Best latte I’ve had in this country. - Edit
I ordered the seasonal fireside latte and it was such a unique spin with Smokey flavours and a touch of sea salt! The coffee was so obviously high in quality - it doesn’t taste too bitter, but the caffeine goes strong and it made me feel incredible after a sluggish morning.

Not too sweet like most coffee shop pastries are, very oaty and nutty with a touch of banana and cranberry flavour. I would totally come back again and again just for a good latte scone brekkie.
The place is SO cute. A short bus ride away from Northwestern Uni - worth every bit of it.

Unfriendly owner - Edit
Came few times for coffee.. the only vegan pastry is always gone! We asked the owner and he was rude and very not tolerant for vegans! I’ll never give this place my money.

Oat milk latte is worth it - Edit
Strange experience at this place for me. It is VERY busy on Saturday mornings and a ton of kids, so this isn’t a quiet coffee shop for working or studying. I came in and asked whether their oat milk was unsweetened and the front line person who looked like the owner was very sassy, kept saying that it had “natural sugars”. When I politely repeated my question, he kept saying “it has sugar, ok?” I said that some plant milk have added sugars and others don’t, and he was getting more and more irritated, until I asked to look at the package. It was unsweetened Oatly, which was perfect, and the words “unsweetened” was in bold on top of the package, but I still didn’t understand why he had to make such a big deal of it. The latte was good, but the interaction left me bewildered.

Has only one vegan scone. - Edit
This place is not much better for vegans than Starbucks. They have nondairy milk and they have one vegan scone. They said that they don’t typically have more than that one vegan baked item.

Favorite coffee shop! - Edit
My death row meal would be a vegan scone and Oatly maple leaf latte from Backlot! They also have a vegetarian breakfast burrito and lots of other plant milks. The vibe in here is amazing though if you’re looking for a place to catch up with a friend or get some work done!
