Vegetarian plate on weds and sat

Used to get the veggie plate even before I went vegan, just got it again for the first time in a while and it's still delicious. Love how sticky the rice is. Filling and relatively cheap.

Great hole in the wall

On Wednesdays and Saturdays they have their Vietnamese specials and the Vegetarian Plate is divine. Also on their everyday Chinese menu is a veggie plate (you can add tofu) and that’s super good as well! They now take credit cards so that’s great!

vegetarian plate

This spot is very convenient to duke hospital and i was starving after having appointments there for a full day. The vegetarian plate (i think a wednesday and saturday special) for about $11
, really hit the spot. At first, i did think it had a slight burnt taste but my leftovers didn’t really have that taste. It has steamed/ sautéed veggies, rice, and fried tofu with black bean sauce. They also had a veggie soup that day. I would go back to try the banh mi on saturday if I’m ever in the area!

Pros: location , portions

Like home

I've eaten at Banh's several times a week for 35 years, and it feels like an extension of my own dining room. Chan, Chi, and LeChan have built a solid fan base by delivering delicious, inexpensive food reliably. The siblings know hundreds of their customers by name, and know their favorite dishes. Banh's serves several weekday standards (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday), including ginger tofu and sesame tofu. But the best days to come are Saturday and Wednesday, because that's when they have a special Vietnamese menu. The vegetarian plate is a old favorite: fried tofu (crunchy outside, creamy inside) with black bean sauce, sticky rice with sesame seeds and ground peanuts, and (depending on the day) smoky seared greens or a salad roll. There are other great vegan options, including, on Saturdays, the eggplant-and-tofu banh mi. They also serve a vegan pho. Every dish is under $10. Decor is simple. Takeout is a good option too.

Veg Plate, accepting Visa

We decided to try this place after seeing the reviews. We arrived on a Saturday around 11:30am.

$8.99 Vegetarian Plate: Someone on google stated it was smokey so we weren't really expecting the flavor. It was different than anything else we've had before. We appreciated the mix of flavors. We would get again. The plate was big enough for 2 people to share.

On other reviews we saw it stated they were cash only. When we ordered, they were accepting 💳 Visa.

The Vegetarian Plate is only available as a special on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The staff seemed to be familiar with veganism when we discussed the ingredients to confirm no animal products were used. The staff were wearing masks.

Parking: There was mainly street 🅿 Parking. We found it easy to find street parking across the street from the entrance. There was also a small parking lot across the street but we are unsure of the restrictions/fees if any in the parking lot.

OK cheap food

I came on a Tuesday (so, not a day with vegan specials) and the only vegan thing they had was tofu and vegetables. It was great value for the price, but really the food was the generic food you can find in every Chinese place. So if you're looking for cheap food, this is a good place, if you want anything more, go somewhere else.

Pros: Great value for your price

Cons: Generic Chinese food you can find anywhere, Limited variety
