The best vegan food I've had in ages

My partner and I went there for a two-course meal and it was definitely the best vegan food we've had in ages. The Nott wings (cauliflower) has absolutely blown my mind, I could have never imagined cauliflower can be so nice! It was a little bit on the spicy side but both my partner and I love spicy food so it only made it more special. My main course was bish (banana blossom 'fish') and chips and it was very nice too, the best banana blossom 'fish' I've had. My partner had a wild mushroom pasta that was very nice too. On top of that, we had some delicious vegan wine. Frankie was an amazing host, very attentive and positive and gave us some good recommendations. I'd definitely recommend this place and will go back again when I'm in Birmingham!

Pros: Mindlowingly amazing vegan food, Vegan wine available

Cons: Menu could be expanded a bit

A must try 😁

Couldn't believe just how tasty the food was, NOTT WINGS! WOW!! they hit the spot, nice and spicy and the Mac n Cheese is just yummy goes perfectly together. The Bish and chips are mind blowing, the best I have had.

The service is highly rated, Hev went above and beyond for us, as my friend has allergies and Hev made sure she was looked after, you wouldn't have thought the restaurant was full with how we were looked after.

Well done Ba-Ha 👍

Pros: So much to choose from

Cons: Drinks take a little longer to arrive.

Unbelievable....

Food - Amazing!
Nobo flavour and texture was not what I was expecting, Mac and Cheese the best I have ever had and the Nachos are so fresh and tasty with their home made cheese sauce. I had to try the Booji bar, tastes just like a snickers. Great to find good filling and tasty food.

Service - Amazing!
Heather and Frankie make you feel so welcome and genuinely friendly, with not being over the top!

Atmosphere - Amazing!
Live music

Pros: So much to choose from and reasonably priced

Cons: They can't accept tips on card unfortunately!

A Gem Hidden In Plain Sight

We were a bit unsure where to find this eatery which is located inside the Churchill Bar in the Mailbox area of Birmingham. Just go inside and locate the tables on the left side of the bar. We were made really welcome by Frankie who is clearly very enthusiastic about their food and rightly so. We started with "BBQ nobo" (jackfruit based) which was delicious with a rich, tasty sauce, and "Nott wings" which were cauliflower in crispy coating and a piquant sauce. Mains were Lasagne and Bish and chips. The latter utilised banana blossom which was something I had not tried before but was served in batter with chips and mint mushy peas.
Lovely, tasty food and really friendly service. I would strongly recommend to anyone looking for vegan food in Birmingham.
PS: Frankie, in case you read this, when talking with you, I forgot to leave you a tip! Many apologies! I hope this review helps and double tip next time!

Pros: Great food, Great service, Central location

Cons: initially unclear where it was located, In bar so a bit loud and intrusive TV screen

One of the very best all round!

Too often with vegan places you're hoping the food is good enough to forgive the surroundings, haphazard service or presentation. BA-HA at Churchill's did not fall into the same traps. I'd pretty much made up my mind to return here before the food even came out.

Frankie, the owner, is SO lovely. She is clearly passionate about her food and has a natural way with people. I left feeling more like a friend than a customer which I can't say I've ever experienced before. Magic!

The food, by the way, was amazing. The BBQ nobo was one of the tastiest vegan dishes I've had and I enjoyed their spin on Mac & Cheese way more than I thought I would. I'm excited to go back and try some of the things I missed out on this time. It's a pretty small menu and yet they had so much I wanted to try!

This is worth a trip to Birmingham for. It's 10 minutes walk from New Street/The Bullring and set on the canal with lovely views.

Pros: Staff/service is second to none, Food is delicious, Surroundings very pretty & venue has a great feel

Cons: Expect mid-range pricing - it's a posh location!

Taste sensation!

Currently the best tasting vegan cuisine in Birmingham. Set into Churchill's cocktail bar at the mailbox, this vegan taste adventure will have you with zero regrets and a happy soul.
My company wasn't vegan and she was blown away too!
The service was excellent and I have no doubt the Baha kitchen will go far.

Pros: Stunning flavour, Excellent service, Creative food

Cons: Finding it (in Churchill's), Just take a little extra money (worth it)

Absolutely WAW!

I'm struggling to capture the joy of dining at Ba-Ha in this review text... I've started over a couple of times already, because each time it sounded a bit corny and cliché.

Let's just say we've never ever felt more welcome in any restaurant ever. Frankie's passion and charm and friendliness are commendable. (hug!)

