: cheap, vegan
