Serves meat, vegan options available. Organic bistro located at the entrance of the bear sanctuary. Offers a small menu of different daily freshly cooked meals, beverages, fair-trade coffee and local cakes. Most of the dishes are vegetarian or vegan and vegan ones are labelled “v” on the menu. Vegetarian meals can be adjusted to be vegan. Also offers plant milks for coffee. Coffee, Ice Cream and Cake available until 6pm. Open Mon-Sun 10:00-16:00. 10.00 am to 4.00 pm from Nov to March.

No vegan option - Edit
Bistro kitchen closed at 3pm already. After that they only had butter brezels and non vegan cake - disappointing! I think its pretty uncool for an animal rights organization to even offer non vegan food or not offering any vegan option at all:(

Normally I don't give bad ratings, but here at the cafe of the Bärenwald Müritz I was very disappointed.

We booked an exclusive tour because we find the project so great and wanted to support it.
The tour includes coffee and cake. We had announced in advance that we didn't really needed that, but we were told they would find something vegan for us. Alright. So far so good.
At the end of the tour we went to the cafe of Bärenwald Müritz and asked for (our) vegan cake.
We were looked at strangely by the not very friendly employee. "No (vegan cake)", she said
Ok, no problem.
Then we looked at the food menu, and found NOT ONE single vegan alternative. There wasn't anything marked vegan like in the photos one can see in another review. There was meat and some vegetarian options.
The employee was also not very helpful.
Too bad, really too bad.
The other (from other associations) bear parks in Worbis and in the Black Forest make it more exemplary in that matter. They offer vegan alternatives, they're clearly marked it on the menu too and you are not getting looked at strangely either if you ask for more vegan options.
Bärenwald Müritz is an animal protection project of Vier Pfoten. Four Paws (Vier pfoten) is a global animal welfare organisation. It should actually be a prerequisite that vegans feel welcome here.

Read morewe are very sorry to hear about your bad experience at our organic bistro. Especially because our bistro offers to 90% vegetarian/vegan food and snacks and we've been working on expanding our vegan options for quite a while as well.
The vegan options are usually marked with a little “v” on the menu. It is possible, that we forgot to add it on the menu that day. We don't always have vegan cake at our bistro but we do have a selection of vegan ice cream and coffee specialties. Most of the vegetarian dishes on the menu can be “veganised”, too and our employees are well aware of it.
However, we sometimes have volunteers helping us out at the sanctuary who aren't always as informed about everything. We apologize for the trouble caused and hope to welcome you again one day at our sanctuary – not only to visit the bears but especially to try out or vegan dishes.

Several vegan options and ice cream! - Edit
I had the dish with potatoes, salad and sauce. Nice and fulfilling lunch. To top it of, I had the Solero bio ice cream which is one of the two vegan ice creams. The sanctuary moved us to tears. So many bears that were rescued from horrible places. Please donate what you can!

Fine little bistro in the bear protection center - Edit
A nice bistro with a small vegetarian and vegan menue. A cool place to stop and have some food. You can connect your visit with enyoing the bear protection center which is a sanctuary for rescued brown bears that were former circus, restaurant or cage bears.