The food was absolutely WAW and I wish we were in Birmingham longer than one evening, otherwise we would have definitely come back the next day for the other delicious-looking options from the menu. I could surely use a portion of those extra loaded fries right now... They were just.... LOADED! I can't exactly say with what, but it was finger-licking good! I firmly believe it was made of the same stuff dreams are made off😉And the nachos! Oh, the nachos!!! If those are on the menu, I must simply order them! These nachos were 100% home-made, and - just like everything else - ab-so-lu-te-ly WAW!

Well... the review turned out a bit corny and cliché after all :)

Hugs from Belgium!

Pros: The Food, The Joy, Frankie!

Wonderful find!

We’re staying over at the Jury’s Inn, searched on Happy Cow and this came up as the closest vegan restaurant. Though we’d give it a try and loved it! Super friendly. Yummy vegan food. What else do you need?!

Best vegan dining in Birmingham

Ba-Ha has garnered something of a reputation. People who are incredibly passionate about vegan food, serving from great spaces around the city, plating up delights to tempt even the sternest of meat eaters. It’s a well earned reputation as I’ve just experienced for myself.

Food choices are on a compact menu which some would say is bad for lack of choice but I say is definitely a good thing when done right. With a mix of smaller and larger portions, it means you do indeed have lots to choose from. I went for ‘Bish & Chips’ - banana blossom as the fish and it was mind blowing. The way it flakes like fish, the texture when pulling it apart and the taste were incredible. It’s wrapped in a delightful batter with a real crunch that’s packed with seasoning. My partner had some smaller plates as she couldn’t choose. The standout has to be the BBQ Nono (jackfruit balls) served with mayo but that’s not a knock on the creamy mac and cheese or the loaded fries - which had a nice kick but not to the point of being overpowering.

We finished off with dessert. Orange brownie for me, a Booji bar for her (a take on a Snickers). My one critical comment here is that the brownie was a tad on the dry side and took some force to break apart with my spoon but that didn’t detract from the taste which comes through once in the mouth. The Booji bar tasted... just like a Snickers! That’s a good thing though, because it’s a great combination of flavours and the presentation was very visually appealing with the defined layers on show. Eating is for the eyes too!

Our server Heather was friendly and we enjoyed a good chat about the food after. Despite being 4 in the afternoon in a more casual dress code time of day, this felt like a proper dining experience (the venue, Churchill’s plays a part here). If you care about more than just the food and want an experience, Ba-Ha is the place for you. It’s unique in Birmingham and a true establishment both us locals and the owners and staff should be proud of.

Pros: Independent, fully vegan business , Outstanding quality food, First class customer service

A hidden gem 💎🌱

I’m not exaggerating when I say this is some of the best food I’ve ever eaten!! The flavours and the creativity was incredible - we had loaded fries, mac and cheese and jackfruit bbq meatballs and it’s all SO good with like complex flavours and textures and just wow ok. Also we tried the vegan fried egg baha have created out of curiosity, even tho I never really liked them, and like ???? what is this sorcery ???? Obviously it’s a secret recipe so I am truly baffled as to how they’ve created it because it’s unnervingly similar. So if you’re missing fried egg, you have to go! My personal favourite was the BBQ jackfruit meatballs (bbq nobo) go just to try these!
Also frankie, one of the co-founders served us and is the loveliest human ever and so so passionate about her food and creating a good experience, so I cannot recommend this place highly enough, and am already planning my birthday meal there!! 💖🌱✨

Pros: The tastiest vegan food ever, and tons of options, Incredible service, passionate and enthusiastic , Great value for money

Cons: Literally zero

A great evening!

This place is amazing! Our server, Frankie, was so so lovely and made us feel so relaxed the entire evening. Finding the restaurant was a little confusing but it’s located directly below Miller & Carter. The Mac ‘n’ Cheese was delicious as well as the jackfruit meatball things (try them, you will not be disappointed!) The vibe was perfect, live music, cocktails and great vegan food at sunset, what’s not to like :))))

Pros: Delicious food, Great service, Location (once you find it)

Cons: Confusing to find

Bish!! Wonderful evening at BA-HA

Our first time in Birmingham city and we decided to try BA-HA vegan bar - what a delight! Food was delicious, fresh and tasty. I've been vegetarian 32 years and vegan for 4 and cook my own vegan fish alternative using tofu and nori so was intrigued to try BA-HA's banana blossom 'bish' - was delicious !! We also tried the nott wings & BBQ jackfruit fish, highly recommend!! Can't wait to go back !!

Pros: Great service , Friendly, Know their stuff

Cons: Cocktails weren't that good
