Really vegan. - Edit
Two well marked vegan options (it's the V symbol) plus many starters and likely vegan sorbets make this the best option in Wengen. It's a little way down from the center, though.

Really vegan? - Edit
I didn't eat here, but checked out the menu outside. I have to agree with the other review that questioned the vegan labeling. Several examples, but two "vegan" items included ricotta and cream in the description. I can't say for certain, but I'd guess these items are just vegetarian.

The ricotta dish is not marked vegan, the circle icon is for vegetarian. Only the V marks vegan. I think you should delete this review. See https://www.baeren-wengen.ch/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/Karte-Sommer-1.pdf

Excellent High-End Meal - Edit
In a country that doesn’t respect veganism (trust me on this one- everything is meat and milk based), it is such a pleasure to find Baren, an upscale restaurant in Wengen. The fact that Wengen is a tourist town made it very difficult to find vegan options unless one travels down the mountain to Lauterbrunnen where a couple more options exist.
Read moreThen came Baren. What a pleasure to have celery root schnitzel! A vegan schnitzel. What a delicious surprise. I am enamored with restaurants that veganize native dishes, and the schnitzel is no exception. It was accompanied with sweet potato wedges seasoned to perfection and baby bok choi. The tomato soup starter was thick and beyond flavorful.
The sorbets - pear, lemon and raspberry - are vegan. The pear was exceptionally striking with small chunks of fruit and sweetened perfectly.

Suspect food - Edit
Unfortunately despite the labelling on the menu, the restaurant doesn't understand veganism and seems to have confused it with vegetarianism. I believe I got served bread with milk in, butter, and cream sauce with my 'vegan' meal. Staff were unattentive so I couldn't get their attention to check, I just left the suspect items.

Good they have some options - Edit
Menu had two vegan options, a Falafel or stuffed tomatoes with veg, both are ok if in Wengen but wouldn't travel specifically for them, better off at Air Time cafe in Lauterbrunnen. Pricey.

Great service, limited options - Edit
You can be rest assured you will find something to eat here as a vegan, and it's a very nice place with lovely and attentive staff. Not sure if chefs are overly familiar with doing vegan dishes though. The curry sauce and falafels was enjoyable but a bit odd, and the salad starter (with meat removed) was a bit bland. The pear sorbet was delicious though!
