Closed early

Turned up and it had decided to close early. I wouldn’t be too bothered but we’d also tried to visit their other restaurant a couple of nights later and this was also closed.

Favorite in Portland!

Aviv is amazing and we go every time we come to Portland! Everything we’ve tried has been top-notch. Their flavors are incredible! This was our first time at their downtown location and there was plenty of seating inside and out. I’m looking forward to coming back again!

Pros: Lots of fun, unique options, Delicious!

Soy curl perfection

This place knows what they’re doing for sure. The soy curls were worked in so well with everything and drizzled in an awesome sauce. Flavors and textures complemented well.

Pros: Awesome flavors , Good drink options

Amazing, I ate till it hurt

Beyond delicious food. The flavors were fantastic and I could not get enough of the soy curls.

My party shared the shawarma plate, shawarma fries, falafel plate, and bourekas. Oh boy, I’m so upset this place isn’t where I live.

Delicious

Food was great, so many options. They didn't have ingredients for what I originally ordered and I think what the cashier suggested might actually have been better anyway!

Excellent Vegan Israeli Cuisine

Phenomenal and extremely flavourful food! Everything was bursting with flavour! Loved the Shawarma Fries, Sabich, Beet Salad and Pita, Halva and Malabi! The Sabich was my favorite, reminded me of my favorite Sabich place in Jerusalem that I used to frequent when I lived in Israel. Ask for extra sauces on the side. Their sauces are fabulous!!
Great service as well!

Great downtown lunch spot

Nice place to go while you’re visiting downtown. Right around the corner from Powell’s, they have shareable dishes and great faux meat dishes made of soy curls. Super easy to bike to and probable best as a lunch spot as their dining area is limited to a makeshift outdoor patio.

Pros: All vegan, Creative faux meat dishes, Delicious marinated veggies

Cons: Limited seating

Perfection on a plate!

This food is amazing! To be able to find such tasty and high quality vegan Israeli cuisine is a true gem. Their pita bread is fresh from the oven, the different hummus are delicious and creative. Basically, we haven’t been able to find anything on the menu that we didn’t love.

We eat there and couldn’t resist 2 days later to come back before we left Portland.

A must if you enjoy Israeli haute cuisine.

Pros: Everything!

Awesome vegan fusion cuisine

A delightful fusion-style vegan restaurant in Portland, Oregon.

Food***
We ordered the falafel style plate and the Schwarma Pita. The pita was delicious and we both couldn’t get enough but the falafel style plate was small and the both the falafel and the sides had little to be desired.

Service***
It was fine, nothing special. Like many restaurants in Portland, Oregon they are restricted by the rules of Covid-19 so it was eat outside in the cold or take it home. We decided to take it home.

Atmosphere***
Again, restricted by the rules of Covid so we can’t give this a positive or negative review since we couldn’t eat inside but it looked nice from the outside!

Price$$
Not that bad considering the amount of food you get.

Pros: Nice portions

Cons: None

Truly amazing vegan experience

We usually eat in silence here with the 'oh my goodness' or 'mmmmmm' with every few bites. Everything is delicious. Today we ordered the mushroom hummus, labneh (cashew cheese), mushroom calamari and their fries (with homemade ketchup)...and their amazing homemade pita bread.

Pros: Everything is vegan

Cons: You usually overeat and leave very full!

Flavor bombs

Had a group, and tried quite a few things. All the food was a great mix of savory and sour, spot on. Didn’t have a single bad order.

Amazing flavors, but...

Had the Division Street Bowl. The flavors were explosively awesome. Almost like a paella/ Mediterranean inspired bowl. Zesty/citrusy/tangy/savory all rolled into a box. My only reason for the loss of a star was that the dish seemed way over sauced. Don’t get me wrong, the sauces were wonderful, there was just too much of it. It made what should have been a light, playful dish into one that was heavy and almost overly flavored. I will definitely go back, I will likely just ask for light sauce or for the sauce on the side next time.

אני אוהב את האוכל

Vegan Israeli food, yes please! I still have dreams of the Carrots Al Ha'esh. Falafel Sandwich had spicy extras like Amba and Zhoug and the best fries in the world. Soy Curls are low-tier veg fare, but against all odds, Aviv makes it work. Weekend Brunch was spectacular, seitan brisket hash and Beet Puree, Challah French Toast with Berries, super yum! Be sure to pick up some Hummus and Ice Cream to-go.

Pros: No meat on premises, Delightful atmosphere, Best Vegan Mediterranean food in PDX

Cons: Woke

Vegan comfort food

So glad something awesome moved into Portobello’s old space. Don’t go here if you’re looking for healthy. You will definitely end up with something warm, heavy, and so comforting. The Shwarma is so good!

Cons: No parking

The food was delicious! I ordered the fried cauliflower and jackfruit brisket, it did not disappoint! I was full but couldn't stop eating the jackfruit brisket. Definitely will be taking another trip back (or 2 or 3...)

Great Portion Size

The Redwood salad was incredible. The hummus sauce was really nice, perfect ratio of greens to mushrooms, and got a lot more than I expected. 10/10 would go again!

Expecting A Better Meal

I was visiting Portland and a foodie friend gave a glowing recommendation for Aviv. It was a bit out of the way for where we were staying but decided to give them a try. We ordered the Falafel Plate, the Habibi Burger, Street Corn, Fried Cauliflower and Baklava. The Falafel Plate was a huge disappointment. It was a relatively small portion of food for $16. The Gluten Free Pita Bread was inedible. I can't believe that they would offer something as poor quality as that when gluten free baking has evolved a lot in the past 5 years. They substituted a Jalapeno and Pineapple ice cream for the baklava without checking in with me first. The Burger was fine. The street corn (1 ear cut into 2 pieces) was tough and not worth $8. I'm hoping that the kitchen had a bad day.

Highly Recommended! We only had the shawarma fries and drinks, but it was enough to know that this place is legit. I will be back to eat everything! Awesome interior, music, and vibes as well. 🥑🥑

Underwhelming, Lacked flavor

Tried the Enchanted Forest and Shawarma Platter.
Enchanted forest seems to be a mushroom centric dish on the menu but had very little of that in reality.
It was very bland, despite being marked spicy.

Same for the platter.

Pros: Halwa flavored ice cream was yummy

Cons: Bland food, Expensive, Long wait

Stellar flavor, good portions

Incredible middle eastern vegan dishes. Also very adherent to the ethics of veganism, they do not let animal products in the establishment. One of my favorite places in Portland and that's saying something.

Pros: Fully vegan, Good atmosphere, Great flavor
