I was doubting between 3 or 4 stars. It's nit because of the food, but the service was lacking.

But the service. They told us to sit in the part at the back. There were 2 other people sitting there. They took our drink order and we received our drinks fast. Then no one came for our food order. It was busy outside. They were probably busy with those people, but they knew we sat inside. It took about an half hour before we finally were able to order. Food then came quickly.
There was a concert in Rotown that evening, so more busy, but still. Also wasn't clear who belonged to what restaurant or café.
Also, my first choice of food was sold out, that early in the evening.

A cool place to have some food, in the back room of Rotown. I had a Kapsalon (local treat!), which was very tasty! The size was a bit too small for a main course, I definitely could have had more food. The beer choices are nice!

We hadden de roti, rendang, tournedos en de burger en het smaakten ons (4 personen) allemaal even goed. Een absolute aanrader deze zaak achterin bij Rotown.

The typical beer smell of a concert venue put me off at first, not what you’re looking for for lunch. But the food was good, enjoyed the ‘kip-kerrie’ sandwich. Very affordable as well.

Everything was even better than expected. The whole menu is vegan and the food was amazing. Good variety of food including Indian and Indonesian dishes, as well as burgers etc.

Love their all vegan food, plenty of variety on the menu, and reasonable prices. Some great desserts!
Read moreBut: they are situated in another venue (Rotown) and the bar is run by Rotown. And they don't get veganism, apparently, as they have served me a non vegan biscuit with my tea and coffee several times now.
Backstage says this cannot be helped, but if that is so, this should be announced clearly on the tables or such, as the Backstage customers expect everything to be safe to eat

We started with appetizers and it was really delicious. Then we ordered a burger and something else. Both dishes were very spicy. It was too spicy for me, although my boyfriend liked it. It is a pity that the waiter did not specify, about the sharpness. However, everything was very tasty.

I had the Seitan ribs with fries and bitterballen. The fries were homemade and the sauces incredibly delicious. Unfortunately, I didn't have room for desert but it sounded really good!

Great music at a reasonable volume level so it wasn't uncomfortable. Best kapsalon I've ever eaten, and the server was incredibly friendly and helpful! Will definitely eat here more often.

We really enjoyed the food here, which was good quality and had good portions. I had the Green Oatburger, my partner the bread with hummus, tapenade and oil. Both were good and the Blood orange juice was very nice as well. The ambiance is not what I expected from a snackbar, but it was fun and different (like a rock bar). A bit loud though, so if you're not in the mood for that you might want to go somewhere else.

Owned by the guy who ran the Vegetarian Snackbar in Den Haag for years. Great food, lots of choices, take out and delivery are also options, as is catering for your party/event.
