I have been to Rotown once or twice. The place itself is really cool and I’d probably go for that. The first bummer is the fact that they serve non vegan drinks (but it’s supposed to be a vegan place?). The other is that the food doesn’t make up for the price. The dishes aren’t cheap but are very simple. Most of the dishes are a bit bland and I could make them at home better (I’m not a great cook). Especially the past and butter chicken don’t live up to restaurant standards. I would come here again for the vibes and event. But I probably just stick to the fried oyster mushroom as a snack

The food was good, although most of it based on fake meat ingredients which caps my score at ⭐⭐⭐⭐. A great selection of excellent draught beers, helpful and friendly staff and cool music add to the experience.

I was doubting between 3 or 4 stars. It's nit because of the food, but the service was lacking.

But the service. They told us to sit in the part at the back. There were 2 other people sitting there. They took our drink order and we received our drinks fast. Then no one came for our food order. It was busy outside. They were probably busy with those people, but they knew we sat inside. It took about an half hour before we finally were able to order. Food then came quickly.
There was a concert in Rotown that evening, so more busy, but still. Also wasn't clear who belonged to what restaurant or café.
Also, my first choice of food was sold out, that early in the evening.

A cool place to have some food, in the back room of Rotown. I had a Kapsalon (local treat!), which was very tasty! The size was a bit too small for a main course, I definitely could have had more food. The beer choices are nice!

The typical beer smell of a concert venue put me off at first, not what you’re looking for for lunch. But the food was good, enjoyed the ‘kip-kerrie’ sandwich. Very affordable as well.

Everything was even better than expected. The whole menu is vegan and the food was amazing. Good variety of food including Indian and Indonesian dishes, as well as burgers etc.

Love their all vegan food, plenty of variety on the menu, and reasonable prices. Some great desserts!
Read moreBut: they are situated in another venue (Rotown) and the bar is run by Rotown. And they don't get veganism, apparently, as they have served me a non vegan biscuit with my tea and coffee several times now.
Backstage says this cannot be helped, but if that is so, this should be announced clearly on the tables or such, as the Backstage customers expect everything to be safe to eat

We started with appetizers and it was really delicious. Then we ordered a burger and something else. Both dishes were very spicy. It was too spicy for me, although my boyfriend liked it. It is a pity that the waiter did not specify, about the sharpness. However, everything was very tasty.

I had the Seitan ribs with fries and bitterballen. The fries were homemade and the sauces incredibly delicious. Unfortunately, I didn't have room for desert but it sounded really good!
