Price makes it hard to swallow - Edit
LOVE LOVE LOVE the idea of a vegan deli and was so excited to eat here. Loved that there were a few tables outside on the sidewalk so we went in for a late lunch. First bad news was there wasn’t ANY plant-based protein anywhere to be found on any sandwich except for the OLD SPORT, which has some chickpeas, so I decided on that. I found it to be bland and watery, which is tolerable but here’s the really bad news— sandwiches cost $20! We also had THE PETER and THE MEADOW SOPRANO. Both have lettuce, tomato, onion and one other ingredient— THE PETER mushrooms and SOPRANO artichoke hearts. A couple dollars worth of ingredients for $20. It literally made it hard to swallow. Bread baked off site, sides are extra, nothing special on offer that makes it worth the price. Super disappointed.

Unique and delicious! - Edit
All vegan deli in Santa Monica with a variety of plant-forward sandwiches. We tried the Peter and the Susie Green, and both had amazing flavor and texture.
Read moreThe caramelized onions and chimichurri on the Peter were an unexpected but welcome combination, and the bread was fresh and delicious.
The Susie green was more filling since it’s an open faced everything bagel with celery root “white fish” on top. The tomatoes were juicy and so flavorful, and the whitefish had a great sour taste of dill, lemon, and capers.
The side of stuffed peppers was also fantastic! Calibrian spicy peppers stuffed with creamy cashew cheese, such a delicious combination.
B&T’s is quite pricy ($17-$20) for a sandwich, but the quality was excellent and the flavors were unique. Definitely on par with Maciel’s in my opinion but carving out its own unique space in the vegan deli word.
Pros: All vegan, Unique flavors, Friendly staff
Cons: Expensive

Vegan Sandwich Shop - Edit
The moment we walked in we were greeted with a welcoming smile and a “How can we help you?” The place was very quaint with a couple tables inside and few outside.

Good Montana Location - Edit
Ordered a mushroom / steak sandwich and enjoyed it. The sandwich was good and quite light (even as a ‘steak’ sandwich). They had a good amount of flavors in a single sandwich - would love to try a different one next time. The vibes were pretty cool half modern half old-school type deli.
Read moreThe mushrooms were large pieces and felt pretty raw, it might have been flash cooked, but well marinated. The bread felt a little stale - would probably opt to toast it next time. Sandwiches are ~$20 each, deli sides are ~$10 each. Not sure about the cost of chips / drinks.
Pros: 10 Sandwich Menu, Fresh, Light
Cons: Pricey , Bread was meh

Best new addition to Montana Street - Edit
I’m obsessed! Love the decor and vibe, the employees behind the counter were super friendly and helpful. Everything is so tasty! I tried the Meadow Soprano & my friend tried the Peter, both were delicious. The bread is great, and the flavors were fresh and thoughtful. Love the sides in the refrigerator too. Only downside is that it’s a little pricey but I would still recommend! Street parking available.

Great new add to Montana - Edit
I’d say one of the hardest things for me being vegan is finding a good hearty sandwich so I was thrilled for B&T’s to show up.
Read moreTheir sandwiches are great! Tried the Wanda and Ina’s and both very flavorful.
The reason I’m giving 3 is:
Their use of plastics. A lot of the sides come in plastic containers, would love to see something more sustainable
Another reason is the prices. It’s a bit steep, even for Montana for a sandwich.
Finally I’d love to see a hot sandwich on the menu. I’m always craving a toasted sub!

Hi! Thank you for coming in and glad you enjoyed it. Just wanted to clarify a couple things: we do not use plastic. We use compostable products from World Centric all made from natural and renewable materials (greenpaperproducts.com). We also do have a hot sandwich and any sandwich can be toasted!

Hey! Thanks for the response! Do you guys compost at your store or drop off the waste at a composting spot?

Hi. Being a long-time vegan and Santa Monican, I just started following this restaurant on Instagram, then went to find their menu here https://www.bandtsdeli.com/menu, where it says they value transparency, but they don't list their prices.
Read moreSo I came here to Happy Cow to see if there was anything about the prices here, because I don't want to go to Montana Ave. and struggle to find parking, only to get to their restaurant and find I am not comfortable with their prices, and then have to turn away after making the effort.
Several of you here have said the food is good but pricey. How pricey is pricey? I'm willing to pay for quality, but at a point it can get ridiculous and no longer worth it (prime example Erewhon)....So can any of you here give me a ball park of what the prices of the sandwiches were? Thanks
Pilot.lj
@MikeFeinstein $17-$20 per sandwich

FINALLY!!! - Edit
A terrific place to get vegan sandwiches. Had 2 yesterday and were both delicious. They are committed to great quality and making every sandwich perfect so they are starting really slow and will be few months before they take phone / on-line orders. Be patient. Andrews Cheese up the block has a few vegetarian cheese sandwiches and then there is Bay Cities with a terrific burrata (except for the lousy tomatoes) but nothing vegan. Welcome to the neighborhood and thanks for taking the leap!!

Amazing Sandwiches!! - Edit
I came here within a week of their soft opening so they had a limited menu, but everything my mother and I had was truly DELICIOUS. We got the open faced bagel and the chickpea sandwich, both were super flavorful and you can tell they use high quality ingredients. It is on the pricier side, but in exchange you’re getting heirloom tomatoes in your sandwiches, etc, instead of lab-grown GMO nonsense. The owners were there too and their energy was just so kind, friendly and immaculate. I can’t wait to see their whole menu! WE WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK.
