Excellent flavors - Edit
We stopped here for lunch during our day trip to Johnstown thanks to the reviews on this app. Good location, easy parking, plenty of space inside. Everyone was friendly and knowledgable about what could be made vegan. We got the pita & hummus, lemon Brussels, balance bowl, and lemon spritz vegetables. Everything had incredible flavors. So delicious. The kids also got French fries and fruit. This restaurant is such a gem!

Super accommodating - Edit
I sent an email inquiry regarding vegan options and the owner Amanda actually called me to explain several menu items in detail! Most items can easily be changed to a vegan dish and they are very understanding of a true vegan diet. A few notes:
Read more1) The menu does change seasonally so you may not be able to get the same dish twice.
2) All salad dressings include honey so be sure to ask for balsamic vinegar
3) If you see something you might like, just ask! All servers and the chef are very accommodating. No attitude is ever given!
4) You can sub chickpeas for any of the proteins
5) The vegan mushroom risotto is always a good idea! 🤣
Pros: Understanding staff, Can easily substitute or omit non vegan items, Atmosphere
Cons: Limited clearly marked vegan menu

Perfect - Edit
I had dinner at Balance a few weeks ago. They recently added a luncheon menu but I have not tried it yet, that being said, I was impressed with the food, the physical layout of the restaurant and the service. First, the lights were comfortably dim, the seating comfy, lots of wood, brick walls, quiet. The bar area in the front had an Aerogarden from which I assume they got fresh mint or herbs. We had the large salad with roasted beets and dried fruit, the vegan mushroom risotto, and Brussels sprouts without Parmesan. All were excellent and we shared our food, a custom not common to our town. The mixed drinks were unique and surprising combinations and quite powerful on an empty stomach. We met the manager who told us they grew many of their micro greens upstairs in a hydroponic garden. The staff was knowledgeable about vegan and gluten free options, the wait short. We requested more vegan foods (like the impossible burger or a good vegan dessert) and hope they’ll add more as their menus change by season and they add lunch options. We’d also like to attend when they have a musical group on weekends. Five stars. Very enjoyable visit and we’ll go again for sure.
